Guest Asch
1996 A4 The safety catch is not allowing the bonnet to open. Any ideas? The cable is not part of the problem either. The little lever between the OO^OO is also stuck down and slightly to one side.
UltraWomble
Have you tried pushing the bonnet down whilst someone pulls the release catch? Failing that you may have to butcher your grille to get to the catch.
Jmac
Try pulling the bonnet release whilst driving slowly over a speed bump or up a kerb at a angle or one wheel thru a deep pothole , try to induce some body flex , helps the bonnet pop open . Good luck . Tamworthbay
Pillock
Or if it's sitting on the catch, push the bonnet to one side (or the other, but I'd guess at towards the way the handle is facing) to flex it.
beko1987
Holesaw a hole to top the screenwash and oil up and never open it again? Have to get the holes right first time though... The Moog, twosmoke300, stonedagain and 4 others
Matty
Google. People have found a way round this problem on most cars. Fuck knows how you remove headlights, grills etc with the bonnet shut but folk seem to manage it. Worth a try....
Guest Asch
Sounds like I will be on my back most of tomorrow. Thanks for the hints. It will need a big hole to get the battery in. Matty and beko1987
Jmac
Hi Asch . Is the bonnet popping open / up when you pull the release ? . And the safety catch stuck ? . Justin.
Guest Asch
It is popped, but the catch is holding it.
Skizzer
I had an Audi A4 bonnet stuck too, this very morning. Welded itself right to my back bumper. Eventually it shifted itself, then blocked lane 1 trying to push into the queue at junction 33. Twat. (Someone had to say it. The above also happens to be true, btw.) Guest Asch
After a lot of jiggling up and down it finally opened. Now for the release spray. Cheers guys.
