Jim Bell
Parts of Loserones currently resting 405 1800 estate were used to fix the 1.6. (that's an 1800 head in the pic). I sold LoserOne the 1.6 for scrap money in the hope that Scaryoldcortina could put it right, and he did. So it lives on and is fixed up better and stronger than before with its new owner. Shirley Knott
The sun roof grimace picture a couple of pages back sums up the experience for me better than any words ever could. Jim Bell
HillmanImp
I'm a shortarse so i don't have that bother with sunroofs. I dont buy cars with them as i want to keep maximum rigidity in the cars structure to ensure that I have the cars maximum handling potential for my drive to the co-op in the villiage to buy some sausage rolls and a copy of the Radio Times. Jim Bell
Well. Reasons to be cheerful. One. Two. Three. Crank pulleys not broke, mechanic is a good bloke, Volvo's lookin smart and doesn't need a new part, driver's wheel still loud I'll drive it cause I'm not proud, thought it very funny and wouldn't take my money. Reasons to be cheerful. One two three. So the crank pulley has been wiggled and pryed to satisfaction of all parties. Consensus is THERES NOWT RONG WITH THAT. There's still a rotational noise from the driver's wheel area once up to road speeds. Suppose it might be the bearing or some brake related japery. I don't think I'm comfortable selling it while there's an unidentified noise so I'm gonna drive it round a bit and see what happens. Split_Pin
I'm guilty of just turning the radio up a wee bit where unidentified noises are concerned. Could it br disc/pad related? The Mini I bought recently had a rubbing noise from the NSR and the discs and pads are well past their best and being replaced next week.

Jim Bell
As seen in the EPIC COLLECTION FRED and thanks to LoserOne and HpiMate-rix I am now up to my nuts in another Japanese warm-hatch. I finally drove it today. It drives about as youd expect. Willing little revpot up the front. Snicketty-snick gearbox, sharp brakes. Quietly competent chassis. Bland interior. If you've driven a MK1 Yaris, it's like that but 30% sprots on top. Just what I'm looking for at the moment. Today I changed all the wiper blades (Haynes manual one star competency rating) as they were literally falling apart/decomposing/recycling themselves. Gave it a good wash and hoover out, put some air in the tyres and took it for a blast. Verdict: I like it. The S70 is still making a whir and occasionally light scraping noise from the driver's side wheel area and think it's gonna be up for sale. I only need one car and the little Yaris is stepping into the spotlight for a while. Next to a yellow fella. Jim Bell
Well the Volvo has returned to the Home Country with a TOP SHITTER so the Yaris is on the full time dailly grind. I'm not a fan of the idiot light system that Yari dashes sport (blue light coolant too cold, no light (shrugs) and red light too late) so I hooked up a live OBD2 MAGIC BOX that I think I got off Mrbenn. Now have a digital speedo to argue with the needle, live coolant temp and live charging volts. That's better. Also has econmeter style green to red bar at the bottom to indicate when you're having a great time. It's such a fun little thing to chuck around, even if you're only going as far as the shop. It sticks far better than it has any right to really. There's some (black)comedy paint repairs on the bonnet and it's wearing about the right amount of scratches, small dents and wheel paint flaking for its miles and age. The (manual) sunroof steals enough headroom inches to make it just the wrong side of comfort for my obscene length. I've had loads of Yari but never one with a sunroof. Im surprised at the difference in headroom but while you're living, you're always learning eh? I really must stop buying cars with sunrooves. I've seen something else (yellow) that a crave so the Yaris might be up for sale soon. The world keeps turning. My Cooper was a nice thing to drive but always felt underpowered. Why win a ROFFLE when you can just wait six months and swap your megafast Saab for it instead? Am pleased to report that @loseronewasn't lying when he said this isn't underpowered. I fucking love this little car and I hugely appreciate all the bits @Jim Bell did to it in his ownership. The gears are still stiff as Ian Watkins in a crèche but otherwise it's absolutely bob on. I think I might like chucking it about even more than my old Pumas, it's grippy and the supercharger is hilarious (I've never had a car with one before).
