This is as much of it as I can see. Not much help by eye.

I'll order a usb dongle thing and download Torque. Thanks for the tip man!

That’s definitely the tiniest pully I’ve ever seen.

How many horses will this have then, supposing it has all the good bits?

Hard to say. I dunno how reliable the quoted gains are and not sure what parts are on the car without taking it apart and comparing with standard items.

But, for the sake of speculation;

Suggest gains from the people selling the parts are -

Lightened smaller alternator pulley +5%.

Lightened, larger crankshaft pulley +2%.

Smaller charger pulley + 15%.

Induction is MEANT to be + 1 or 2%.

I don't think the more efficient cooler will actually add anything.

Standard power should be 163 bhp.

So plus (about) 23% should come out at about 199 - 200 bhp.

Car weighs 1150 kg.

Be interesting to have it on a Dyno and see. I think it'd be lower than that speculative number but it's certainly got a kick over standard.

I say with confidence having never driven a standard one.

I'd say pop round any time to collect, but it'll cost you more in fuel than buying a new one from eBay.  I'll dig one out and stick it in the MGF, then there's one in each car I'm likely to commute in, and you can find me near-ish work if you like?

About 10 years ago when I was a big BMW botherer I went to the show at Santa Pod where they had RWYB.

About the top 10 fastest cars on the day were BINIs, even against various big engine and engine swapped e30s (3.5s, e36 m3 engined, etc)

Power to weight they must be pretty competitive eh man? Specially if they're stripped out to the bare bones.

I'm sure I've got one, SOMEWHERE, unless it's been binned during a tidy up. Like you say though, it's probs easier just to snag one on eBay to be honest.

Now as a rule I generally don't try to fix cars as I generally make matters worse rather than better but in the face of a lot of negativety on the board lately and in the spirit of toil over whinge I thought fuck it. Let's attempt a very very easy job. Wcpgw?

The issue.

So.

Gather the appropriate tools, watch a YouTube tutorial and attempt the simples.

There's been a few revisions to Mini check straps over the years as they tend to wear out. With that in mind I went quite UNAUTOSHITE and instead of getting a second hand one for £15, I went to the dealers and bought a new and improved one for £30.

E10 on an extension. For the pillar fixing.

Spin to win.post-5435-0-09041700-1550777654_thumb.jpg

The torx screws on the door under the rubber boot were VERY rusty. One started to round but a quick prayer to UNIVERSE saw it give up it's sly grasp and wind out just as my stomach was starting to twist.

And it dropped to the ground with a satisfactory plop, like a baby giraffe being born into a carpark.

Lies. You have a box of Halfords Professional tools.

post-5435-0-05505900-1550776832.jpg

This must mean you are a pro.

(They're excellent sets btw, as you've probably found. I use mine way more than many of my other tools. Not least the handy box keeps them all together. I always make sure that when a job is finished, they all go back into the box without fail. Probably why I use that set more than all my other ones as I know they're all there.)

Popped the new one in and tightened it up.

Then I realized I'd left the rubber boot off. So I undid it and did it again properly.

I've got all the gear and no idea.

Most of my tools are as clean as the day they came out the shop. Still, they got a bit of use today, and you're right man, they are good tools.

Being an awful awful floor mat pervert, I couldn't resist a set of these genuine floor mats. They're so cool and we'll designed. They were silly expensive but they're just so right.

I know it's sad, but I really like them. Makes me smile when I open the car door. Someone's sat down and designed these mats. It's someone's vision and I appreciate the effort and the style.

Top fixing work there, is there another outing of the tool box soon?

If there's an obscenely easy job to do, I'll be there.

If there's something a child could do, I'll try it.

If it's one spanner rating or less in the HaynesRIP book of lies, I'll dig out the old spanners.

Don't expect miracles though. Unless you're listening to Smokey Robinson.

Jeez Jim, what are you doing rescuing my arse from attack like that. I've been out driving round weardale with the top down half the night, preparing for new insults coming my way and here you are fixing your own car so that I don't get injuries when retrieving my children.

Which asdas that? It's a great idea. I've nowhere to work on my car and van. Would they twist if you dropped the gearbox for a clutch?

It's Boldon man. I'm Sarf of the river these days. I bet you could work all day in the quiet parts of the car park(s) of Cineworld/Asda at Boldon. I can't see them being arsed as long as you're not bothering anyone. I go there to change wheels and do bits and bobs but obvs never had a car fully apart. And I usually do a bit shopping when I'm finished so I'm technically a customer.
