A rare old horse these days and a classic, classic lump of fun.

Oh FFS. Only other car I would have over a pug diesel... Starts saving for roffle tickets.

You won’t have long...

I also forgot, the cd (dunno about gls) seemed to have most of the wiring loom of a gsi or for gear so I went to my local wass dealer and got some seat pads and genooine switches and retro fitted heated seats to the CD, it also had the adapter for the computer  but without temp sensor was pointless.

Other random shit, I got doors handles of a vectra (same fit) and had them sprayed body colour instead of plaggy grey for ultra* cool lockless luxury

That looks a snorter mate, well played.

I know it's old hat around here to talk about how bloated modern cars are, but it's weird to see the size of it parked next to that C1... In mind Cavaliers were HUGE!

They were big cars once, but certainly not any more!

I was offered the cavalier in a swap for the diesel 305 but I didn't go for it.
I've known the owner for a few years through trading cars with each other.a96da475877e43841a10d760a19a88fc.jpg

Cavalier looks great.  I got a K Plate GLS for my Dad back in 1996, it was ex Met Police and I always. Thought it had  a few tales to tell.

That Ital, I had to look twice,  SL trim IIRC, If it is a 1.7, I had an identical one, blew it up in the outside lane of th M42.  I had it 'flat' and it dropped the head off a valve, made a loud bang, dropped onto 3 cyl, sparks out the zorst, I just kept my foot hard down.

Cav looks a gem. I loved both of my GSi's. Wasn't as keen on their propensity to go ginger around the arse, mind.

Thanks very much for another opportunity to share AtoB.

Here's an aspirational interior shot...

Well. What's been going on with the Cav?

Bit of faffing. Not much. It starts on the button with no grumbling or fussing.  Drives like you'd expect an old Cav to drive and generally Cars very well.

As with any old car, there is a snagging list:

Intermittent wiper not working.  Wipers not parking.     Done.

Horn not working.

Water leak into the boot.   Hopefully done.

Needs tyres.    Done

Needs (at least one) engine mount.

Mirrors/electric windows only work with the driver's door open.  Done

Boost leak.  Done

As I quite like the car, I set about the snagging list.

Ordered some decent tyres. They're yet to arrive.

I had a look at some of the boost pipes, tightened up some jubilee clips a adjusted the seating on some pipes and that seemed to make a real difference to the BOOOST.

Then onto electrics.

With a whattapp team of support shitters I checked relays and fuses. Start with the most probably first.

Wipers. IMG_20201105_111541.thumb.jpg.1a8ad72505e2cfa46ab1b15703f006a2.jpg

One of the two fuses for the EW was missing. Id checked one, but hadn't realised there was a separate one that covered windows+mirrors. @320touring put me right and I got the window's moving with the doors closed.

Kind of!!
