Replacement Aeriel

Recommended Posts

Our MGZR run around is suffering from very poor radio reception. I thought it was the aeriel to set Lead, so liberated one from down the yard along with the headligning and stopped it all over. Didn't make anth diff and I don't want to drop the headlining again.

Anyone any experience of these https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F173310682387

Fit it up behind the mirror, but only if they are not a pile of shite.

Save yourself the money and the heartbreak - things like that are a gimmick.  Car aerials use the body as a 'ground plane'; in laymans terms it's part of the antenna system and vital for really good reception.  That is why cars with the aerial at the front (above your head) tend to receive signals from behind better, and vice versa.

So i'd buy one of those extending 5 piece masts from eBay, drill it into the top of the front wing and run that fresh length of coax it comes with straight into the headunit.  You will be amazed.

Ah, the custom made coat-hanger aerial, haven't seen one of those since the 80's!!!

Anyway........ if your ZR has the same type of aerial on the roof just above the A-pillar as my 214 does then we have the same problem. Reception is crap, tried almost everything except replacing & repositioning the bloody thing as BI suggests.
