Don’t suppose you have any Capri’s left do you?

That's it for Capris, I'm afraid.

Have you discovered any more old Matchbox or corgi in your lock up Eddy?

I haven't been over since my last posting but I will probably go at the beginning of next week, so stay tuned, there may very well be more!

I've been over to the lockup again, and I think I must have all or nearly all of the cars out of there now.

So those are the cars, usual rates apply (Matchbox size 50p, Corgi size £1, postage extra).  The rates are arbitrarily adjustable.

But now, here's a treat, a GENUINE BBC DOCTOR WHO costume!  Well part of one anyway, a jacket/waistcoat.

Made for Jonathan Adams to wear in an episode called "The Robbers," it turned up in a costume auction that my sister attended many years ago, and because it wasn't complete (this is all there was) she and her husband decided not to keep it in their extensive sci-fi collection, so they passed it on to me.  I've never worn it, and probably never will, not least because I've put on weight since then.  ("Then" being about 1993-4)  It's beautifully made, nylon scales lined with cotton and trimmed with suede.  The suede has gone a bit mildewed but I'm sure could be rescued by someone who knows what they're doing.  It should be fastened by lacing, which I think is supposed to go up the wearer's back, but there was no lacing with it when I got it.  What's it worth, a tenner plus post?

Holy shit!

Want, but may have to wait until payday.

As you may have figured, I'm a bit of a 'Whovian'

That's fine, when is payday?  I've had this 25 years or so, another week or two won't matter.

I'm pleased to report the jacket arrived safely, thanks to Sealtainn for letting me know.

Meanwhile... I went to a car show yesterday (and got sunstroke, ffs...) and took some boxes to lay out on Huggy's bonnet.  Most of my Matchbox etc stock, my three remaining sale 1/18s and some Haynes books.  The 1930s Alfa sold, as did quite a lot of the small cars, and I came out something like twenty quid up.  I've left the stock in the car for next time.  Must also remember to keep my hat on!

I've now done a couple more events with stock spread out on or around Huggy, and I reckon each time I've sold enough to cover my petrol.  In a Cadillac!  That's pretty good.  The batch of Husky models a few posts back is still here if anyone fancies them.

Done.  See, I said something else might take your fancy! :)  You're up to 9 now.

It looks like I've just about reached the end of this clearance, so I'm prepared to start packing up the small orders that are left, yours being one of them.

PM blitz coming up: stand by Noel Tidybeard, Christine, Picketlinefeelingfine, Blakey79, Marvin'sMom, CMS206.

What’s left from the sale eddy?

Still two of the 1/18s: the modern Cadillac and the 1930s Mercedes.  In the small stuff, surprisingly little.  I'll spread them out later today and do a photo.  I offered a bloke on FB some Corgi/Dinky stock at £1 each and he hasn't got back to me, so they can go in this sale now.

674403059_LMM919003.thumb.jpg.0465c653c7d676d10ac42210f7581c4c.jpg

L-R: Corgi Jeep FC150 pickup (this came in a job lot from another Shiter but I've already got three in my sale box); Corgi Toyota Corolla; Corgi Oldsmobile Toronado; Corgi Oldsmobile police car; Dinky Studebaker President; Corgi 1/36 Jag XJ12C police car, dismantled but complete apart from the lightbar on the roof, which has gone missing.

Any of that taking your fancy?

OK, photography done.

1658772466_Sep001.thumb.jpg.222cd07f3b024f8d2d805a0e1713405e.jpg

The three Jeeps on the back row are £1 each, same as the other Corgis I already showed you.  The four rows of smaller stuff, all 50p each.

Now the next lot....

1274807296_Sep002.thumb.jpg.de4c76e4e5c3326fad8c69e6a0369170.jpg

...is mostly junk, really, 10p each if you can make any use of them.  Mostly 1/43-ish.

Now then...

1612839932_Sep003.thumb.jpg.1f3b4830fadc6707f6730c6af5051cda.jpg

Britains Land Rover LWB!  Scale is 1/32.  The blue one is pretty good except for missing the canopy and driver.  The red one has no chassis, so it's just for spares really.  Fiver the pair?

And then...

1458110772_Sep004.thumb.jpg.6d5026a5be19d91aaec6f7acf282a02f.jpg

I believe I mentioned this up-thread: Corgi 1/36 Mercedes taxi.  50p for this one.

And finally....

36660727_Sep005.thumb.jpg.4410baf4bbe00cd1045735e25c2a608a.jpg

Yesteryear Cord, ripe for restoration.  £1 for this.

All prices plus postage; usually £3.  Paypal details by PM, and don't forget to give me your address!

Being two of the resident American-auto lickers on here, danthecapriman and I have been having some PM chatter about possibly going abroad and bringing one back.  Here's one that we fancied quite strongly until Dan realised his passport had expired...

So you see the sort of thing we like!
Well... then this one appeared in the ebay thread...

Dan and I discussed it at length (when was the last time you had a PM conversation run to 8 pages?) and decided I should bid on it.  We set a ceiling, because neither of us wanted to be involved in a bidding war even though we would be watching when it ended.
And we were outbid.  Fair enough.
Then I got a Second Chance Offer.  Winning bidder turned up, declared it wasn't for him, and scarpered.  The seller liked the car so much he almost didn't send me the Offer, and when it took me a while to reply (consulting with Dan) he almost wanted me to turn it down so he could keep it.  But I didn't.  Consultation showed that we both still thought it was a good buy, so I accepted.  Arrangements had to be made, money drawn, directions printed, etc etc.
So yesterday my friend Roger arrived, a mere three hours later than we had arranged.  Immediately he declared his 2006 Fabia wasn't well and he didn't fancy it all the way to Derby and, crucially, back.  So ok, we went in my Saab.  He liked that, a lot.  Derby is almost 200 miles from Barrow, in case you wanted to know.  You know what my Saab looks like so you don't need pics of that stage of the trip.
So, here we are at the seller's farm.

Let's take a minute to explore some of his other toys...

...and believe me, these are only highlights!
So, now let's look at the Cadillac in a bit more detail...

Don't worry, I do have the bonnet mascot!  Seller removed it at my suggestion, because the car will live outside on the street.  I don't want to lose the ornament!
So, we set off to drive home, after one of the compulsory-element pics...

Seller directed us to a gas station and a chippy...

(I might cross-post that one to Cars AndGirls...)  The girl in the white shirt is one of the chippy staff, she just couldn't get enough of the car!  I took a load of pics on her phone of her sitting in it, admiring it from outside... then finally we could have our tea and get back on the road.  We stopped at a couple of services, not least because driving at night with no instrument lighting is pretty stressful!  Especially when you have motorway roadworks for mile after mile, with a 50 limit and cameras.

So we finally arrived in Barrow at 1.00am, having listened to Ken Bruce covering the Eurovision most of the way up.  Yes, the Cadillac has its original factory AM/FM radio, and it works!
This morning I thought I'd better do something about the lack of door-locking, that the seller pointed out to me.  The car has 4 keys, all slightly different!  One for trunk, one for ignition... er...
A little consultation with Dan brought forth the suggestion that the power-lock actuators might be at fault, and upon dismantling the driver's door, this was indeed the case.

I disconnected the actuator from the lock and all was well.  One of the "other" keys was found to fit the doors, so now I can lock and unlock them manually.  Good enough.  When I took my dog out, I couldn't resist grabbing this shot...

And then I decided it needed a clean, so I swept it out, found a carpet offcut for the trunk, and washed the thing.  It does look better.

Several of my neighbours have come to have a look, and gone away impressed.

What happens now?  Well the immediate plan is just that I should (and will!) drive it, as much as possible given that I don't have anywhere off-road to keep it.  This is at least partly why we went for a mechanically-sound car (which it certainly seems to be) with cosmetic issues.  One worries less about a fresh ding, you know.... To this end I'll be going to work in it tomorrow, and stopping at the Post Office on the way home to get the tax in my name.  This car is the right side of 40 years old, so I get free tax.  Lovely!
What happens in the further-distance remains to be seen.

Lads, lads, lads. Its been ages since I bought a thing, and I LOVE BUYING THINGS. I couldn’t sleep last night, for instance.
I feel great because buying vehicles SOLVES ALL OF LIFE’S PROBLEMS (apart from parking permits).
Anyway, I just agreed to buy a thing, with collection commencing today or tomorrow.

In the meantime, let’s spy on the vendors house on street view shall we? My little bundle of joy is tucked in behind that rather tasty 164.

1998 SUBARU IMPREZA NON-TURBO AWD MANUAL ESTATE WITH ROOF BARS AND MASSIVE FOGLIGHTS FOR DOOM SCENARIOS
Bought this off Bramz last month, done a few hundred miles in it.  Perfectly reliable, school run kaos etc
But had some sudden and big household bills loom, so having a big sell-off

MOT is only to end of this month though. But everything works - all windows, no dash warnings; it's been a handy and hunky dory motor car.  Interior tidy.  Exterior pretty clean, bar the odd knock and scuff and arch bubble.  It's not a shed by any means.
History file though up to a point, recent bills for service items, but cambelt roulette.  132k.  Tyres are about 18 months old, but they are budget ditchfinders.  I intended to keep it, wanted this exact spec for years, but will have to let it go after all.
It will need that dicky front caliper replacing as the stickiness comes back after a few days after freeing it off.  Discs look to have little time left on them too.  Bonus is being the non-Turbo it has drums on the rear.  Synchromesh scratchy when cold, clutch feels a bit crunchy action but plenty of meat there
Bonuses are: it's green, it's the estate, excellent heater, it's AWD for snowzombievirus kaos, got insurance cover it on classic multicar policy (Hagerty) as now it's old enough 1998
I just need to get my money back.  It owes me 400 notes.  Can go today
Yes, the number plate is now fixed properly

Located M1 corridor Watford <> Luton
      £7 a ticket or 3 for £20
      Bargain.
I'm keeping the Alfa 156 Wagon for now

Well, OK, just a few brochures for sale, after having sorted through my pile over Christmas.

The postage price will vary according to weight, so the prices below exclude postage - we'll sort this out in PMs. Obviously, if anyone wants more than one, I'll send them together. All are in excellent condition, with some very minor age related creases.
