Weird American mid size cars come up on eBay oftenish, just keep an eye on the tat thread. There was a great little Olds wagon about a month ago for less than a grand iirc.

It tends to be FWD V6 stuff that’s fairly run of the mill, random Oldsmobiles and such. You’re unlikely to get a Ford that’s not a Crown Vic or a Chevrolet that’s not a Camaro (unless you like dayvans and Luminas) though.

There was a Saturn on earlier this year!

Might be worth checking Auto Trader too.

There was (and may still be) on eBay a green Olds 88 from about 1995ish that looked fantastically shit.

Nor me, I just remember back in the '90s the stunning Massimo Tamburini designed Ducati 916/748 with it's dual lamps got a crappy single headlamp for the Australian market model to meet local regs.

 

Thus it looks crap.

 

 

I actually prefer it with one proper lamp.

Where does one purchase a shite American car? FWD small-engined type American shite to be more specific.

 

Loads of places to look for muscle cars, but I don't want (can't afford) one of them.

Dream Cars at Redhill have a fair bit of stuff kicking about - there were a couple of wagons - one was a Caprice I think stood about this morning. Not small but unusual.

I have this sun strip on my mx5 which intrudes on the area swept by the wipers, presumeably this would be an mot fail - could I just fitted shorter wipers ?

There are rules about percentage of glass area swept by wipers but more importantly having the 'screen obscured by things stuck to it is a fail.

At a traffic light controlled crossroad,If I'm turning right ,  there's a car in front also waiting to turn right , and my front wheels are 3 ft over the white  line , and the light turns red....( for some time,  as the sequence is staggered for on coming traffic ,and green shows for longer  in their direction , ) when the oncoming traffic stops for their red , can i legally proceed ? Or should i  wait for the next sequence , 3ft  over the white line ?

Depends if obstructing traffic flow of on coming vehicles. Probably not in the Highway Code.

Just like the mini roundabout near me where everybody arrives at the same time and is to every bodies right so no one goes....

Police car behind but  on my left too, :shock:  he had to stop as the light was red . I was  straddling the white line ... so when the car in front turned   right I followed, as i had already crossed the" threshold" . Yes my position would have hindered an artic , or a fire engine,   should one have wanted  to turn into my road...

I didn't get a tug from the police car  , and I felt i was doing the correct thing according to the highway code ? Turn right against a red , before the other light changes ..If i had stayed there , everyone would be tooting at me !!  

Lets face it ,if i considered it illegal ,and knowing a police car(  that  i was fully  aware of) was watching , I wouldn't have proceeded ..

 

Not only give way to the right on a roundabout, you should give way to a car already on it . Be the first to dump the clutch  !!!

Sounds like you did the safe and logical thing to me!

 

Mini roundabout so dumping clutch will launch you into the drivers door of the next car if they decide go to first too.

Answer: if there is someone else already out in the middle of junction turning right and there isn't enough room to sit behind it and be fully over the stop line, then sit behind the stop line until the obstruction in front is out of the way, then move forward into that space if the lights are green.

If there was a camera on that traffic light you will have been papped, I'm afraid....

 

 

 

Traffic light cameras are triggered either by using ground loops that are cut into road surface or radar technology. When using loops, as the traffic lights turn red the system becomes active, any vehicle passing over the sensor in the road after this time is then photographed.

You should not be obstructed by anything when turning right except oncoming traffic so if there was a car in front turning right you should not have entered the junction.

 

Real world answer is just common sense.

 

I had a learner on test and she crossed the line to turn right but basically missed the opportunity so moved forward to not obstruct the pedestrian crossing part (very large junction) and at the end of her test was told she passed. She asked why and he basically said we all fuck up but it is how you deal with it that matters. Just not in those words.

Rule 174 on box junctions has this in it: "However, you may enter the box and wait when you want to turn right, and are only stopped from doing so by oncoming traffic, or by other vehicles waiting to turn right"

 

 

That to me suggests that they've changed their tune a bit.

The Xantia has a leak on the front drivers side strut. Is unsafe to drive like this? Im aware the brakes run off green blood as well so are they likely to fail as a result.

And finally, is LHM still freely available at motor facors and halfords?

Sounds like return pipes. How bad is the leak? How fast does it need topping up? Return pipes are available but are of shit quality so generally seen as a consumable.

It isn't really safe for any leak on the LHM system as it, as you say, ultimately affects the brakes.

LHM is available at halfords and the like as far as I can see.

∆The braking system won't be affected until well after the STOP light comes on to show the LHM level is low.So as long as you keep it topped up then it should be safe.The return pipes aren't that expensive from Citroen.

KYB are absolutely fine, they're probably one of the biggest manufacturers of dampers in the world.

Also, gas or oil... I've never been able to tell the difference and unless you're looking to shave 1/10th of a second off a lap of Brands Hatch, I would go for the cheaper ones!

They all have oil in, but the gas ones are positively charged with gas under pressure on top of the oil.

When the oil is under pressure, it's less likely to cavitate, so the damping is more consistent.

It's very unlikely you'll tell the difference between X damper with or without gas, but generally gas charged dampers are of better quality than basic "no gas" dampers.
