where would i find a parts diagram with parts numbers for a toyota 1mz-fe engine in a camry?

google fails me, and I rang the main dealer and he said he'd email me one. but hasn't.

Been offered one silly cheap by a workmate. He was told it's hgf but it never overheats. Sit at, 3 bars on temp display when warmed up and driving

I've just remembered my mates obd diagnosis computer shown revs and temperature on my van when it was plugged in. Can you buy digital displays that plugs straight into the obd port?

You can as previously mentioned or you could buy a bluetooth OBD dongle and use the torque app to view all the live data on your mobile.

My buddy has a 2005 Fiesta "engine cuts out whilst driving, engine light on...

Gets home, reversing and engine light, oil light, battery light all on, while running"

Any suggestions apart from petrol and a match?

Burn it and buy my 2004 one for £350 which only has one warning light on rather than all of them

I know it's not normally done but can you reuse head bolts?

Depends if they are designed to stretch. A lot of cars these days seem to use stretch head bolts. I wouldn't risk it as I've heard of cases where the stretched bolt bottoms out in the hole - so either not enough "togetherness" or a sheared bolt results.

Why do you see certain cars with certain registration regions more often than others?

For example - Renaults around 2007-2009 often have HK__ or plates, and Hyundai Coops seem to carry an RX__ plate 80% of the time.

Volkswagen Golfs around the 2004 mark often wear OY__ plates. Those three seem to tie in with head office locations, is there any benefit to pre-registering cars in this way?

I see a lot of early 2000s Focuses and Fiestas with NA__ plates though, which is Newcastle/North East. Nothing to do with head offices, yet they're definitely more prevalent than any other registration sequence. WHY?

I see a lot of Kia Ceratos on plates LD07Z__...

I'll see what data comes through the obd first. I know speed doesn't.

Now would it be a stupid idea to buy this heap. I haven't got any old shit lying around the workshop for when I am not so busy so want something to mess about with. I don't expect to make anything out of getting it back on the road but would rather not chuck a load of money down the drain. Are Regals worth anything ? It is up for £600 but there is no way I would pay that for it.

Daft as it sounds that's not a bad price for it. I know someone who sells engine for reliants for that price.

£2000ish as a good running car, looks like a lot of work.....

(a man with skills and a workshop and needs toys to play with, I can fill it for you!)

Really?

I thought that was a standard output. I get it off my Saab using Piston (another free app). Guess it might depend on leccy or cable speedo, yours is cable isn't it?

Paint question

Washed the van roof with detergant and sponge to get rid of the green stuff that grows up there and makes runoff that stains the van's "forehead".

Sponged some of the paint off of the roof.

It is only the microscopically thin Transit white that is flaking off, the undercoat seems solid.

Question. Is the undercoat waterproof or porous? If it's porous I will keep it greasy with the Bilt Hambwr goop. Doesn't really matter what it looks like up there.

Yes it's cable.

As has already been suggested it is most likely a turbo hose split. Ford turbo hoses are total shit. I had a Focus one lasted just over a year so out of warrenty. Take them off and check carefully I am sure you will find a split, best to buy one of the lurid blue ones off ebay as they are made of decent material and last longer than the originals.

Thanks for all the info people, finally getting around to checking replies (I know, it's been a while!). I think split hose is likely - one thing i don't think I've mentioned is that the engine is covered in oil too. Got considerably worse over the last few months. It doesn't seem to be leaking onto the road massively but it makes it bloody difficult to check anything in the engine compartment. Anyone knows any good videos showing how to replace out turbo hoses?

I have to say i've been tempted to just scrap the Mondeo altogether as I have no time to fiddle with it. But then i remember than when it works fine it's great, and it's not like i'm ever going to find a car this big that can achieve 40+ mpg both on the motorway and around town for less than a grand, and I haven't even got half of that to play with, so getting a few thousand more miles out of it would be great.

Undo clips, pull hose off, slide new hose on, do up clips.

Nowt too it really.

They go for good money running. Think James from castle hill garage sold this one last year for about £900 ish, could be wrong. Looks like the buyer has not done much. Bits for my Rialto are cheap enough and easy to come by, not so sure about the Regals. I still would  :-D

I have decided to give it a miss. Lots of rot coming up in the mot history and then the seller tried the "I have got someone coming" game which always puts me off

The Regals and mk1 robins don't have a galvanised chassis so do like to rot a bit. Shame was quite looking forward to seeing it fixed up.

You customise Torque to show which displays you want.

I think the Fiesta will be on 1950s technology.

I'm not sure a C15 will have a speed sensor to display data from as it's a cable speedo.

Posted

Do late C15s use a speedo cable? My elderly Berlingo has an electronic speedo.

The one C15 speedo cable I can find on eBay fits model years up to 2000 according to the listing.

Yes, it splits in the engine bay before going through the bulkhead.
