Some hard graft this evening. Decided to address the harrowing state of the garage.

WARNING - This is what owning a fucked MGF does to your tidying mojo:

A lot of tidying and sorting left me with this lot for the tip

And a tidy garage!

And finally a car in it that is not aforementioned MGF of much pain.

So, I've embarked on the first leg of a collection caper. Train from Springburn in Glasgow to Edinburgh Waverley where there will be a further onward connection, followed by a short light rail trip.

It's oft said that a collection caper is "hastily convened",  but to put this in perspective, at 4pm I was just leaving the football to head for a pint. Now I'm heading to another country to collect a motor. Comms were swift, plans confirmed and I should be there about the back of 8. Insurance has been swapped over already.

On the sliding scale of hasty convenience, this is an outlier by virtue of distance traveled and speed of arranging.

Just realised I've never updated this with fleet movements, a train journey is probably as good a time as any.

Saab is currently out of MOT but I plan to put it through a test. Needs coolant bypass valve as it's sprung a leak, have my suspicions of the ignition cassette but it seems to be behaving now...

405 is off the road for winter, tucked away in the garage.

Blue 205 doing as blue 205 does, 60mpg while putting a smile on your face.

Red 205 doing nothing the blue 205 does and pissing now pissing fuel out of the injection pump, possible scrap. It's just turning out to be a bit of an ungrateful bastard, but does still have about 10 months test I think. Will look at it with a fresh head, believe pump can leak from backed up fuel return pipe, so will re-route this to a temporary container and give it a run to see if it clears up.

Polo 1.9 TDi Estate, this has been documented elsewhere but not appeared on this thread. I crashed the fucker into the back of a volvo at low speed. Volvo dealer verified no damage at all to the Volvo, so nothing more came of it, but has re-arranged the polo's face a wee bit. Absolutely lethal "Autogreen" tyres replaced. Much more confidence inspiring now. It is absolutely harrowingly dull, the interior is shockingly made, but it now has four decent boots, a bit of MOT and should run on veg so I'd kind of like to get some miles out of it. Would shed no tears if it never saw another test. It's only on 77k.

When I come out the house and have to choose a steed between Polo and 205, the 205 has won 9 times out of 10.

Todhills achieved, should be back in Glasgow around 1am. Pez shot, but no motor spirit required as the bastard had a full tank.

Car drives absolutely Bob on. Not sure what its billed as "High Torque" in comparison to? A Briggs and Stratton lawnmower? The gearbag has a nice snib to it though, so rowing it along is not a bother.

1 hour ago, Jim Bell said:

I bet you haven't @Spiny Norman. I bet you gave it to me with a set of 405 keys attached.

And now finally it has been attached to the correct key. Like Cinderella's boot.

Ahhh, so I did.
Top bombing with the Labia.

On the subject of buying the car to fit the keyring, that was a significant part of the decision I made to buy an old Jag once. I'd got a wad of keyrings  off someone on here IIRC and a year or two later found myself piloting an XJ40 across the M8 towards home.
