Saab C900 - Off to the new owner

Look at this beauty.... From a time when cars were all different and turbos weren't for the masses.

Pretend you are a 1990s architect as your rock up to work everyday.

If anyone wants a starter classic car this is it, especially if they like a blue interior.

Absolute doddle to work on and prices seem to be in the ascendancy.

It's 1990 Saab 900 8v Auto.
133k miles on it
364 days mot
3 speed auto that works flawlessly
Head gasket was changed about 100 miles ago
Almost brand new tyres all round
Heater is immense
All of the normal Saab quirks like fresh air vents in centre, amazing visibility all round
Central locking (a bit temperamental)
Non leaking PAS
Keys go in central console so if you have an accident they don't stab you in the knee
Comes with full set of brake flexis, fuel filter and some injection spares.
I think there is a bag of history for it at NJGleeds garage so will chase that up
Best opening bonnet ever
Comes with an extra switch wired to turn the fan on manually if needed (also comes on automatically)
Comes with a decent stereo to listen to your jazz funk with.

Bits that need sorting

Front jacking point needs a tickle with sparkle stick - Was advisory (or whatever they are called)
Both windows won't go up that last few mm - this is a well known fault with the quadrant wearing/breaking
Sunroof drains need unclogging - I attacked it with a coat hanger but didn't really get anywhere
Headlining is droopy drawers
From stone cold you need to let it idle for a minute before touching the throttle otherwise it floods. Once up to temp it isn't any problem at all.
Rear boot lock is solid, so needs taking out and cleaning
Cl can be temperamental - I think it is a bad earth as started working when I tooted the horn
Rev counter starts working when you go over a bump

Small crack is in the bottom of the windscreen at the edge.
Dash is cracked
Door bottoms have Norwegian Chrome
As does one of the wheel arches
Boot gas struts need replacing. Comes with free broom handle to avoid noggin taps.
Missing a front headlight washer blade

Whilst that sounds a massive list I have put everything I know of on there. Most it is a case of ignore and fix in your own time. I seriously wouldnt hesitate to drive this anywhere.

Will be hoovered and washed before you collect it, it was planned for today but Accrington weather was wet.

Roffle winner will get 4 pies from two of the famous* Accrington pie purveyors. Vegetarian and vegan options may be available.

Ticket price is £15 each or two for £25.

Located in Accrington, can collect from Preston station.

All updated.

When I looked at Turbo prices they seem to be a fair few grand now. I sold my last one for £400 and there was nothing wrong with it!

My Carlssonn went for £3500 and I think they are probably 3 times that now.

A bit of tinkering and I think this would be worth north of a grand

Are these as long as they look in photos? That thing must be bigger than my 9-5.

No, they're quite dinky but the proportions make them look longer - it's that big sexy bonnet.

I've yet to see a parking bay that my 9-5 doesn't overhang at both ends! Makes it easy to spot in car parks though.

Grumpius, Mrs H would be very cross if I bought the car outright but apparently roffles are ok! Something that brings me pleasure for £25 is acceptable silly boy behaviour.

It's shorter than my 406 - focus ISH size. They are quite skinny with massive bonnet and slopey back so look longer than they are.

Yep still a Borg Warner in them.

Bugger knows about revs as the counter wasn't working on my motorway trip. Sounds like it needs to change up but then modern cars tend to focus on lower revs.

All randoms allocated.

^ yes as they are essentially the centre section of a 60s car with added fore and aft, they are relatively narrow and proportionally this tends to exaggerate the length of them. I can wholly recommend ownership. A gap of 13years and well over 100 cars has made me appreciate their idiosyncracies all the more 11/10 wud recommend

My identical 'Scruffy Saab' ran at 2,800--3,000 rpm for 70mph.
