Pat Earrings
I should list the stuff better for prospective buyers 174K miles, with 20 stamps in the book, 12 months MOTCambelt/pump done this yearStarter motor done 3 years ago with receipts (big job)Other invoices for work such as boot seals, bonnet struts, ARB bushes, gearbox oil changesSilky smooth drive and no knocks etc Only bad points are the OSR arch could do with a sanddown and go over as slight bubbling but it's solid, aerial is stuck up, and alloys need a refurb, and it could do with new discs and pads up front. That's really it. Mechanically it is one of the most cherished LS400's out there, with 2 massive jobs already completed giving peace of mind for a long while 2 keys and all the manuals/wallets/papers. Shitting hell I don't want to let this go so soon. Absolutely pissing me off writing this.

Pat Earrings
Absolutely sour. I'm inclined to just hope it doesn't sell to somehow manage but truth be told, I need the money. Might have a decent cheap runabout to save me so just need this gone. I might even ask the future buyer for first dibs to have it back in the future I'm that attached to this.. BorniteIdentity
Blimey. Four days. Did you put the V5 in your name or into trade? Unfortunately - on the open market - a V8 with someone who’s selling within a week is going to ring horribly deafening dissonant alarm bells. If it’s in trade - nothing to declare sir. Definitely wltm - but I reckon I’d be sick of 30mpg doing 550 miles a week in pretty much no time. A shame, because I will have one of these before too long. Hope life gives you a break dude. I've bought/sold countless times before on here and that's why I'm offering it here. If it doesn't sell as quick as I want it to, then I'll just find another route to get the money I need for what's happened. Genuinely, don't want to sell this. I just came back from a drive and sat in it for ages lamenting my personal life lol.
Pat Earrings
Baring in mind I've already done at least 260 faultless miles in heavy traffic, motorway and around town. It's a beauty. Happy to let anyone prod it and go under, I did the same!
Spottedlaurel
I'm really sorry circumstances dictate you're having to move it on so quickly. I wish there was a way I could take it on, it sounds like an excellent example which would suit my so-called needs perfectly, but clearly you need cash ASAP and I can't see a way of me selling the Camry and/or the Sunny fast enough to help out. loserone, eddyramrod and Pat Earrings

Schaefft
Really sad to see you having to let it go already. Hadn't I bought that 540i (and Celsior), I would seriously consider it. I really hope this will stay within the Autoshite community, this was my favorite thread to follow since you got it. Pat Earrings

rantingYoof
Plans are hopefully afoot. I cannot let an opportunity to own a 5spd LS400 pass me by. Particularly one as nice as this. fatharris, Jim Bell, Wingz123 and 3 others

Pat Earrings
Unfortunately I think so..but with a caveat I get first dibs back. Still feel heavy hearted right about now. rantingYoof
A plan has been formulated with the help of Sims and another Shiter who was the very first in my MmmV6 thread to express an interest. I'll leave the detective work to you, unless the Shiter wants to out themselves of course. Sunday is the crunch time. An LS400 collection will happen in the AM. An Omega collection in the PM. The last piece of the puzzle is whether I will be on a tubular transportation device on Sunday morning or whether I'll be able to cadge a lift from my dad... rantingYoof
Insurance is being a right palava for this.I'm with the Civil Service Insurance Society (because of my job), and they use Zurich. CSIS are absolutely marvellous, and I cannot fault them. Unfortunately, Zurich apparently only allow 32+ year olds to insure 4 litre cars, and even when the helpful lady got a quote for me (I'm 32 in November), it was TWO GRAND. So far the cheapest quote I've had from more specialist insurers (Footman James flatly refused because I need business use) is £696. Compare The Meerkat has thrown me a lifeline with a company called Provident...£441 with £375 compulsory excess, protected no claims and 3000 business miles a year and one non-fault claim. Works out at one payment of £88.25 and monthly payments of £36.45. £55 fee for cancelling outside of cooling off period! Jesus! I should stress I'm 31 years old, have been driving for nearly 50% of my life, have full NCB (it was protected), and live in a goodish area. Sunday is happening regardless, so I may have to bite the bullet and take Provident's offer.

gadgetgricey
Also direct line as business use automatically included.
rantingYoof
Have you tried Lancaster? £900. Having reflected a little bit, I think £440 fully comp is probably the best I'm going to get. I know others have insured similar for less but I think my postcode is lumbered with others that insurance companies regard unfavourably. So maybe my expectations are a bit high. Spottedlaurel
Are you insuring it as your main car or a second 'classic'? RH did mine OK as the latter, and that included business use. All my current bilge is with FJ, and again that includes business use and I'm pretty sure my LS400 was with them too. JohnK
JohnK
As above, when I bought the LS400 from Nigel (SpottedLaurel) a fair few people said they had either ridiculous quotes or told it was uninsurable. I rang FJ and was advised £25 admin fee would see it on my policy. That was as a 'classic' though and not as my main car.
rantingYoof
It would be my only car, with no access to another one, which probably doesn't help. Funny how a high performance Omega, with unobtanium parts, costs £300 to insure on the same terms. No matter. I'll bite the bullet and go through Provident today. rantingYoof
I've heard stories about wear-and-tear suspension/steering bits being quite difficult to obtain. I thought that this may be the case because a lot of Omegas have already been scrapped and broken, meaning that the pool of dead cars with a full contingency of parts is probably quite low now. Pillock
I wouldn't have thought unobtainable parts on an old car makes the premium go up, they'll just write it off and give you £50 and a twix. Unobtainable parts like on a newish Saab would cause probs.... rantingYoof and chadders
rantingYoof
Insurance sorted. £411 fully comp in the end. Can manage it all online, which reduces mid-term adjustment fees to a more reasonable £10. Wingz123 and anonymous user
