The grumpy thread

Are there people out there that need this kind of guidance??

Probably not - but there are people who are t*ght-arsed enough to see the chance to claim a refund because the salad cream they bought did not contain a tomato and a lettuce leaf as the illustration on the label had lead them to believe it would.

I agree it's laffable - but my guess is that this is the manufacturers protecting themselves from money-grabbing time wasters.

In much the same way that paracetamol boxes will carry a warning that they contain paracetamol

For the first year since it fell of the back of my Dad's lorry - he rescued a bunch of ex-display top quality B&Q stuff about a decade ago - I've had to put my artificial (green) tree in the loft as there's no space at my parents house now that me and all my stuff have nearly finished moving in. I'm equally disappointed that several items of superb* furniture that I'm very fond of will have to part ways with me and I'll likely not be able to replace them with anything as equally spectacular.

Choices had to be made, obviously, but this malarky of squeezing a three bed house into one room of a house is getting a bit wearing now. Spent tonight dismantling my bed so I can move that in tomorrow along with my PC... then I have to keep coming back here to move the last few boxes of clothes and kitchen stuff and getting the place cleaned and in places the decorating touched up to keep the landlord sweet. Don't know if I can be arsed, particularly with how grim the place is looking now I'm not here to tidy up after my slovenly housemate.

I really hope this all works. Princess still needs repairing and I'm borrowing drive space from my parents neighbour since I've been offered a reasonable transport solution for her that won't risk me getting told off by the boys in blue. Maestro also needs welding for the MoT in March as the bottom of the drivers door and rear arch have dissolved beyond the point of a gaffer tape fix which is yet more money I could do without spending.

Wasn't paying much attention to the two bob gobshite in the taxi queue, par for the course on a Sat night. Seemingly though he was threatening his bird who was clearly scared of the twat, and I just ignored it and waited for my cab.

I'm ore pissed off with myself, even though (as my mates pointed out) it's best to keep out of 'domestics' sometimes you wished you'd done something. I cannot fucking abide bullies and people who pick on girls, so all I can feebly do now is pray he got out of the cab and crushed to death by a gritter or something. What a complete and utter fucking shit house.

I once intervened in a similar situation. I'm no fighter, but look scary. Like you, I hate violence towards women, and HAD to do something. This bloke was laying into his "lass" in Nottingham, pulling her hair and banging her head off a shop door. So I pulled him away (rather brutally, I might add) and flung him quite hard against a lamp-post, which made a resounding (and rather satisfying) "BONGGGGGGGG" noise as his head clocked it. I turned to the woman as the twat collapsed in a heap, and she started to set about me with her handbag....!!!! I looked her in the eye, asked her if she knew what she was doing, which she confirmed, so I said "You're fucking welcome to him". 6 months later or so, his picture was on the front page of the Evening Post...... he'd been locked up for beating a woman up...... GO bloody figure.

I find it astonishing how often that sort of thing goes on, some neanderthal laying into his victim and at the moment that someone intervenes it all "You take your hands off him, he's one of the good ones" etc, absolutely mystifying or perhaps its part of the victim/enabler thing going on or just simply too far down the brain damage route

Happens all the time. We were called to a domestic, lifted the man, the woman then started on us, so we lifted her too. Also lifted one of the neighbours who wouldn't butt out. Pain in the arse, we had other things to do.

460's been keyed on the same door it was previously. I now have two key lines on the same door.

It will be parked somewhere else after its stay in the unit. It may well stay in the compound. I'm fucking sick of people taking chunks out of it because it isn't a fucking 10 plate Nissan Juke.

Is that why they're keying it?

It's as a good a reason as any if you subscribe to twat logic, like these lot do. I had a bloke with a Puke say it sounded 'crap' when I fired it up, so who knows. Who cares?

Both the front ball joints I fitted to the van about 2 months ago are knocking, since the gaiters have split and are falling to pieces. WTF, they have done maybe 800 miles at most. Nice one GSF! They're bolt in ones too, so it's not like I even fucked them up fitting them.

Come to think of it the brake pads and heater fan I got from there are also shit. I should know better by now, but they deliver within about half an hour and they're usually fairly cheap. Obviously I lose the reciepts straight away so rather than getting an exchange, I just moan about stuff on the internet.

I seem to have totally lost my Mojo for car fettling lately I've done almost nowt with the Maser in recent weeks. I forced myself to go down the garage today and after a fashion painted the engine bay. It looked good, so i boshed a second coat on. the second coat all fizzed up nitromors-style and has completley fucked the job, including the primer coats. So now its worse than it was this morning, i've got to rub the lot off and start over with barcoat. Brilliant. The car looks like a total no-hoper at the moment, engine and box out, NS suspension off, covered in dust cos its not moved for months and months, fuggin depressing man.

I noticed when i took the engine out, that one of the M8 threads in the gearbox casing to hold the 'box mounts, had stripped. 'OH TURDS, I'll have to helicoil that before I bosh it all back together' I thought. Now i've inspected it and you have to strip the fuggin rear casing off the gearbox to get at it with a drill and helicoil insert, suddenly i'm looking at half-stripping the gearbox which will need various expensive gaskets ordering on 3-wk leadtimes and the like. OLD CAR BOLLOXS! Give me a hassle-free £400 mondeo off the bay any day. FUCK SHIT WANKER!

Just sack the mazer off til after Christmas b0llox. I think the winter reduces car mojo by about 80%. I'm getting shot of my tr7 as I can never see a point I could be arsed fixing it. I've also had my puma sitting stewing in the garage for 2 months after welding a new arch in as every time I put primer near it, it reacts. Cars r shit. Phact!

Hey B, can't the Maser just live with the stripped thread? Maybe pretend you didn't see it or something.

My grump is my bloody Puma which I need to strip and scrap. It owes me £200 odd, which I need to get back via selling parts and scrapping the rest. I tried to remove the CAT today, however it's one of those shitty Manicat things that are part of the exhaust manifold. Of course none of the bolts will come out and my big angle grinder is broken so I can't cut it out. I had a go at smashing the manifold with a big hammer and cold chisel but all ended up with was bloody knuckles. I recon a gas axe would do the trick. But I don't have one.

Outside, in the rain and cold, with completely the wrong tools, getting nowhere. I can't wait to see the grab come down on this Puma!

Rover 800 Expansion tanks :evil::evil:

BASTARD, bastard things. The bastard design fault these tanks have has reared its evil little head and decided to spew coolant over the power steering bottle over a crack it has on the curve. I dont wish to drive my car like this so have parked it up until I get time to fit the 5th expansion tank its had since I had it on the road (1 year and a half)

For the first time in my evil scrooge-like existance I have seriously contemplated actually shelling a large amount of money for a new expansion tank from Rimmer Bros, yeah, Rimmer Bros, the over-priced British car parts specialists.

Round here all the Pukes are driven by giffers, presumably because the salesman just told them it was the new Micra/Almera/Sunny.

I note that the latest Micra is a decontented built-in-Thailand anonymous box, so Nissan Europe have obviously given up on that nameplate. Also on the theme of 'death of once legendary Japanese model names' there is no longer a Honda Civic available on the home Japanese market  .

I'd be off to snoop round a scrap yard and find something roughly the same size/shape with outlets coming off in more or less the same direction, then spend about £7 on it and forget it rather than pump good money into a bloody header tank. If you want something new then there's a company on ebay that'll do a custom one in alloy for about £75, just send them one to copy

Tried to ride the "contraption" that is my push bike shite today. Managed all of about three yards before the front drive line decided that lateral forces are not its cup of tea and broke. Back to the shed it goes for rebuild no.65812.

Other grump news. Why does no one want to employ me? Look, I've applied for so many jobs now it makes me look pathetic. I'm not over reaching myself with the types of jobs, for gods sake, I've just been turned down by sodding Tescos. I'll work any hours, do anything (within reason) and take any crap just so I don't have to go back to the buses/coaches. Why don't I want to do that? well, let's just say after 26 odd years of doing it, it's just dawned upon me that it is the whole reason for my needing industrial strength SSRIs and anti depressants every day just so I can avoid blowing my brains out. (Hmm, a bit over dramatic but you get the point don't you).

But that's just the problem isn't it? Working in one industry since before leaving school; all I have is experience not qualifications. Nobody wants you if you don't have some form of piece of paper these days it seems...

I could go and get some. How do I live? The department of stealth and total obscurity have deemed that I am unable to claim any job seekers allowance as I was self employed for the past three years yet still want numerous hundreds of pounds off me at the end of Jan for taxes and N.I contributions that seem to actually contribute to nothing at all. The local council wont give me any council tax benefit but they will give me a whopping 15 quid a week housing benefit. Whoop de doo, but it's better than nothing I suppose.

I've managed to live so far on wifeys wages (a grand a month don't go far) and selling as many worldly goods as I can lay my hands on and hand outs from members of the family but I do feel as though I've hit the stops this time.

I'm sorry to unburden myself on you lot and I know a lot of you out there have a worse situation where you are but I just needed to blow off a little steam.

Back to the shed. Carry on.

Metrobi,

Ive just come out of a similar situation, (actually started a new job today) after being out of work for over a year, just couldnt get anything, must have sent 100s of cvs off,and i have qualifications and experience in my field (mechanical fitting/fabrication etc)

I got so fed up that i fired off 35 emails/cvs/applications in 2 days, literally trawling the net for anything. This resulted in getting an interview and a job offer,so my advice would be to literally scour every single website you can find.

And yes i had to do the same, sell off almost everything i had that was worth anything, classic bikes,my Reliant, all ive got now is a honda c70, (still shite and classic tho :) ) but hopefully can start to earn and save some money so i can get another shite car in the future.

Metrobi, I was in the same situation as some might know from my posts sometime last year. But I am in full time regular work.

Now I know you are not far from where I am, I sent you a PM with details of a job agency who found me work. They are not arsey as to where you worked before or whether you have any experience as some agencies have become. I hope it'll help you mate, you never know, you might even end up in the same place I work at.

Beware though, as January is coming, many places are going to be so busy, its going to be hell on earth, I know my workplace will be :|
