Bobthebeard
As a private hire taxi driver I occasionally get evening contract jobs taking school kids to sport events. Pick them up from school, take them to the venue, wait and take them back to the school. Did so last Friday. Dropped the kids off and just hung about waiting. Needed a pee so got out of the car and went in search of a loo at the venue. Found a door and could see that there was a toilet just beyond so went in and used the facilities. Just getting back into the car and a woman appeared asking if 'she could have a word' . "Excuse me, I don't want to appear rude but smoking and vaping is prohibited on school premises" I was doing neither, it was a cold evening and it was just my breath! Explained but got reported anyway. Ticked off for that plus for going to the toilet on my own as apparently I can't go into a (almost deserted) school alone. myglaren and mrbenn 1

barefoot
My 944 has just been dropped off by my local, friendly specialist. The MPG had gone to shit and it was consuming coolant... Apparently not OMGHGF, but corrosion on the bottom of the head. 'Anyway, while its all in bits, we might as well replace the belts, pulleys, tensioners, waterpump, drop in a quick bit of a service etc.' As you can imagine the car brought with it a bill. I've been on this forum for nine years, bought three cars from here and the bill was more than three times my total autoshite expenditure, it's a lovely car, but I can see why there's not many of the fuckers left. paulplom, Supernaut, HillmanImp and 3 others

A friend of mine bought a 1984 944 around the turn of the millennium in Galway. At the time the only Porsche dealership in the Irish Republic was Belgard in Dublin,so he waited until he visited the UK,then dropped it off at the dealership in Bournemouth, telling them to make sure everything was in good shape mechanically. When he went back the bill was £5000.So they are a car that can eat money. barefoot, HillmanImp and mrbenn

Do you not have to be CRB checked to school work, in which case being alone is of no consequence? What a jobsworth. Fire a complaint right back, the way education works these days they have to respond. xtriple

Are new bulbs suddenly really bad or is one headlight on now a thing? Parky
I have noticed that too, saw four or five today. Maybe it’s too hard to do many modern ones what with having to drop the gearbox to access the sidelights or whatever genius space saving idea has been utilised Or a South Essex trend we’ve missed? artdjones
Probably best to take them off and have them repaired or refurbished or copied by Speedy Cables. They are on the net. That might cost a bit but probably not more than genuine Lexus parts BorniteIdentity and Stevebrookman

Floatylight
Bloody fuming! As posted in the grin thread last week youngest (16) started work in the screwfix warehouse proper today, week of 2-10 shifts. This is after an interview last week where he had to take all his documents along including passport, ni no etc. He went back on Thursday to do a day's induction, which had been moved till the Friday but no one had told him, did the induction day on Friday, was issued his ppe and started today. During his shift he was sent home as they don't employ 16 yr olds! What a bunch of wankers!!! I just feel so broken for him, this really was a light at the end of the tunnel and a real look at a bright future, only to be fucked about by some completely incompetent cockwomble at an agency... davehedgehog31, paulplom, myglaren and 12 others 1

paulplom
Turns out the fucker who verbally abused my daughter wasn't Gary from upstairs. I'm very pleased I didn't beast him. Next door there is an old couple who has a druggy alchy daughter who lives a fair bit away. It was her son, their grandson who visits once a month or so. He's in his late teens and obviously has lots of issues. He's a full on wanker and apparently was screaming at a taxi driver for being 5 minutes late soon after. I will be having a word the next time I see him. I almost feel like apologising to Gary although he won't have a clue what I'm on about.
