The grumpy thread

At least they are giving me time to try and deal with shit. It's the sheer volume of stuff that I have, tools, genny, panels and so on.

I have sent the person an email saying that I would need an alternative garage in the interim. Not much else I can do. Private rented stuff if £250+ a month round here.

If it's a few months notice then I can at least get the engine and gearbox in the 2 door Toledo which would make it easier.

Really not a good time for this but that is indeed life.

‘what the fuck are you going to do about it?’ Well as it happens I am going to do something I have never done before and phone the company whose name and number is in big fuck off letters and numbers on the side of your Astra you thick cunt. A slightly more worried ‘do what the fuck you want, they won’t do anything’, well after speaking to HR at the company at length who asked for the contact details of the lady who was involved and my contact details to pass on their findings to. And to add to it, she has a dashcam which she is happy to send to them. If the dickhead had apologised to the woman I would have let it lie, now he is likely to get a bollocking at the least. Today’s twat of the day award goes to him.

I phoned the number on a van one day - he had double parked alongside me in Crediton High Street and was off looading kit into a pub when I got back to the car - "won't be a minute says he taking in tools and then back for a wheelbarrow" - somewhat long minute passed as I sat getting grumpier;  out he comes - I say "if you had moved it I could have got out and you could have parked in the place";  "you don't understand mate, I was busy".   I DID UNDERSTAND, HE WAS TAKING THE PISS

Not a wise move;  so I phones the number- firm is a big utilities contractor,  asked to speak to the transport manager - he was supposed to be at a job quite a distance away, he would be spoken too, misuse of a works van could lose him his job, tough thought I.  One up for the down trodden.

It's probably a strange thing posting this here, so apologies and bare with me please.

After 19 months of hell, the court case involving some horrible bastard pervert driving instructor and my daughter is finally over.  It's been a nightmare from the off, the last few months and especially this last week have just been indescribably horrific.  That she was made to give evidence in a  crown court, a beautiful vulnerable young lady against some horrible old pervert. That she was forced to listen to terrible lies. That she was being called a liar. That things that no young girl or her family should ever have to listen to were bought up. That he might even have wormed his way out of it, despite showing his true colours. Having to spend 4 days twenty foot away from someone I wanted to kill. That it could have gone the other way, had his 'defence' been believed. To spend 26 hour or so waiting for a verdict, not knowing if the truth would be believed. I think it's been one of the most emotional days our family have been through and I include close family funerals in that. I don't think the anger will ever go away.

TL:DR:  Justice was done, the truth prevailed as it always should.  I think it's time for a drink.

Well yesterday’s fuckwit could be up for the same. I have been emailed today to request details on the incident for the ‘disciplinary hearing’, I had given my number to the woman who he cut and she has been asked to forward the dash cam footage, so I think someone is going to get a Royal bollocking. But he was bloody lucky that’s all, he could so easily have caused a big smash and if had hit the passenger side of her car I dread to think what would have happened to the nipper in the car seat. Hopefully it will make him think twice at the very least.

Don't like that at all, Cav, but I'm pleased justice was done. I hope you and your family can put this horrible experience to bed and move on.

I tend not to talk about it in public bits of the forum but I work in law enforcement and we fucking love it when we get a result like this.

Because of your daughter's bravery he's been prevented from doing the same thing to another young woman. She should be very proud.

My grump of the day pales in comparison to Cav's and I'm pleased that justice has been served.

Received a letter from a debt management company asking for a lot of money because I was fined for non-payment of the Dartford Crossing toll back in April.  Unfortunately I hadn't received the original letter for various reasons but they had me bang to rights.  I've paid it through gritted teeth.

I got the letter ten minutes before I left home for a job interview.  At least that seemed to go well...

I had to go around to my rental property, because the flush on the bog broke.

Tenant is moving on in a month, so wife asks me to take some up dated pictures.

Wife says maybe she should  come.

I should have said yes.

It didn't take long to fix the bog with a new flush unit £12.

Took about 15 mins.

Took some photos. WhatsAppd them to her.

Initially her suggestions were fine, but i couldn't get a picture of any bedroom that she liked.

I think that I'd need to knock a wall down, because, further back, higher lower, more window, more floor, it makes the room look too small.  And apparently I'm taking the same picture again and again.

She eventually lost it on the phone. I don't think it's possible to take the pictures she wants with a smart phone, and what I've got won't stop anyone wanting to view.  But I got home and she's gone off "for a walk" so she doesn't kill me.

1.5 hours I was taking photos and sending them to her.  Luckily the tenant had gone out.

I'm not sure there's logic in life.

The abscess in my cheek is back with a vengeance. Face the actual size of the two faces I'm told I have. At least after attention yesterday it does seem to be draining/doing something but I look like a medical experiment so I am staying indoors. I'll take Chester out for a walk when it gets dark and then I'll wear a mask!

ALL of my cars have synchronised their mood swings

414 - Stripped thread in the gearbox steady, bolt has worked loose and it jams in reverse because the engine has dropped and the selector fouls the chassis rail

Micra - CV's and calipers fixed only to find the two tyres not holding air have perished sidewalls on the insides, I was going to MOT it this morning

Streetwise - some wierd electrical drain has flattened the battery

Z3 - folding roof has given up, probably the switch in the middle of the roof

Galaxy - Gearbox has turned up but I didnt want to start that until at least one of the first three was working

I also have a dead Focus on the drive interfering with the game of musical cars, this isnt even mine !

Spanners down and beer opened

Prescribed flucloxacillin for an infected toe.

Jesus Christ, never again.

Shit to death, the most painful reflux ever - you can feel the tablet going down. Appetite gone.

I'll stick my cock in a blender before I have these again.

Might be more effective to stick your toe in the blender.

Anything plugged into the lighter socket ?  Permanent live. Ask me how I found out (dashcam). Or boot not shut properly (lock sticks) and light on all the time (done that one too)

Not really a grump but more like ambivalence here.

I have taken all of my cars to my trusted local garage for ten years now. My parents have also done the same.

The owner is a respectable gent, has all kinds of mechanical engineering degrees and takes a real interest in older cars. He drives a lovely MGB V8 Roadster, and the firm has a traditional smiley Transit recovery vehicle. I trust and value his opinon and judgement.  I also hold the foreman in equal regard together with the mechanics.

They have never ripped me off and I know their good reputation means they don't need  the work.

They have made the odd small error over that time but we are all human and it has never been anything significant.

However, over the past few months their attention to detail has slipped somewhat:

- Clio went in for a new radiator, new one was faulty and lashing out coolant. They didn't notice this and I had to come back and get a new one fitted. No charge though so can't really complain.

-Mini went in for new disks and pads, pads don't sit square against the disk when braking. Asked them to sort it when it was in for something else, they forgot.

- They fitted tyres, ine was incorrectly seated and deflated overnight. Had to get that sorted by a local tyre place, another £18.

-Mini again, they didn't refit the sump plug washer so oil leaked badly. They held their hands up and apologised though, fixed for no charge.

- Parent's Corsa was in for a service last week and now the bonnet doesn't sit properly anymore. It was fine before.

I feel a bit bad for even typing this as they are very good and if they make a mistake they do sort it, but there's only so many times this sort of thing can happen before you begin to feel a bit annoyed.

Should I give them another chance with the Clio's bottom arms and track rods or go to the nearby specialist I have been considering (all the folks on the Clio pages really rate them)?

I've had this with a number of garages I've used for a long time, the seem to become complacent, worth speaking to them about it and letting them know .

And indeed our Internet connection is slowing down veeeery slowly. Confirmed this by switching to the ISP provided router and it's painfully slow. Not 56K modem slow, but it'll get there if the engineers in the office don't give us a boost soon!
