He'd probably spin a sob story and get you grandad to help pay for it.

I'm with the telling him to jog on route. If you haven't already had the 'conversation' it might be a good sign to look at power of attorney / his finances. My other half's grandad was being taken for a ride by any old salesman, everything now goes through her aunt, imo as harsh as it may seem its a small freedom to infringe to enable them to live independently for far longer if it's one less thing to cause stress / problems.

Our next door neighbour had a new conservatory, new windows, solar panels, a roller shutter door for the garage, new drive and a few other bits all between 80 and her popping her clogs, none of them needed. Not sure if she was gullible or just liked workmen around to talk to as the family never visited.

Our lass rang me last night "Dave, my car sounds a bit funny, grinding when I brake"

I asked her if it drove OK and she said yes, so I said it'll be alright while you get home - I put new disks and pads on a few months ago.

Ran it round the block this morning and jesus fucking christ - The brakes don't work, and pulls to the right so hard it takes both hands on the steering wheel to make it drive straight.

Many years ago a twat left a car in my yard 'just for the night' and after an eternity I needed to drag it onto the Queens highway, on my tod in the pissing rain and challenged by steering lock and flat tyres I had to cut the seatbelts for towropes and pull the back seat for a buffer. I was the bad guy and it seemed that I might never hear the end of it. If there's ever a next time, I'll cut the offending vehicle in half to make it easier to handle.

I used to work with a tree surgeon doing domestic tree work, a number of lonely old people had us doing jobs that didn't really need to be done and I think that loneliness was the reason, it's very sad.

Very much so, however in the case of my neighbour she was so foul that she had upset everyone in the street to the point that she featured on neighbours from hell for her feud with a lady up the street.

Some people just like having work done, my aunt is like that.

Turns out the front pads on the drivers side down to the fucking metal! Passenger side is not far behind. Calipers weren't binding or owt, sliders lovely and free.

These pads have done maybe 7000 miles and doesn't believe me when I say her driving is erratic!

Managed to get a set of pads locally so she can get to work tomorrow to some mega important meeting thing.

She's now decided she needs a new car though because this one is "worn out" at ten years old.

What? Pads in 7k has she been minicabbing or doing track days? I've never known a set wear out that quickly!

I have got a customer with a Landcruiser which gets through pads at an alaming rate (around 10k for the rears!) I have no idea why as it has had everything replaced including the mastercylinder / ABS unit for a different reason. It has been like it for the last 100k miles at least. His wifes Honda CRV is nearly as bad so I kind of put it down to where they live which is in the Quantock hills with lots of driving on rough dirty roads. I expect the mud is getting on the pads and making it more abrasive, or they are both mini cabbing of an evening.

This bloody car is really trying my patience! Bought 7 years ago, covered less than 1000 miles. Been to engine specialist 3 times, ended up with custom pistons and all seemed good. Did 500 miles with no problems. Took it to Prescott, 7 runs up the hill then developed a fuel leak. Yesterday I stripped the fuel system and found no fault but it seemed to cure the problem. Went outside this morning, started first turn, no fuel leak, so decided to take it to a local car club coffee meet. Six miles from home, turn right onto the dual carriageway, car going great so give it some beans. Change into top, bloody great backfire and engine cuts out! Coast to a halt, in a convenient gateway and investigate. The retaining bolt that holds the distributor clamp to the engine has decided to make its own way in the world so the distributor is freely turning. Phone call to a mate and the journey home was at the end of a tow rope! Need to find a correct bolt and buy a new bottle of threadlocker.

And now it is pissing down!

Mount an aroogah horn in the glovebox and wire it to the brake light switch. Use a relay. And a fuse.

It did us a favour in the end as she spent so much and had equity release as well so they ended up having to sell the house, they had planned to rent it out. The guy who bought it is brilliant, could not get a better neighbour.

Ah, sounds like she had her revenge.

Ah, sounds like she had her revenge.

To be fair the family were far more pleasant than she was, but it was a weird family to say the least. I could on for ages on all the weird stuff that happened but my favourite was when one of the family turned up in the middle of the night and dumped a caravan in front of her car on the drive blocking her in and putting wheel clamps on so it couldn’t be moved. That took a few weeks for her to resolve, no idea why they did it.

Have had two e-mails now demanding $7000 and another for $3000 to stop someone sending out a video of me pleasuring myself while watching some porn filth to my contacts on Bookface and Messenger e.t.c...

I know it's a scam because I don't have a bookface or messenger account.

It is also up to me to decide how much I enjoy a decent adult art video....

The more paranoid amongst us have tape over the lens of the webcam anyway. Last time I got one of those emails it was 300 euro they wanted you must have seemed like a wealthy email address!

Same. I've never owned a car long enough to change the pads twice, but I think I've done four sets on hers!

They were just cheapo sunday morning motor factors jobs, same as this time round which won't help matters, but she's just really shit at driving.

Further to my previous grumps about BT and our non-op WiFi, suffice to say it still isn't working, with the router now refusing the password and showing all kinds of error lights.

Several long phone calls: Achieved Nothing

Logging a complaint: Also Nothing

0/10 on their Feedback form; Also Nothing

The phone line is back on, so I guess you could say they fixed that, but still no broadband. They sorta think the router is faulty, maybe. The only way they could provide a replacement is by us signing a whole new contract. Even though they completely failed to fix the service, they tried to sell me a new service. And the only thing the complaint has done is them pestering me to agree to close the complaint. They literally couldn't have cared less.

They also offered, as part of the new package, their premium service which is priority fault fixing (lol!) and UK only call centers, which suggest to me they obviously believe the centers in India or whatever are inadequate but they only care if you're willing to pay an 40% a month.

This all leaves me with a much bigger mobile bill, due to all the 4G I've had to use, and in the soul destroying world of shopping for broadband. Also, the only reason I've been able to tell BT to FRO is because we're out of contract, despite never missing a bill or anything. Literally no idea what that is about.

Well over a week since the broadband went down and I have literally gotten nowhere. I phoned to make sure they didn't hit us with a hideous cancellation charge and was transferred to the "Value Team" (shit you not) only to be told we are still on contract and that will be £130 please. I questioned this as it contradicted what I've been told, but the dude didn't know either way so it has been referred to the "off line team" and I'm awaiting a call back. Well, awaiting it to be missed anyway.

I think even the best case scenario will be them demanding 30 days notice. I don't see how they can demand notice when they've utterly failed to fix the faults, leaving us disconnected without notice. I think I'll reopen the complaint, just to be a pain in the arse if nothing else.
