michael t
During my slightly younger years, around the time I first discovered this site and began lurking on it,I regularly trawled Ebay and saved the pictures off adverts and stored them on memory cards. I did this mainly to have a nice little collection of pictures for PC wallpapers etc but it quickly grew into a collection a few hundred big! It's of mainly BL orientation with some Alfa shite in there as well. Wish I'd kept on eye out for Japanese, German and French stuff but I was borderline obsessed with British Leyland's 70's/80's mismanaged poorly built output. Some pictures are of poor quality but hopefully you'll enjoy them! Metro's first More to come later.... Andy F
Class, I too enjoy BLs offerings. Mum had loads of metros of all varieties. Thats brought back some great memories, thanks! michael t
HMC
There a real authenticity about these sort of pics, expecially when theres stuff to see in the background that tells much more of a story about people and place than cars in line at a show. Especially sale pics; Decaying dreams of the past, abandoned hopes, and plans for the future. Its all there if you look. Thanks for sharing! If youve got any E bay metro vp500 pics from october 2008 my first Metro is likely to be it. michael t and AMC Rebel
bramz7
It was around 2008 I found this forum and started looking at eBay for stuff. Always tried to convince my mum to buy me an early Metro or Astra MK1 when it was all still worth nothing. michael t
Crispian_J_Hotson
That white metro with the dehydrated wee coloured interior... Bought one the same, auto, down the pub for a score. It made it 3 miles towards home before the auto box melted. I gave* that one to the police. michael t

michael t
^ Did a quick DVLA check on some of the cars above last night and very few are still MOT'D or SORN'D. Obviously the inevitable tin worm got to a good chunk of them but it's also a shame to think how many were engine bummed by Mini owners lesapandre and Squire_Dawson

mercrocker
Why has the world got so shit in such a short space of time? A Y reg Metro Vanden Plas would have suited me for a retirement car but they are probably rarer than a Plah ADO16 now. Split_Pin
Crikey that sherbet yellow Morris Princess is GLORIOUS. I have a collection of ebay motors pictures from around 2007/8 but its all Mk1 Mondeos, MK5/6/7 Escorts and such like, nothing as grand as these! It's really interesting to see what was available cheaply about the same time I joined up here. How things have changed! michael t and mk2_craig

Yep! my only slight regret is that I didn't screenshot the whole adverts including the prices. I wouldn't mind seeing those Mondeo and Escort piccies!! BeEP
Great thread; I thought I might find a couple I've owned! Citron yellow Morris 1800 wedge - bought from ebay September 2011 (it had also been sold maybe a year earlier). Now owned by one of the mechanics at the garage in the village; he's used it as his everyday car for two years (looking much like above) but has now taken it off the road pending restoration. Here it is in my barn a few years back: Harvest gold Allegro estate - bought from ebay in 2008 by a friend specifically to show on the club stand at the NEC show. I bought it from him in March 2009, used it until the MOT ran out then parked it up until 2015, It then had a fair bit of restoration (by the same person who now owns the Morris wedge) and has been used a fair bit since. I've put a few photos of it on here in the past, but here it is again (it's also in my avatar)
keef
Wish I'd done this for some of the BL chod I've seen. Here's one I bought a couple of years back. :- michael t
