Isaac Hunt
Not much electrical works. It needs to be completely rewired because someone has "converted" it to 12V. Thankfully it was originally negative ground so that's a good start. Gauges and such can be driven from a 6V bucking converter. --PhilCar is ace I hope that converter works or it might make for an interesting conversation down at the motor factors "have you got a bucking converter"............"I beg your pardon"..........."have you got a bucking converter"..........."and what does sir what the f***ing converter for" LightBulbFun and PhilA

PhilA
Trailer booked for 11am tomorrow morning. That's, uh.. 5pm tomorrow UK. Google reckons this route. On the way up I'll be on the Interstate but the way back is going to be highways only, methinks. I-55 is 22 miles of raised concrete bridge which is not even in the slightest, it likes to induce a pitching motion at 55 which I really do not fancy dealing with. Gonna be fun... vulgalour
Remember if the trailer gets wayward you need to speed up. Or slow down. One or the other, you'll figure it out. Jerzy Woking, HairySteve, DeeJay and 1 other
PhilA
The Chieftain is kinda nose-heavy, but we were discussing uneven roadway and trailers whipping- at which point I asked if the wife would be happy towing mother in law's Fiat 500X, and she said yes. I said that's fine, the Chieftain is only 100lbs heavier than the Fiat.Obviously the weight distribution is different. The Fiat is shorter nose to tail than the wheelbase of the Pontiac... Old cars, etc etc. Phil

PhilA
How cheap is your petrol?!?! Chodspeed, my good fellow.$2.509 /gal So.. $0.68 /litre That's for the standard dishwater. 87 octane with 10% ethanol. The ethanol is used to boost the fuel up to 87. Thanks. MorrisItalSLX
Crikey! Thats 95c/L in Aussie Dollars! I would have to pay $1.45/L minimum for the lowest grade of petrol available (E10) here. I hope the wipers work well!

Zelandeth
As of when I filled the Activa up last time... $6.89/Gallon (yes, US not imperial). Admittedly that's for the good stuff, but there's not a massive difference.
drum
Sorry if I missed it, but what's the tow vehicle?
PhilA
First things first. Coffee on, let's go do a last minute check on the tow vehicle. Today's weapon of choice: 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT (5.3). It's been sat up overnight so the level will be accurate. That'll work. Oh well. I guess it's right. Welp, finalize prep in readiness to leave. Shall be on the way shortly! Phil Tickman, Squire_Dawson, LabRat and 7 others
