just figured id mention that this time period (Late June-Early July), marks 50 years since the Model 70 entered production :) 

 

sadly im not sure exactly when production started, but looks to have been Mid to Late June 1971,

with GPD790J being the earliest Production Model 70 to still show up on the DVLA still being registered on the 2nd of July 1971

with the block being GPD781J-GPD830J, and GPD781J being the very first production Model 70 :)

(I do wonder if any of the very earliest cars managed to get registered in June 1971 at all or not)

aside from the DHSS stuff above I was also doubly interested

because despite TWC being one of the last Model 70's in DHSS Service, with her tax being due on the 16/06/2003, until you taxed her again

her last keeper change was as you can see on the 9th of the 12th 1997 which is very interesting

because one thing I have noticed with almost every IVS Invalid vehicle that survived until the very end of the IVS scheme in 2003-2004

all had keeper changes in Late 2002,  as you can see here on @Mrs6C's Model 70, and I had wondered if this was the DHSS moving the keepership out of the long term users name and to their name in preparation for withdrawal

(long term users had their machines registered to their name, but they where still obviously owned by the IVS at the time!)

but TWC does not have this 2002 keeper change and with your previous DHSS comment I have to wonder, if it never happened because she was already registered to the DHSS since 1997 for some reason?

and the full address would be interesting to see, because I dont know if the cars registered to local Appliance centre would say DHSS on them or not or if it only said DHSS if it was literally  registered directly the DHSS at Warbreck hill

but sadly I have never seen who this previous 2002 keeper was, sadly most surviving late service machines have been through a few keepers since then by now so even if their last V5c is from before GDPR its no good since it would just list the last private keeper

and sadly with the example shown above although Mrs6c is her only post ministry service keeper GDPR means theres no previous keeper info on V5's anymore sadly

 

its interesting to note this "special" keeper change date is the same across a lot of these special Late service vehicles too

which makes me think it was a batch job/they where all registered to the same keeper, rather then individual ALACs (artificial limb and appliance centres)

(KPH305K is special as its not a Model 70 but a Model 64! the only one known to make to it to the end of the IVS scheme)

dragging this back up because @dollywobbler I noticed you mentioned on Zels thread way back when that when you sent off TWC's logbook to change it from the disabled taxation class to the historic vehicle taxation class and change some of her other details, that the DVLA then sent you back 2 V5's

I think iv seen this one before number plate rings a bell, but I cant confirm

sadly reg turns up nothing on the DVLA checker but it would be very interesting to try and V62 this one! (Just how far back to those dusty old pre DVLC records go? :)

as a side small note,

today marks 2 years since I bought and got REV :) 

cant belive that this

was 2 years ago now!

cant say the whole "getting on the road" part has gone entirely to plan, between me failing to recommission her and me failing to get myself a licence,

but things are finally sorting themselves out now on both fronts :) 

with REV at adams who has clearly demonstrated that he knows how to sort out a Model 70, and myself with my (not so now!) new driving instructor and actually feeling like im getting somewhere with the driving lessons now, and a hopefully 3rd time lucky test booked for the 21st of September :)

I cant help but notice that the little corner peace you repaired also has similar markings on it to the ones you found on the various metal bits and bobs

looks like 12A N16? never seen any fibreglass piece marked like this before so that was quite interesting to see!

with regards to the chassis, I wonder if it might be worth making up a negative jig to keep everything in alignment

ie before you cut off and salvage the brackets from the rotten chassis

 

what I would do is make a frame from some simple box section or such that bolts up to  those brackets still on the chassis and to as many other pickup points on the chassis as you can attach the frame to, so when you lop them all off the rotten chassis, the external frame holds them in the exact position they where on the original chassis prior to being cut off

so then you can offer up your new chassis to them and it means they are in the correct position already and just need to be welded on if this makes sense!

and then you can unbolt your new chassis from the negative jig and fit it to the car :)  (or leave it on there while you do any other work to it?)

I think what you spotted twas an early Reliant Regal rather than any sort of invalid vehicle (unless im missing something?)

which was nice as it had been a while since I last spoke with him :) 

he said he got the V5 for WPD607G recently (which goes with what I saw on the DVLA recently)

he says that car is done now :) I should ask him for some pictures! (and remind him he needs to SORN the vehicle before the DVLA reclaim his knee caps)

im also pleased to confirm that it does have a rollover bar, goes a little bit further to identifying just which one this is!

I really do wonder what the story is behind one this one, between hodge podge of bodywork and a chassis with no stamped number, it has me properly scratching my head!

but strangely he says the normal chassis number location on the chassis is blank!, (I was able to send him some pictures of the location thankfully) so thats quite odd, but hopefully he will get me some pictures in the next couple days and Ill see with my own eyes whats going on there

 

but am pleased to know which 2nd Model 70 he got and its good to know where "WPD607G" has ended up, I am a Little bit surprised it was sold as I knew the elmsleigh invacar people did not want to sell it (I believe @bobdisk did enquire about this Model 70 just earlier this year)

but it sounds like its gone to a good home and hopefully ill be able to ID which Model 70 it really is :)

although I have not been able to find an early Invacar Model 70 yet that I can use for to figure out what the early Invacar Model 70's did and did not have sadly

I dont know for example when the pinched mould lines where introduced on Invacar Model 70's perhaps they where always like that from the word go? or maybe they only became a thing after the Factory fire? I just dont know exact sadly

I know the DHSS parts list alludes to the Rod style Bonnet stay being a later change (including mentioning it being changed on AC Model 70's but every single AC Model 70 I have seen from the earliest to the latest has had a hoop style stay with no previsions for a rod stay, so go figure that one out!)

which would imply the Early Invacar Model 70's also had hoop style rear engine cover stays and so simply "WPD607G" has the rear end from an earlier Invacar Model 70, but more info/research is needed to say for sure

 

 

for comparisons heres a picture of REV's engine bay where you can see the rod style stay and the little dimple moulded into the body work for it to sit in

(since this quoted post from last year was posted, I was at least able to mostly verify that All Invacar Model 70's had pinch mould lines, so I know the rear bodywork on WPD is Invacar, but is older then the chassis its on)

I love that video. A while ago I spent quite a long time tracing out the alignment of the RAE Railway, when you line up new and old maps it's surprising just how many signs of it are still left.

That was my original plan, I think we spoke about it during a phone call? However speaking with a few friends it was decided unnecessary and time consuming. In stead we are taking all the necessary measurements, tacking, bracing, measuring again and then welding. Work started today on this alongside two separate projects, a few friends back together drinking lots of Tea and making a bit of progress on jobs.  Hopefully a bit more progress will be made tomorrow between Tea and jibing.

the V62 was only sent off on the 20th of April! its almost suspiciously quick LOL

I know this Model 70 does not have a scrap marker and I know those generally go the quickest but 9 days is impressive (GTW614N did not have a scrapped marker and even then its V5 took a couple weeks to arrive, which again we thought was pretty quick back then)

 

I still wish I could find a picture of the form that the DVLA send keepers when someones V62ing for their car

I have to wonder if theres a "yeah this is fine, go ahead" tick box on the form that you can send back to speed up the process? and maybes thats whats happened here?

(or maybe that form just bounced right back to the DVLA because the address no longer exists etc?)

 

will be interesting to see how the others go, NOO738M especially as that one also has no scrapped marker

NOO738M's V62 process was of a more typical time span/experience , this one did get the usual "thank you for your V62 it will be processed on such and such date" letter that you normally get when V62ing a vehicle

(but which I dont think UPB262M ever got)

who's "such and such date" was today (well yesterday now!) so I have been stalking its DVLA record extra vigilantly today to see if/when it would update

looks like the DVLA checker updates around midnight or so! :) (which I think was the same with Adams cars IIRC)

for those curious NOO738M's V62 was sent in the same envelope as UPB262M's was and so was OVW445P and TPE222S, V62's as well, those later 2 do have scrapped markers so will probably take longer to process if current experience is anything to go by

 

I do still wonder about UPB262M's blisteringly fast turn around time!,

I have to wonder if perhaps at some point in time someone had just simply sent its previous V5 back to the DVLA, so it became keeper-less but with no scrapped markers or such so when @st185cs applied for its V5 they where able to turn around in double quick time since they did not have to check with the previous keeper "oi someones trying to apply for your vehicles V5!" nor did they have to worry about any scrapped markers or the such like

nothing for OVW445P yet, hopefully that one gets processed soon, these last 2 have/are taking their sweet time!

Yay OVW445P has had a fresh V5 issued at long last :) only took 4 months!

this marks the last of the 4 cars I helped out with a few months ago :) 

it has been very interesting to track their progression and the DVLA's response

since they where all V62'ed at the same time, all applications where in the same envelope and paid for with the one £25 cheque

with 2 of the the Model 70's had no scrapped markers UPB262M and NOO738M, while 2 of them did, OVW445P and TPE222S

 

first to process was UPB262M which was turned around stupidly quickly, with no interim letter to say "thank you for your V62 we will process it in *date 14 days from date of letter*"

I suspect on this one that someone in the past sent its V5 back to the DVLA to say they where no longer the keeper, but did not tick any boxes otherwise, so it became keeper-less but with no scrapped marker or such like

so im thinking the DVLA where able to just do a quick keeper change without the need to notify any previous keepers

2nd to process was NOO738M with no scrapped marker, this one went as would expect a V62 to go for a regular car with no markers against it, a couple weeks then the usual interim letter where they give the previous keeper 14 days to respond, and then a V5 issued after that

3rd was TPE222S with its scrapped marker, took as expected longer, taking the full 6 weeks to process, but curiously did not get/generate an interim letter, the V5 was just issued and showed up few days later!

and finally OVW445P with its scrapped marker, took the longest 4 months (I have to wonder if this one got caught up in the DVLA strikes) but this one did generate the standard interim letter curiously enough

all in all im very pleased to have been able to help reunite 4 More surviving Model 70's with their respective V5's and its been a very interesting study of how the DVLA works (or doesn't work LOL) as well :)

ah cool! had not seen that particular for sale listing, thanks for the heads up :)  its been a while I have seen that one it first popped up for sale by the same people who are selling the 2 Harding Electrics that are on ebay currently

I do wonder why its been given an age related plate when in the photos it seems to be wearing something else if not the orignial? (maybe its been plate raped and stuck on retention as the original? plate does not show up on the DVLA)

your link is sadly broken but if it really is only £1500 then the guy is making one hell of a loss on it, IIRC it was flogged for about £5K last time! (if it really sold for that mind, that was just what it was listed for)

it was originally JJK671, but has been re-registered under the age related plate 869XVE (and incorrectly registered as a Tricycle, it should be registered as an invalid vehicle) as I guess they did not have enough evidence to V765 for the original plate (which since my post in 2019 I can tell is not on retention or such)

so I do wonder how they where even able to register it in the first place as you still need a proof of age for that and there are not many people who can provide that for invalid carriages

just realised I had this neat photo of both @AdgeCutler's Brian (KPU147J) and @adam1db's  (ex @Zelandeth, @OliD-E) KPL (KPL139P) on a trailer together being rescued from Oddingly where they had sat previously for many years, since 1991 in for KPL and since 1979 for KPU!

its fitting how they where rescued together who would of thought a few years later they would have both ended up on the same forum together and be under going extensive restorations at the same time :) 

it would be nice/fun to reunite the pair someday once their restorations are complete :) (although you may have a hard time convincing people they where the same cars!)
