I happened across this site the other day and I've been addicted. Great community and a lot of humourous posts.

I've always been interested in cars and I'm drawn to older cars. New cars leave me a bit cold to be honest not that I get the chance to drive anything that new anyway. I've had a few older cars including a BMW 325i touring e30, a surprisingly good Citroen ZX 1.4 I bought off eBay for £62 with MOT, a Citroen ZX 1.9td Volcane that was excellent, a couple of old A4's, a Citroen BX, Fiat 131 etc. I've got an Alfa 156 2.4 jtd now which fleeced me for £1400 for a dmf, clutch, suspension and aux belt last month. It's due a timing belt soon but it's not getting one until it behaves itself. I also have 2 mr2 mk1's. I've had one on the road for 10 years and was considering selling it as not practical but instead I bought my mates off him as a project too! No space, money or time to spend on them but there you go. I'm currently considering a Volvo v70 and also have a hankering for an Audi 80 but not sure why? I'm looking forward to chatting with likeminded car nuts who are looking for automotive heaven, on a budget.

Forgot to say I've had 3 tatty 2cv's that were great fun and which would be worth quite a bit now if I'd not sold them for £100 each. Also bought a pastel blue Skoda Estelle 105 for £60 about 20 years ago which was also great, very solid and characterful if a little slow. I wish I'd kept that too!

Oops, I seem to have missed this thread... I am a newcomer now but I was on here many years ago when I ran a Renault Master camper van. Had five years of ace holidays in Cornwall & Devon, sold it and passed my bike test and got into two-wheeled shite instead. Bought a C15 for lugging 'projects' (or 'hopeless cases' - depends on your perspective :-)), and sold that about a year ago because 1) it needed a lot of welding and 2) I was buying too much shite.

Time passes, and circumstances dictate that I need a little car to use when the weather puts me off riding & me being me I see this as an opportunity to buy something with, erm, 'character'... I'm no stranger to French tin (my first car was an 845cc R5L & had two other fives, two fours, a 4F6 van etc.), so a 1994 Peugeot 205 Mardi Gras auto could be nothing other than a logical step. Even getting lost on my test drive couldn't put me off :mrgreen:

I've spent the weekend rectifying issues caused by years of Old Giffer (non-) maintenance, and I'm looking forward to a summer of cruising around with the sunroof up and tunes on the newly-installed Aldi stereo 8)

Hi guys. Found this site after searching for images of Reliant Rebel van. What a surprise when one of the three images was that of my own grot box so I clicked on the link and found myself here and thought " What the F.. Hell" now looking forward to trawling through some shite, might even help with my sleeping disorder!

Hi - I naturally missed this BLINDING OBVIOUS PINNED THREAD and posted some waffle with pictures, but I'll say Hello here as it's proper. I used to hang around ukrcm and still pop up on RR sometimes, have owned a little over 150 cars but then again, I'm also 40 and this number doesn't sound like a lot anymore. My weaknesses are Mercedes and Citroën, my allergies are French Cars and Rust. Go figure.

Howdy, I have already sort of 'introduced' myself without seeing this!

I have been an avid reader for a while and sometimes frequent other forums such as RR, Volvo owners, V3M, Metro Owners and some of the Rover forums to name a few...

I have owned a few retro cars; currently have a Hyundai Accident which I am looking to move on so I can get something more retro once again  8)

See you all around!

Matt

I got to this forum after reading some of Keith Adams' pieces from AR Online archives and really like the place, the support and sense of humour that contributing members offer each other really appeals to me. I thought it would be polite to introduce myself here before sticking my size 9's into any other threads.

My first car was a VW Golf, 1100cc 1976 in red. It was a family hack that got passed around until my little brother ploughed it into the back of a builders Transit that was at the back of a queue of cars, the owner was furious as he was just driving back from ATS with four fresh tyres. He drove around in a Reliant Robin for 8 months in order to learn to slow down, not his choice of car though.

Over the years I have had Metro's, Maestro's, Renault 5, Peugeot's, BMW and Citroen until I got company cars, which were Citroens initially. My current fleet includes a mixture of runners, projects and running resto's. To keep this short I will introduce my Peugeot that I have had since 2002. It is a 205 GTi that I bought for £380 after seeing it advertised in the local paper for a few weeks, a bargain I thought but does it count as shite?

Using the brakes meant the car took a dive to the left which was sorted with new lower arm bushes and I have looked after it over the years. I needed it initially to run around at weekends  but I couldn't part with it after the immediate need had gone. I'm able to enjoy it when possible and I see that prices are on the rise for these now. I will introduce more of my fleet at a later date, for now here's the Pug;

I have always been in around the industry and specialise in Customer Support on modern diesel engines. I will always help out where I can and offer words of encouragement where possible. Day to day I get to work with this sort of thing;

Guest Jelibeli

Hi,

I've been on the Facebook group for quite a while, so I thought I should pop along to the mothership to see what it's all about.  I've owned some good shite in the past - 1994 Metro & 1979 Cavalier - but I'm a big fan of most shite, mainly BL but I do like to drool over all kinds of 70s/80s rot boxes.

Can't remember how I found this forum, but I noted liberal use of the words shite, pikey and other naughty words - I think I'll like it here.

There's probably an easy way to post a picture of my motah, but I am too dimwitted at present to figure it out... I hope I don't need to open a photo sharing account coz that's just too hard...... :sad-smiley-005:

Pleeze can I look at the pictures I am not allowed to look at now?

Posting pics on here is easy,  first make sure you're on the full rather than mobile site.

Then click 'more reply options' underneath where you are typing.

Click on 'choose files' and select a pic off your PC/phone,

When it uploads,  click 'add to post'

It will appear on your post as a string of letters like this

[attachmnt=33831:DSCN5275.jpg]

so click 'preview post' to check it has worked ( I removed a letter from mine so that it wouldn't)

Show us your shite  ;)

Ooo eer, well I hardly know you... but how can I refuse when you put it like that?  Oh yeah, and ta for telling me how to post pictures - it's so much easier than having to figure it for myself.

Closer still then. I'm in Temecula.

Well you had better live in one of the sprawling new subdivisions and not some fucking tasty bit of vineyard heaven or I am gonna have to hunt you down.  I was out there about a month ago cos work was pissing me off and I couldn't think of anything better than to go and drink champagne (sorry, sparkling California wine) instead of working for the day.
