Thanks! And yes, yes it is absolute Autoshite and that's why I love it so much 😁

Trouble is I live in the Surrey Hills area and there isn't much of back-street anything out here unless you want farms or woodland. We are pretty out of luck when it comes to car maintenance for the unusual, my American imports have suffered through the same issues. The towns tend to be wildly over-priced because, well, it's Surrey 🙄 . I'm close to West Sussex so I could probably start looking around there, most things seem to be more affordable "across the border". As for a mobile welder to be honest it's a bit more than a touch up needed, the frame has quite a lot of work to be done - and if it was just a Fiesta or Astra I would let it go already but considering what it is I would really love to try keep it going! That said I am happy to travel to get the work done (within reason, I have to be aware there is a cost>car value ratio!).

Also, I notice your signature mentions a Yugo 45A, is there anywhere I would be able to see some details on that car?! Haven't seen a Yugo since I took a road trip down to Croatia in 2014!

What about trying any agricultural welders? You might find one who has an interest in old chod.

Welcome! You might pop up an enquiry in the 'Ask a Shiter' section of this forum. It may be that someone on here knows a decent welder in your local area or could even do the work for you at an agreeable rate. Alternatively, buy yourself a MIG welder and have a go yourself. Others on here have done just that, with good results.

Thanks! Okay I will put up a post and see, I wasn't sure if it was appropriate to start go around asking specifically for help so early into joining here - hence my slightly less direct way of dropping it into the topic about the car and my hello post!

That's an interesting idea, I will have a look around, thanks

You might start by setting up your own thread about your cars on this main forum, to introduce them and yourself in more detail. Post up some photos etc. and I'm sure you'll find a keen following.

That is properly ugly and deserves to be hidden in the woods saved . 😬

How high in the hills are you, I'm down in the dumps lowlands of Horsham

Oh I know 🥴 it's not a looker considering it was originally designed under the Soviet Union and the prototypes of the 110 saloon allegedly had the help of Porsche (not entirely sure what their involvement was other than probably drinking copious amounts of Vodka) as an attempt to look more like the cars coming out of the West, but thanks to the fall of communism and funding issues it wasn't until 1997 the 110 came to life and the 112 hatchback 2 years later. So yeah, a car that came to life 1 year before the millennium based on Soviet era designs is not destined to be the most visually appealing car out there 😄  It's definitely better to drive than look at 😆

I'm foraging in the hills just above Cranleigh !

Thank you, I have taken your advice and I hope to become a worthwhile member of the community here 🙂

Been lurking on the forum for a while now, particularly enjoying the Shite in miniature thread as I am similarly afflicted with the desire to keep buying toy cars I really don't need, but still buying the ones I fancy, despite having no space to display them and the money would be better spent on essentials like petrol to get to work!

Anyway, my current car doesn't really fall into the autoshite category as it's only 6 years old. (It's a Suzuki Baleno and it's one on the best cars I've ever owned, if anyone's interested.) But I've owned plenty of chod over the years. Mark 2 Escort was my first car, others I've had since include Capris, Sierras, a Land Rover, a Citroen BX, Renault 11 and a couple of ex-London FX4 Fairway black taxis. I made a video for my YouTube channel a while back of all the cars I've owned since I passed my test back in 1988. I will post a link to it if anyone's interested and if posting YouTube links in this thread is allowed.

My last dodgy car I bought was an MG ZT-T 1.8 with the head gasket issue, hence I only had it a couple of months!

My user name is because as well as real cars, (and toy cars), I also have a strange interest and fascination with dodgem or bumper cars. I've always been interested in all things fairground, but dodgem cars in particular. I've got a few models of them but also I recently bought a dodgem car shell with the seat moulding off ebay to restore. It's from the late 60s, made by a company called Reverchon in France. It's been stored outside most of its life so the chrome trim is rusty and impossible to remove because the fixings are rusted solid. But it will get done eventually. It's currently in my bedroom, sitting on an old rubber bumper tyre I bought from the chap who runs Carter's Steam Fair!

Blimey, didn't mean this supposedly brief introduction to turn into an episode of Jackanory! Sorry about that. But that's me and my strange interests. My name's Robert by the way.

Hello all you shitters just came across this  site recently and tried to join yesterday but didn’t realise they were having trouble with the  enrolling thought I wasn’t worthy however I seem to have been approved!

Love all these old motors and can’t help buying other people’s shite even when I don’t want them ,haven’t got the room for them or most of all the bleeding time to fix there problems..........but I do try, usually with little success however there’s nothing like the feeling of laying under a car on damp cement  getting alsorts  of crud in your eyes trying to fix the unfixable ........it’s great to be with likeminded people! Attached a few pics of my past buys the last one being the Skoda fabia which had 240k miles on it really liked that car but needed a new steering rack which was a bit to complicated/expensive and didn’t have the room for me to do anyway hope you like them and it brings a smile to your faces although they aren’t my oldest past loves ! See you on the dark side!

Hi All, I am Allanah the wife of @mat_the_cat. I've been along to Chris and Claire's field of dreams a few times now and have met some of the forum members there. I chose my username 'Puglet' because my first, second and third cars were Peugeot 205s, unfortunately I don't have one now but maybe one day I will get one again, they were great cars. I have an interest in cars and engines in general, I worked as a mechanical design engineer for many years in various different industries including clutch designer for Quinton Hazell and a year on the concept engine team at Perkins. This weekend taking apart the SAAB engine at Chris and Claire's brought back great memories of that. Look forwards to meeting new forum members and reading the forum content.

Good Evening. I have been having a look and read of te forum for about a month and decided to join up. I've been into cars ever since having the Ladybird Book of Motor Cars. Played with Matchbox, Corgi, Dinky and Hot Wheels. Then built plastic kits from AMT, Monogram and Revel. Had mopeds at 16. Had a VW Beetle at 17. Had a load of VWs since, the odd Ford, a couple of Alfas, and Audi, a Mercedes, some BMWs, a couple of Peugeots. Currently I have two old Minis, a 1997 Rover Cooper and a 1971 Innocenti Mini Minor Mk3... 567553349_InnoMk34.thumb.jpg.8a0239b38275f73a06ec4bae00e001c4.jpg

...For daily driving I have a 2008 Ford Focus and a 2008 Mini Clubman Cooper.

I collect 1/43rd scale models, and have a big collection of Mini based models

So this place looks a good place for some amusement. Thanks for the approval.

PS I used to ride motorbikes
