Owned several shite cars over the years but only have a slightly crusty 98 Rover 216 at the moment that is slowly on the road to recovery after being laid up in 2011. Previous cars include 96 pug 106xn 1.1 05 mg ztt cdti 89 bmw 318is 96 bmw 318is 3x vauxhall vectra (i should have learned after the 1st) A few others and several short term driveway ornaments. Alex66 Posted May 9, 2019 Share Posted May 9, 2019 Hello, I have a love of running dirt cheep cars, having owned along with others; 3 or 4 Metros, 2 or 3 AX's, a pair of R5's, several Fiestas, a Rover 200, an Audi Quattro, A GS when they were dirt cheep and so wish I kept that one and a 2CV that again I regret. Currently a 53 Picasso that cost little and is ideal for our hopeful move up north. Along with this I have a liking for what I guess you could call Shite out of date cameras, did part of my masters using digi cams that cost me no more than £10 inc post. Had enough of working on them, little breakdowns etc and decided to get a new car, I'd had it for months until this weekend when drunk uninsured driver decided to write it off while it was parked. I've since realised that cheap yet lovable cars are far less of headache when something goes wrong. Currently running a 1998 Rover 214 (primarily used by my wife for her 4 mile commute) and a possibly future shite 2016 Dacia Sandero (Ambience trim level - none of this fancy Laureate shite!). Fun fact about the Sandero - it's already rusting in two places on the drivers door and on the bonnet. Weirdly this doesn't make me hate it. I must confess to being a bit of an 80s and 90s Ford pervert and have a one owner Escort RS Turbo in the garage that's done 150,000+ miles and shows it. It hasn't run for almost 9 years and really isn't in tremendous nick but I deeply love it. One day hoping to restore it so my son can eventually flog it for a fortune (if old Ford prices keep doing what they're doing) Shite I have run in the past: 1998 Mk1 MX-5 1.8iS (great car that I absolutely abused for a few years with a daily 30 mile commute on A1/M25) 1998 Micra 'Passion' (relentlessly reliable and loveable car until the clutch started to give up during a roadtrip to France. After making it home and upon further investigations finding a fair amount of scary looking rust, I'm a little bit ashamed to say that it ended up a victim of the scrappage scheme) 1993 Uno 'Start' (Engine absolutely shat itself with no warning whatsoever and due to being in financial dire straits at the time couldn't fix it so it got weighed in. Gutting as it was actually a pretty nice example) 1983 Mk1 XR2 (quite a ropey example that I was forever fixing. Owned before prices of old Fords got silly so bought it for £400, ran it for a couple of years, then sold it as a non-runner without an MOT for £250. In hindsight that doesn't seem so bad but I dread to think how much something similar would fetch these days. Apparently the guy that bought it off me still has it and did a good job restoring it) I also had (and fell in love with) a 2009 Fiat Panda 100hp. Bought new and sold to make way for the Sandero (I know, but the Panda really wasn't a capable baby wagon). I mention it mainly because I feel like there is something inherently shite about the 2nd Gen Pandas, and it's just insane to me that they even bothered to make a mildly warm boy-racer version. Making the case that it's future shite is probably a hill I'm happy to die on Anyway, hello. I'm Kerr. Had lots of shite cars I currently have a MK1.5 Focus Ghia which is pretty tidy (if you ignore the gaffer tape on the front wing) my favourite car was my rusty old Dolomite Sprint I got when I passed my test in 2003, loved that wreck!
