What shit Mazdas do you have? Speaking as a Mazda Montrose Coupe owner.

To be fair, they're only shit because they're broken, but the MX-5 works just fine (write about cars, have MX-5; it's a tradition, or an old charter, or something) and has just passed his 19th MOT. I think I've had three of them (two NAs and one NB).

I did once own a Xedos 9, which was shit only in regards to the fact it had been crashed and optimistically repaired by an 'enthusiast' who very much adhered to the "out of sight, out of mind" principle. The others... eh, when they're moving again they might get threads.

Evening all. Been lurking a while and finally decided to sign up.

Current fleet is a rusty old Daimler XJ40, slightly less crusty CX and, for when I actually want to get where I'm going, a disastra van I got for free.

Not been driving too long but had my fair share of shite, highlights being an E46 318i, E39 520i and an mx5 but my real love is old Jaaaags

Looking forward to getting to meet you all!

Hi all,

Spent a good amount of time reading through the forum but never really posted.

Driving a 1987 Bluebird LX with about 24,000 miles on the clock at the minute, building up a rank 1989 Civic GL hatch into something nice, and I have a 2000 Mb6 Civic that was sat for about 15 years after an accident in 2004 - I just got it running again yesterday.

My only prior car was a burgundy Volvo 360 GLE, and I started on bikes with a 2002 Peugeot Vivacity () at 16 before having a CG125 of some vintage and a 1990 DT125R that never worked properly.

From sunny Bolton in Lancashire, I much enjoy reading your threads and especially the ongoing project ones, reet friendly forum and a credit to you guys keep it up!

Hello all

Newbie shitter here :-)

I don't currently drive anything that maybe qualifies currently as autoshite (KIA Picanto 2 automatic from 2017) but it's definitely future shite & with all the brand snobbery about many average motorists will possibly regard a KIA as shite anyway  .

Previous car was a 1998 K11 Micra 1.3 CVT, now sadly departed. I've had a Metro, Capri ,Renault 5 & a Ford Anglia in the past.

Blame Hubnut & his video's for me being here.

Cheers & happy Easter.

Dave

Hello

New member here. A long history of shite, mainly out of necessity rather than choice to be honest, but now I have come to prefer shite as long as it goes. I have just acquired a £300 Peugeot 406 hdi estate. I hope that qualifies me.

If that doesn't quite cut the mustard, since I passed my test in the 80's I have owned amongst other things a Marina, Avenger, various Talbot's including a Samba and an Alpine. A couple of Sierras, a Fiat 126, a clapped out Honda Civic hondamatic circa 70's, a Volvo 340, mk1 fiesta and many more. Some of them have been an unmitigated disaster but others have been marvelous bargains including the Avenger which cost me £50 and lasted me nearly 3 years. Up to a couple of days ago I had an Almera Tino which kindly deposited all of its oil on the road and I fell out of love with it.

Despite my long history Im a hopeless mechanic so I will no doubt be visiting these boards regularly for advice.

Welcome along Wizwag, of course a £300 406 qualifies you as a bona fide “Shiter”.

There’s plenty of knowledge on here as well as a liberal sprinkling of piss taking. Be sure to keep us updated of your French related car shenanigans.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I'll add a photo later. If anyone wants an Almera Tino with 2 weeks MOT, no oil and warning lights like Blackpool illuminations let me know.

Quick update. The 406 is indeed shite. The clutch bites VERY high on its travel which doesn't bode well. There's a mysterious knocking. A clunk when I reverse.. A wobble when I put my foot on the throttle but not when going steadily. Other than that I really like it. Handles great and plenty of torque (its the 110hp). Don't really want to spend any serious dosh on it so lets see how long it lasts.

Hi all, I found this forum last night and am been really entertained by it.  Most of my leisure time is given to keep my fleet of shite on the road (and sometimes its occupants safe)  I have shite on my drive and have experience of shite in years gone past.

Current Shite:

  • 2002 Volvo V40 146k miles, 1.8 GDI Petrol, not a straight panel to be found, but very comfortable and gobbles miles (and sadly fuel and oil).  I've had this 3 and a half years and it's well and truly paid for itself in usage.
  • 1987 SAAB 900i Saloon with Bosch K-Jetronic (mechanical fuel injection) with rust everywhere, mainly on the front wing and the rear trailing arms, I've had this four years and it never fails to make me smile when I drive it, only that's not often as it doesn't work all that regularly.

Dead Shite (now razor blades and tin cans)

  • 2003 VW Golf Match, awful, truly diabolical.  Noisy, slow, cramped with plasticy seats.  Eventually the engine ate itself and ran on three pots until I broke it for bits.
  • 1995 Renault Clio RL, shitebox, utter, utter shitebox. Very uncomfortable, kids seat would only fit in the front.  Fuel pump feed had been bodged into the LT feed for the coil, used to let go and kill the engine randomly until I mended it.
  • 1999 VW Polo 6N, cheap, had been in a crash but still worked.  Then I crashed it, wife wouldn't let me mend it and put it back on the road.
  • 2001 VW Bora, nice car, but couldn't afford to keep it
  • 1991 VW Polo Mk2F Cheap and cheerful

My Dad however has a far better record of shite, over my childhood we had:

  • Mk1 Fiesta Popular
  • Volvo 340 with CVT Automatic 'geabox'
  • Austin Montego estate
  • Vauxhall Vectra MK1

We have a habit of keeping cars for years and running them into the ground, that's why the list is short.
