Hi, I'm a new member! Just wanted to say hello. I drive my beloved Saab 9-3 OG, which I bought for just over £400, and I have a Porsche 924 project too (Also bought and being restored on a shoestring).

I live in North East Wales, where on I've side we have civilisation and on the other mountain roads.

I was brought to this forum through watching HubNut videos on YouTube. I though he had to be the coolest car YouTuber out there!

Cheers, Tim.

Hi,

Lol I tried to introduce myself using my phone to navigate and missed this thread! But then the first few posts here give me an excuse. Now I'm on a computer and everything makes a bit more sense!

I'm Tim and I drive my trusty black X-reg Saab 9-3 OG. I bought it for just over £400 and has been as good as gold. It's comfy, quick, fun, carries loads all day if you need to. I use it as a band tour bus, a very comfortable family wagon (bear in mind it's the hatchback and it's got the annoying bar across the back of the seats so with only one seat folded so it might as well be a saloon) and my source of fun on quiet Welsh roads.

I live in North East Wales, on one side of us there is civilisation and on the other there are quiet mountain roads.

I also have a Porsche 924 project, also bought and under-going some basic restoration on a shoe-string.

I found this forum through watching HubNut on You Tube, he sounds to me like the coolest car guy in the internet! And this forum seems like a great place for people like me who think that £1000 is far too much to pay for a half decent car!

Anyway that's me, see you all around.

Tim

Many thanks for adding me.  I found my way here kind of by accident after discovering Dollywobbler’s video oeuvre and reference somewhere in it to Autoshite.  A swift Google brought me here and to the most interesting car forum I’ve yet seen.  So I am chancing it as a member although I appreciate there is a risk of being unmasked and thrown out as an impostor who due to lack of time and space has only owned a handful of cars, some of which have not been too bad at least to start with.  There was a series of Saabs, still very much missed.  At present there is a Bavarian Granada Estate.

So maybe see you around the forum.  Or if I get thrown out maybe not.  Whatevs, as I understand the young people say.

Toledo71 is because that was my driving school car, back in the day.  It was terrible, but with a certain charm.  Partly like my driving.

Hi, I've just joined.

I live in the Isle of man and have a clean and unbarried e36 323i convertible, a battered shogun pinin and a forgettable honda civic.

Got my eye on a w124 merc coupe which I may add to my fleet of shitters. My wife understandably loves my tendency to make our house look like a scrap yard.

I look forward to making your acquaintance.

Ah just spotted this thread, HubNut is again responsible for my presence, I'm a bit of a fraud though as I drive a Honda Jazz and don't have any cars that don't go.

I love the idea of owning rusting metal but my total lack of skills is probably a good reason that I don't. Obviously I love old motors and as my name suggests my dream car would be a Wolseley 6/110, just waiting for the premium bond to come up.

I've previously owned all sorts of bog standard cars from Citroen, Rover, Peugeot, Fiat, Ford, VW and am on my second Jazz, so vehicles of the unexceptional have a place in my heart.

Oh I also have a thing for old vans Bedford CA, Austin J2/J4, Thames, Standard Atlas etc, never owned any though obviously.

Thanks for granting me admittance.

Afternoon!

Another new member here via the various on line mumblings of a certain HubNut/Dollywobbler?Capn.Seabrook.

Approaching the time of life where i should be driving a sensible mid sized Germanic Saloon, no doubt financed on some shady PCP but alas no, for my sins I elected to go for the car allowance instead of a company car and i'm still pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable in the company car park, so a modified 220bhp Diesel Skoda has seen some epic service and circa 40k miles per annum and nobody has raised an eyebrow yet.

I've always been in and around the motor trade so i've been brought up on obscure, unloved chod which has always appealed more than following the crowd.

Hopefully in the next 12 months i'll see another Mercedes W124 in the fold, specifically a 300d Auto Saloon with tidy body, 8 hole alloys and full leather. That would even look half decent in the car park and certainly a talking point with customers.

I'm enjoying the forum so far, really refreshing to see folks enjoying stuff that raises an automotive finger (albeit one covered in CV grease) to the establishment.

Hello, I have lurked for several months so thought it about time I stepped forward.

First saw AS mentioned I think on LFGSS..I have a few pushbikes

Had much enjoyment from the collection threads and the roffles, even entering one (ooerr).

Haven't got anything really shite, modern stuff instead. We have a Meriva B, a 2003 Arouser and for the heatwave got a 2006 Ovlov C70, which we're lovin.

Also got a Sym 200 scooter.

This site is proving a great laugh and source of useful info. Keep it rolling!!

Currently knocking about in a 1996 Ford Mondeo 1.8 GLX with a fucked heater. I bought it in Downham Market in Norfolk 18 months or so ago for £800 and it's only had a burst fuel line (hastily repaired with an offcut of pipe dad had lying around the garage and a couple of jubilee clips) and failed to start once for reasons known only to itself.

TADTS re: the heater. How did I miss this! I'm very aroused interested in Mk1 Mondeos - so do post some pictures!

Incoming Mondeo porn. First time uploading images so I don't know how well they're going to turn out. Includes bonus Mk4 Golf and a revealing picture of some of the electrical tape holding part of the rear bumper together after my then girlfriend's mum having a temporary* lapse of spacial awareness in her Renault Kangoo 4x4. Naturally the Kangoo was fine.

A bit late but I missed this thread.

In terms of old shite, which I prefer to call classic, I've a 1968 VW camper and a 1974 MGB, which should be back on the road this year after been 'briefly' taken off it in 2006 when the road tax was £170 and the camper expenditure went ballistic. It should have been back on it a few years ago but a broken wrist and then robins nesting next to it delayed it somewhat. The missus thinks I'm mad putting the MG back on the road but I've had it 42 years now and I'm going through a late-life crisis, I think.

Newer stuff is a dissolving Citroen C15 van, which seems to monopolise my summers treating the bodywork, and the recent addition of a Skoda Roomster to replace a 36,000 mile Galaxy which decided to have a roof leak, even though there was no sunroof, and needed at least £6,000 worth of repairs to the damage caused to the electrics by the rear passenger swimming pools.

If ever there was a forum to which I needed to belong...!

My roll of dishonour to date:-

- Ford Puma 1.7, bought from a farm for £300 - it died on a roundabout

- Rover 75 auto - destroyed its rear suspension one day while I was pottering to the shops

- Pug 306 GTi - Moon miles, bought unseen for £700 from 500 miles away, and it was a great car, until it failed its MOT in spectacular fashion (I shouldn't have ignored the bright red STOP sign illuminating the dashboard!), so it had to go

- Ford SportKa - a total rotbox bought in desperation which destroyed its clutch then blew its head gasket within weeks

- Renault Twingo GT - a nice little car which I wrote off in Glasgow, a minute from the hotel I was staying at - I hit the barrier so hard the car spun around 180 degrees and I made the local news: https://www.glasgowlive.co.uk/news/glasgow-news/car-facing-wrong-way-m8-12521256

- Mini R50 Cooper - Moon miles and had persistent cooling problems so it was always back at the garage being fixed, until one day I got sick of it and swapped it for...

- Saab 9-3 saloon - Quite a nice, comfy place to sit, but then its aircon broke and I got too hot, so rather than fix it like an adult I swapped it for...

- Ford Puma 1.7 - great fun, but I got bored and decided I fancied a change, so I sold it to a couple of lads who took it to the Nurburgring, then bought...

- Saab 9-5 Aero estate - current steed, and it's a magnificent thing, but definitely at the shite end of Aero ownership, with the alternator borked when I bought it, a few dings and scrapes, and appalling condition wheels

That's a lot of money wasted on shite - and you know what? I'll keep on doing it, because buying cars is fun.

Wolseley 6/110s are wonderful things and a car I lusted after for years. After sampling the delights of a manual overdrive example without power steering let me say that you definitely want a power - steered automatic

Power steering is an option that was not often requested when new. I have heard that repairs are hard to undertake due to the lack of spares. Just like MK1 front disc pads NOA. Maybe I should start a thread about my car. But at the moment I have very little time to work on it.

Hello All!

I'm new in these darkened parts of the interweb, and I'm not sure this inaugural post shall shed any light, but let's give it a try all the same!

I'm Craig and I'm a bus driver in Falmouth, People's Democratic Republic of Cornwall.

My car history, until now, has been 100% Mercedes. Starting with a W201 and working my way through various W124s, a W203, a W202, another W201, W210 and I'm now on my second W220 (for me) and W211 (for the missus).

Meanwhile, the W220 has finally wound me up sufficiently to be parked in disgrace until funds allow a full and proper repair of the airmatic suspension. So, I've done whatever any reasonable human being would do and bought a 2002 Daewoo Leganza to potter about in for the time being.

Also, to add some flavour, I've bought it blind on FleaBay and I've got to drag it (kicking and screaming) from Kings Lynn to Cornwall on this coming Sunday.

My good friend Scott (83C on here) tells me my recent purchase should qualify me for entrance to this enviably exclusive club - so hello all and may the Chodlife commence!

Don't let a total lack of skills put you off....

I started off that way two years ago and have learnt as I went along. If you're working on a second 'spare' car that isn't your main means of transport then a lot of the pressure is taken off you. Even if it's in bits on your driveway at 8pm on a Sunday evening you can still get to work come Monday morning.

I started off with nothing more than a Halfords 'your toddlers first toolkit' and a sense of wild optimism. YouTube and this forum have helped me tackle increasingly complex jobs. No nuns or kittens have died yet and I've yet to break my vehicle. Most of the tools that I've bought along the way have been bootfair finds.

As a bonus I'm now servicing and repairing my main daily driver and my lads car so I'm quids in.

Honestly, just get something cheap with some MOT to start with and get stuck in

Welcome aboard fella, when are you off collecting your fine* slice of Korean majesty? I’m working Sunday so might see you....

I thank you squire!

It is indeed and appropriately the holy day I have chosen to collect the flagship-in-waiting. Heading up on GWR 0850 TRU-PAD, then a short hop on those odd sub-surface sardine cans before some other thing on rails to Kings Lynn.

All on a mere 5 hours sleep after tonight's late shift, which I had failed to account for in my eagerness to meet chod almighty. What could possibly go wrong?

Hello,

New member here.. I guess an introduction is in order. Also found this excellent forum through HubNuts lubetube clips and felt at home right away!

I live in Norway since 2007, but am a Swede by heart and soul. Hence my choice of nickname. Norwegian chrome is what Swedes call rust... aaah.. the joy of throwing shite in the faces of your closest neighbours!

Anyways.. I own a couple of projects and I'm pretty sure at least some of them qualifies as shite. Among others I could mention :

Two Kewet Buddys(Norwegian electric cars that began as an German/Danish adventure into industrial design.), one of them depicted in my avatar. Aestetics from hell, and a technical design that is a homage to simplicity. I might tell you more about them later on if interests arise.

One Kia Soul EV that actually is a fairly decent car, also electric and used as the daily runner/work horse.

One Chevy Tahoe that I'm not sure what to do with, all I know is that it loves petrol and LPG..

One Suzuki SJ413 that I've forgotten where I put atm.. This one is definitely a long running project..

One Scania S82 old camper bus. Love this one and it's a classic too, so it does not cost me much to own.

One Volvo FL611 flatbed tower. Acting as a autolift for my brothers piece of shite Volvo 850 atm and as a shelf for my other brothers pottery plants and other veggies....

One Scania 4-series lorry. This is one of my favorites, but I'm not sure what to do with it. People tell me to sell it because it's not normal for a person to own so many heavy vehicles, but what the hell do they know? The collect plants and veggies.. They usually receive a rant right back so they learn to shut the hell up for a while.. most of the time.

A couple of boats, a Ford Transit van, and so on.. Need to cut down on projects, but I have no ambition of downscaling any time soon..

39 yrs old, big as a house, and lives with a dog and a gf a short distance from Oslo in Norway. As I said; I'm always accused of having to much junk at one give time, so I'm pretty sure I'm gonna feel at home here.

Cheers from Norway!
