Fauxrarris And Other Kit Car Replica Shite

I had a similar thing happen.. found a corsa in a car park and got some pics, turns out none of the mods were declared, so his insurer got on contact and voided the policy. Cue one very irate corsa owner trying to locate this "fukkin blue van man" who "voydid my fukin inshurans"

About that time I realised just how rare blue coloured vans are on the road. Nothing ever came of it, and I suspect he was all mouth and no trousers.

Aaah, you're BlueVanMan! *waves*

I also feel guilty for de-railing this thread. Is a separate BB Memories thread required? Hmm.

I used to LOVE barryboys. Check out the 'sick anecdote tennis' thread for all-time classic internet LOLs.

I still go on and read that superb thread from time to time if I want a laugh.  Disturbing, but very very funny.  As are some of the other Gold threads.

Fiat punto + desperation to own a Aventador = LambourgUno

Came up on my google feed yesterday.

As gopping as that is, I have to take my hat off to the imagination behind that one.....most builders start with something that even half resembles a sports car shape but an Uno?

Kit cars I'm cool with. Replicas, with a few exceptions, not so much.  One issue with replica types is that whenever I see the sort of thing that's likely to be a kit car, I assume it is, and therefore not really as interesting as the real deal.  Perversely, this also makes the real deal less interesting because kit cars make them seem less special.  It's like being told you're getting a luxury vintage wedding car and a frigging Beaufort turns up instead.

Replica or real?

A kit car and a replica.  These, I'm okay with, they fall into the 'few exceptions' zone of replica kit cars.  Blue one is a Tifosi SS and the yellow one is a Tifosi Rana, both exceptionally nicely finished.

Literally no idea what this is.  Some sort of Caterham-alike.

Marcos Mantula and a Mini Marcos.

Here's another one of those examples of kit cars cheapening the real deal.  I assumed this was a fake but on checking the reg it does come as a Jaguar, so maybe it's not?

This one too, which one might assume is something like a Robin Hood or whatever, but is actually a Lotus.

Then there's the kit cars that look like other kit cars, in this instance a Clan Croft that looks like a Clan Crusader (with good reason, to be fair).

This here is a Spartan, which is like a Magenta's slightly less ugly relative.

Not a kit car, the real deal... that problem again.

There's more in my offline archives that I've spotted over the years, I'm sure.  I know there's at least one Quantum in there, maybe I'll reupload them at some point.

The other issue with kit cars is how utterly hopeless some of them are. We had a customer with a Merlin (based on a Sierra) and it was just awful. He'd spent 20 years of his life on the wretched thing. He could have bought a MX5 and spent 20 years enjoying it, rebuilding it etc.

Throwing the topic off thread, but I used to be on the same ship as Will66 (One half of the sick anecdote tennis).  A bloody good bloke, who I got on with very well!
