Renault 14 Madness

There was definitely a thread a few years back where some hero pulled one out of a field, think there was more field on the inside than the outside and it more or less collapsed as they pulled it out.

He did reckon he would fix it.

Got to say this is sounding a tad "Hendrys Escort", I appreciate wanting the car you had before but surely it's better to get 90% there in a LHD one rather than never actually get one?

It was Mr Bickle, unless there was one I missed, There was a gold and a blue one which were in a field in Gloucestershire (with a brown Maxi IIRC). I think he decided the Gold one was the worse of the two and was going to use it for spares.

I agree with your comment about wanting the car you had before, even if you sprayed it and put in the correct interior and it looked like what you had before, it still wouldn't be what you had before. Surely any 14 would be enough.

Traders should be easier to deal with, if you do speak to him I would be interested in the 25 turbo or the small boot 104 Peugeot

Have sent them a Facebook message in English and translated into French, well first Filipino as I selected the wrong language (I thought it didn't look like any French I learnt at school)! I mentioned the 25 and 104, will let you know if he responds.

That is two I didn't know about. That red one I can't imagine was saveable I would hate to see what it was like underneath. Love to know about the white TS which Trigger mentioned. that looks like the one around Stourbridge I used to see. Would love to hear more about it.

Great promotional video from when it first came to Britain, very much of it's time, i.e. fun. Not this stylised rubbish you get now when marketing a modern car is portrayed as some kind of fashion accessory with some vague subliminal message pandering to some inner spirit or just your ego!

Right, ok, here you are http://autoshite.com/topic/19618-am-i-mad-for-saving-this-r14/?fromsearch=1

Owner is one Richieg and if you buy it please remember you owe me £250 finders fee

I won't hold my breath....

ETA: Snortle!

First off I am a man of my word so would never choke on a deal.

I already PM’d him on 20th July as I saw the thread. To date he has not replied nor logged in since 2016.

Not squinnying on the deal it’s just I had already contacted him but thanks for the help.

Who is the admin on here I might see if I can get an email???

If I make contact with him via the forum or find a R14 via AS I’ll donate the £250 to the Forum coffers.

If anyone has a Facebook, email or mobile please do pm me I will pay the £250 finders fee.

Lol you're a gentleman and a scholar, but my remarks were facetious - you are either mad or an elaborate hoaxer, either way I wish you well!  :grinning-smiley-043:

Looking at that 14 I would be very surprised if it was viable, it would have needed several new panels and the interior was ruined Unless some how it was reasonably solid underneath (which I would be shocked by) it would I would think be only suitable for mechanical spares. Shame as it was the last surviving Regency model as far as I know.

I would love to be proved wrong, however.

Best of luck.

There's some pics of that NI Regency on flickr, to be quite honest it looks utterly cunted.

Yes it is in a right state. Would need new front panels at least, the doors might be saveable, would be interested to see how bad the rust in the rear quarters is. I wonder what happened to it. I guess it wouldn't be impossible but would be a very brave restoration. I remember the epic Alpine thread.

Well my dad bought a Renault 14 tl in the early 90s...

After selling his Audi coupe, we had this Renault, and well it was yellow and had a black strip down the side so was named the wasp mobile. I rode my bike to Cubs instead Of getting dropped off in it, languished on our drive for 3 years due to rot, was then offered to me at the age of 16..

Now don't twat me for this, but I swapped it for a Carrera Krakatoa bicycle, even now I think I got the better deal..
