K seal, or not K seal that is the question

The rad in my Zodiac has developed a slight leak and I’ve been rather frightened at the potential cost of having it repaired, so what’s this K seal stuff like? I’ve heard mixed reports of it being rather good or “Don’t put that shit in an old car” so what do you learned peoples think?

I will get the rad repaired at some stage but I’ve got more pressing issues at the moment, like the clutch in the Triumph 2000 that started slipping on the way back from a show today.....

I've used it several times its never failed me. Last time was in a Mondeo I was doing a 520 mile trip in every 2 week, stopped the leak and never had any overheating issues. A lot of these pulling it to bits going on about it blocking coolant channels were putting it in something that was fucked anyway. People forget that Barrs Leaks was an unofficial recommended additive on a Jaguar XJ12 coolant change.

 

If its a simple gasket swap, just do it, but if its a PITA or used as a get you by, then use it.

How bad is the leak if it's not bad it might be worth tracking down the old school bloke who will repair the rad rather than the people who just want to replace the core, if your anywhere near stoke I can recommend a good chap

I've had success soldering a brass rad before on my Scimitar. As others have said don't use it on something you value. An older radiator should be recoreable too if you can find a specialist
