1982 Mercedes 508d LWB. Going green for the future.

The whole side I just welded and painted has now got a shit load of fly tipped tree waste piled up against it.

The lazy cunts drove straight through a set of gates they could have opened if they'd checked and threw it off the side of the van against mine. If they backed up another 15 feet they could have put it on the fire pile.

Festering bunglecunts.

E.T.A. There will be a scrap car parked across the gate from now on.

Mojo has been lacking recently for this, I won't have it turn into an unfinished project though, that is not an option.

Forced myself up the yard earlier today after procuring supplies and helping a couple of mates with use of my van yesterday.

Made a start on the drivers door, it's utterly fucked but I can't find a replacement for sale anywhere.

It's a start and step in the right direction, cheered me up a bit as well.

I've ordered some bits to hopefully arrive before next weekend and it's all go again, I doubt I'm the only one who struggles with motivation at this time of year.

Door skin FUBAR, frame not as bad.

First of many pieces attached. Possibly the hardest curves to hammer into shape done.

Anybody interested in a 205 STDT in oberon green with 1.9 GTI wheels?

I need to buy more shit, I don't know how to value it. Obviously not GTI prices, anybody want to put a figure on it?

No mot, needs sills, 1 included.

Google doesn't show much for that colour (maybe I'm spelling it wrong)

Throw us some pictures squire

It's a project. Needs new sills both sides, one sill is included. This photo makes it look good.

The roof paint is oxidised badly and the bonnet is dull. Possibly a mop work sort it, possibly not.

I don't want to sell it, I want to keep it forever but my wandering eye cannot be tamed.

Sold the 205 to my brother in the end.

Got first refusal on it and I'll get to drive it sometimes still.

Been at the yard the last couple of days, was bloody cold but I have my old caravan there now with the heater on, so at least I can have a warm sit down while I have a cup of tea.

Eventually I'll be robbing it of the water heater, shower system and tray and any other bits I need. It leaks everywhere now and isn't roadworthy any more so I'm glad I can use it to help the Mercedes along as we had some good times in it and I was sad to see it was as damp as it was but knew pulling it apart was for the greater good.

Anyway, Mercedes stuff.

Was still properly cold yesterday so I did all the odds and ends inside that needed doing, mostly small rust repairs to the bottoms of the uprights, loads of small patches and fiddly bits.

I left my phone at home so failed to take any photos of it all and had to listen to shit radio all day as a result.

Today wasn't much warmer to be honest but the sooner I get these last few bits done on the rear of the van the sooner I can work inside it so ploughed on anyway.

Started on the other wheel arch, needs a bit more trimming and fiddling still but the genny ran out today.

Pics.

I'll weld all the way along the seam and grind it back. Then sort out either side of it.

Gratuitous camping fleet pic.

It seems the caravan being there has stopped people fly tipping.

Good job as well, the gates were bust open 3 times in a week and a half to tip shit, hasn't happened once since the caravan has been there.

I'm moving my spares transit up there this week as well. Anybody would think I'm there welding if there is a white transit parked there.

It still amuses me that our local authority decided to stick height barriers in all but one of our recycling centres (the one that was already perpetually a total zoo due to being so over capacity), and are then acting all surprised that they've seen a huge spike in reports of fly tipping. Yeah...of course we believe you when you say they're not connected...

Did a bit more on Saturday, got the outer arch welded on and the left side hole done.

I have started sorting out the right hand side of it with a few spare hours on Monday, pics to follow when it's done.

Close to being able to work on the inside now. Plans still TBC as to what I'm doing in there. There will be beds and stuff, that's all I know at the moment.

I'm actually keen to see how you put the insides together…. I've been reading up on the usual conversions and camper builds - but am still a bit wary of trying it on the trailer I have sitting here. I know I'll fuck it up - but to what extent?

Excellent patching up fella

Is it the caravan interior in it's entirety you're trying to fit in? Or just using het electrics and then mod the furniture?

Not planning on using all of the caravan interior, using water heater, shower, shower tray, cold water system, &c.

Mostly filling and painting left now on the metal work, few patches on the cab to be done at a later date.

Got some more colour on yesterday, bit patchy looking in the pics but it'll get another coat yet.
