Skut
Im quite looking forward to a Reliant engine going back in as I find them quite interesting. They seem very similiar to an Imps 875 alloy engine valvetrain aside. Later ones almost same capacity. Introduced within a year or so of each other. All aluminium. Similiar power. The Imp book says that high pressure casting of aluminium was fairly unknown in Britain and they had to go to a Swiss firm to get the expertise. Yet Reliant managed to go from a cast Iron Austin 7 based engine to an alloy OHV in one fell swoop without employing Swiss engineers. Did Reliant not use the same high tech methods as Rootes for casting? oldcars and LightBulbFun
plasticvandan
Reliant did it all themselves,a prototype 600cc ohv engine was made in cast iron to replace the seven copy, but was too heavy,so ally was the only option. As with much of their output,it was all designed in house, tho it is rumoured to have been loosely based design side on the Herald engine. oldcars
There is a bolt on the site towards the rear of the block on the side you can remove to clear the silt out of the back of the block too. I had lots of muck come out of it. dollywobbler
Remspoor
That's an ADO16/17 bonnet stay holding up the tailgate, innit?I have one on my Westminster too. Looks like the shelve was full!
Remspoor
Nice vid.Do we have the UK version of Aging Wheels? Both non-engineering channels but still like to pull things apart and repair. Tip for the removal of a screw four slot head screw that is damaged.Either cut a single slot in the head and use a large screw diver to undo.An alternative is to cover the slots with a small piece of rubber band. One could also use a hammer and turn, but with the fibre glass bodywork of this car I would suggest that could do more harm than good. dollywobbler
I do watch Aging Wheels and find much similarity. In fact, I reference him in my next video. In this case, I knew the screw was starting to turn, so molegrips were fine. Remspoor

dozeydustman
Just caught up with your latest news DW. Good to see the Fox project has started in earnest*, and that you've started to notice the difference 50cc makes to a deux chevaux. I don't think checking the torque on Elly's cylinder heads again was a waste of time, show how much you care about your fleet. I'm looking forward to 2019 on the channel dollywobbler and LightBulbFun
Squire_Dawson
I have one on my Westminster too. What Westminster? An engine running attempt out of the car would be good, but a bit awkward. You could try resting it in a tyre on an old pallet with some slats removed to make a cradle.
dollywobbler
Just seven months after purchase, I've finally moved the Fox! dollywobbler
Moving the Fox allowed this rare moment. The entire fleet together! That's quite a mix of vehicles, and once it has the engine fitted, the Fox will have the second-largest engine on the fleet. That's a bit odd. si1881, Burnside, Six-cylinder and 33 others
