eddyramrod
My niece needs a van for her business. Ideally she'd like a Transporter but the budget won't stretch to that, she's looking at about £1500-ish. She's in Southport and won't want to travel too far to collect. Anyone know of anything suitable?

Cavcraft
I think Dave sold his. Eddy: as I'm sure you'll know anyhow, but for that sort of budget tell her to go for condition, not age. BorniteIdentity and eddyramrod
wuvvum
You might get a T4 for that, they do come up. I sold mine for £800 a year or two back - mind you my phone was red hot and the chap who bought it came up from fugging Torquay, so think I might have underpriced it a bit. wuvvum
This Transit is a bit rough but tested, running and dirt cheap. Cavcraft
wuvvum
Or if she could stretch her budget a little this would be ideal*. BorniteIdentity, LightBulbFun, Cavcraft and 2 others
Wingz123
If it were me you’d know my choice.... (see my picture) Well I would go for either a Sprinter or VW LT35. £1500 will definitely get you one. My friend will be selling a 4.5t on a 54’ Transit lwb that has had the facelifted front put on it and has been downrated to 3.5t so anyone can drive it....it was bought and used by the fireservice and then one of the firemen bought it so always been looked after...can find out more should you be interested... eddyramrod
Thanks everyone. She's messaged me now: she thinks a Transit might be too big, so sorry Wingz, that's the LT/Sprinter out of the window! HiAce might be a good shout though. Seems to be slightly smaller than a Transit so she might go for it. I sent her a link to a Citroen Dispatch and she likes that. Let's see what we can find... Wingz123
What about that berlingo van on here and chucking a little bit of money at it to sort windscreen etc.... just a thought... eddyramrod
wuvvum
A Dispatch / Scudo / Expert with a 2-litre HDI is a bloody decent bit of kit - plenty available for well under 1500 quid too. Cavcraft and eddyramrod
eddyramrod
My thought exactly. It's for collecting/delivering furniture for upcycling so the Dispatch is big enough, on a car footprint. She's had a Picasso before, threre won't be anything too frightening.
wuvvum
Indeed. The most frightening thing about that venture is going to be dealing with the hipsters. mk2_craig, eddyramrod, BorniteIdentity and 2 others

She's had a Picasso before, threre won't be anything too frightening.I reckon the Toyota could be a good shout, plenty for around that money. Merc Vito any good also? Seem less fashionable than the T4 but it's basically the same thing? I think the rust they have is mainly surface and not structural? But I'm not 100% eddyramrod
artdjones
2002-6 2 litre Ducato/Relay/Boxers are great vans.HDi engine, only 84 hp though. They need a check underneath for rust, but are pretty strong mechanically.Pleasant to drive. They are swb but can swallow a lot, especially good with 2 side doors. eddyramrod
Ducato etc is going to be a bit too big I'm afraid. Vito might be a goer though. She'll be messaging me back sooner or later so I'll suggest it.
