Beige mk2 Escort 1300L registration WAE879T was stolen from a property in Droitwich, Worcestershire overnight of 30th/31st May 2018.

The car is standard aside from 4 spoke RS alloys, quarter bumpers & an RS boot spoiler. The car has brown hounds tooth interior & is now fitted with round headlamps & grille.
The paint on the doors is a different shade to the rest of the car.

The car was reportedly seen being driven through Hanley Swan at around 8:30am on 31st May with 2 lads in the car, the driver being described as a pretty big lad. The quarter light window in the drivers door had been smashed.

Seems to be quite a lot of this sort of skulduggery going on at the moment - like them who tried to hot-wire the Scirocco!

If you've got an old car, just take the rotor arm with you when you park them up overnight like I do......loads of fun to think about them trying like buggery to get the thing going, all to no avail!

Agreed, a depressing number of Fords and Minis going missing. I suspect this one, being a two door, will be of interest for the rally community so may get offered there. Otherwise someone selling an RS2000 Vin plate and logbook on eBay as memorabilia will be getting a buyer soon.

Sad.

Probably bought the logbook months or years ago.

Yes, I know someone that had even taxed a Mk1 Mexico log book before SORNing it in preparation of creating* a car from various shells and bits of random Escorts. None stolen, as far as I know.

This sort of shit will be even easier now that you don't even have to buy a bent MOT or pay for your phantom tax " disc".

The Ford clubs and forums really need to be hammering home the need for security on these things. Doubleyeller is right, a missing king lead or rotor arm would have stopped anyone starting it, but with values going through the roof that won’t stop someone with a hiab or a-frame.

Even a cheap tracker setup would be pretty handy, must be loads of places inside an Escort to hide one.

Hindsight and wisdom obviously, and I do sincerely hope it turns up intact with minimal damage
