Haha, nice one.

I saw that you were quite desperate to sell the remaining tickets so thought I'd help it along a little.

I suppose you could always hold the car to ransom, didn't you already mention scrapping it if nobody buys it?

Everyone could always donate you the money towards saving it and you could sell it on car and classic later for profit.

Win win.

Were you by any chance bullied at school Foady-Woady?

Lol.

I know your responses are usually written just to get a rise out of me.

I liked these recent replies which you either edited or deleted.

You seem to have appeared on a few of my for sale threads with your unhelpful opinions or blatant lies but I was willing to let bygones be bygones and help you get another ticket sold.

Ok does this make it any more palateable to anyone so that we can sell the last tickets and get this roffle going?

Should you win, then instead of taking the car (which some may see as a poisoned chalice) there is the option (winner chooses, obviously) to take £300 as your prize

My mate has offered me £300 for the car, so I can realistically do this.

Any takers? Certainly a much better chance of winning £300 than you will ever have on the scratchcards

Errr no.

You've got a car you want £650 for. Or initially roffling for £649 total. Then to grease the wheels, there are multi-buy offers so worst case minimum would be £494. Now you've provisionally sold £423 of numbers, with 11 numbers still to go, have a potential minimum take of £517 or a max of £544. All that seams fair enough. Winner gets the opportunity to bottle it and take the money and the rest of the rofflees cross-subsidise your mate getting it on the cheap? Naw.

But my main point is having a lucrative escape route takes all the worry and peril out of it. Where's the fun* it? Roffles are meant to have all the entrants shitting themselves on a Wed/Sat hoping not win it.

Leave the excitement and danger in, tell your mate to cough up the money to buy it outright or buy the last 11 numbers for a chance to win.

Either way, good luck with the roffle.

When you put it like that, I suppose you must be right. All fairness to my mate, he knows nothing about this roffle, he just made a straight up cheeky low offer for "That silver turd" and I told him that it's worth more because it knows the way to his house - due to the number of times I've been over to see his wife while he's at work  :-D

I had no idea that the dread of a cross country run to pick up an unreliable banger was part of the fun, and that the idea was to NOT win the car!

I just need to get it shifted asap because some 'orrible scrote has broken into it twice and I can't keep it safe indoors much longer (commercial premises doing me a favour) As posted elsewhere, I remove the rotor arm on ole bangers, but it won't stop the ballbag coming back with a HIAB.

I'd say if someone wants the cash alternative then the car is yours to dispose of however you like and for whatever price suits you.

My diesel 305 was obtained in similar circumstances when the winner of the roffle decided that he was probably just going scrap it so the winner was given a cash alternative and I got to buy the 305 at a vastly reduced price.

A similar scenario happened when I roffled my niva. The winner couldn't be bothered traveling so I offered a cash alternative and swapped the niva for an espace.

Well thanks, that was my take on the situation - ie someone might not want to come all the way from god knows where to pick it up, would rather sit tight at home etc. Especially since there is a good chance of the electrics throwing a wobbly on the way back!

I just need to sort something out and fast before knobhead comes back and takes it or burns it. I've actually got an agreed value on it should the worst happen, but that's really not the point

What's the agreed value out of curiousity?

I always put classic policies on an agreed value of £1k. I was glad I did when the Rover crashed in the snow, you never know what they're going to value your car at. That said, the cheapest MOT'd Scirocco is probably £1500 these days.

I kinda want the car.

I've got family down the road, and I've got friends who can move cars and travel this way sometimes, so I've got options.

However, I might well sigh some relief if I don't win it at the same time

Well when I went on the expedition to pick it up, the choke stuck open and then the starter motor died - I spent 22 hours just getting it back to Yorkshire!

Both problems now rectified but who knows what will happen to the "Lucky" winner on the way home?

That said, I think Cobbler's mk3 Fiesta was the only car I ever got on here that didn't break down on the way back home (it waited 2 weeks, then left me stranded on a mountain on a freezing night!)

Actually, come to think of it, the Spartacus 106 never let me down either, but it was still wank because no heater....

There is a huge difference between what they are advertised for and what they are selling for, probably more than many other cars.

£770

Admittedly, they are a bit scruffy but you have some like this bang tidy one on P-Slots selling for a bit more:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1986-VW-Scirocco-GT-S-1-8-Carb-Great-Service-History-amp-1-Year-MOT-/232687062108?nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=y6ZZTrvRjIAYofaTYyzoDzO9mDo%253D&orig_cvip=true

£1,220

Don't get me wrong, when WW was looking at them about a year ago they were all up for £1,500 and selling for about £400 on ebay so prices have doubled for a scabby one but not that much.
