The "Buy it now" I have in mind is £3.5k, as the range of prices for IIB FC's seems to range from £2k for a useless pile of bits through to £8-10k for a really tidy clean fresh MOT'd one, with MOT'd tatty ones at £5-6k and un-MOT'd but driveable ones at £4-ish-k. This has an Overdrive fitted, which is well over £500 worth these days (quite how that ever happened is beyond me) and so £3.5k seems about right.

Shiters discount applies, and the first person with £3k can have it.

(I haven't a clue how a pile of old shite like this ever became worth more than a grand, but I've got bills to pay and I'm *never* going to get around to restoring it, so here it is.)

Thanks. I wasn't sure if I had started rambling on or not, so have added a couple more bits of info at the end, as I realised I'd missed them from the wording.

I have been considering selling this for months and months now, but thought selling it in the middle of winter probably wasn't such a wise plan. With better weather, people (myself included) have more time and energy for a restoration.

It used to look a fair bit tidier...:

It's a very cool vehicle indeed. I've owned it for nearly 2 decades, and I will undoubtedly regret selling it, but it needs someone who can spend the time and money on it that it needs.

It's also now worth too much money. I don't like owning vehicles that are actually worth money as I'll just constantly worry about it. Better to sell it and buy something worth a lot less.

Especially given how much of a target Land Rovers seem to be for thieves these days.

It's one of the reasons I decided to move my Saab on as well, it was getting to be worth too much to be sitting rotting in a corner.

Shame really, I'd always fancied an SIII. Never going to happen though given the silly money they go for.

Series Land-Rovers aren't even anything that special really. Even compared to contemporary vehicles, they're crude, noisy, slow, fuel-hungry, unreliable and dangerous.

The only plus-points they have are durability, cheap parts and ease of repair. That said, if they were more reliable it wouldn't be necessary for them to be repaired so often and need so many new parts...

Also, the people owning Series Land-Rovers have changed. The number of people I've seen on Facebook LR groups who are genuinely worried and stressed about panel gaps, parts originality, matching paint, minor dents, location of switches, wiring loom colour, etc.etc. is genuinely disturbing. It used to be that a Series Land-Rover driver carried a toolkit comprising of a clubhammer and a welder. Now they seem to carry polishing mops and interior cleaner.

Bad timing for me, otherwise I would be on my way to pick this up. Bargain.

You've already got a perkins 4.203 powered 109 and you want another LR with the same engine?

Masochist.

Don't suppose you want to buy two Perkins 4.238 engines to go in Land-Rovers and make them even more nose-heavy and agricultural?

Jetwash if you're posh, hose and yardbrush if not? I don't clean the inside of mine as it upsets the resident spiders, they go on strike and stop eating the resident flies.

Quite.

There was a genuine comment on a FB group for series LR where someone was asking what he could do about the carpets in his series, as one corner would always get a bit damp when he drove in the rain.

Which was bad enough (seriously, carpet in a Series??) but there were responses along the lines of "silicon seal up the floors" and "take it to a specialist who can seal it up properly".

Honestly. If a Series LR has even half the spire bolts holding the floor panels in you're doing remarkably well. Mine were "quick release" for many years.

Carpets in a series? I didn't even have door seals on my lt/wt! It was bloody drafty though.

It did not sell.

About a day before it was due to finish, I got a bid from a minutes-old ebayer with zero rating. I emailed him/her/it to ask if they were serious, and had a big fat nothing as a reply. So I cancelled their bid and put on bidder criteria to avoid that sort of bidder again.

Unfortunately, the person who then became high bidder then emailed me, as he thought he'd been outbid and had since gone and bought something else. Despite the fact that ebay warns specifically about this possibility, he sounded very genuine and as he'd emailed me (well) before the end of the auction, I said we'd just let him get outbid, but if he did end up winning I already knew he couldn't buy it.

Unfortunately, there were no more bids, and he won it. 2nd chance offer to the next bidder did nothing, and the email from someone who said "ooh, shame I missed this, I'll have it off you if the winning bidder messes you about" came to nothing, as I've now texted him back several times and the silence is deafening.

A re-list seems the only way forward now. Arsebiscuits.

series are the only vehicle i've ever drove with a grin on my face the entire time...

slow, uncomfy, steering like a yacht on ice, and crap on fuel

but they are the most fun thing you can ever drive..I've owned 3 109's and 7 88's , as well as a 110 and 90..problem is prices have gone through the roof because of V5's and VIN plates finding there way onto none tax/MOT exempt versions...

fed up of seeing 90's and 110's on series registration..and advertised as TAX exempt...

If you were closer, yes!

My 4.203 is getting a bit of a rebuild (new rings at least) this weekend.

Shiters' delivery discount definitely applies. I would *happily* deliver this anywhere in the UK. If it's as far away as you are, some dinner, a bed for the night (or just some space for a sleeping bag) and brekkie in the morning would be all I'd be looking for, so if you genuinely do want it, don't let the distance put you off.

I used to live in Dundee years ago, so it's even a familiar drive. Doesn't feel like it's that far away.
