Was my cousins, found this afternoon (thanks to facebook bombardment) about 3 miles away at foxhill just of the A61 main rd out of north of Sheffield.

Front caved in damage looks like its hit a step bumper on back of a van over, 30 min trying to get throuh to plod on 101 turned up & said it's been reported in an incident.

Olden init! yep an 89, oh a year older than me says plod!

Was seen with a modern silver hatchback was under bedroom window so saw heard it go off drive , nothing missing except drivers headrest?!

Very minimal damage re getting in/ getting started in so not yobs.

much further on A61 & your in sticks with either M1 or normal roads towards Barnsley is your next major encounter.

Will need bumper,front panel,bonnet,grille blade,one wing,rad prob fan,spots (very expensive ) head lights & indicators the paint.

Plus victim fine of £150 (2 mile to compound!) & £ 50 a day storeage.

So no doubt will be written off.

Seems quite common nowadays unfortunately. In the next village to me a few weeks back, someone turned up with a lowloader and removed a Capri that had stood in someones garden for several years.

It happened in the middle of the day but the neighbours just thought he was getting rid of it at last, so didn't take any notice.

I used to live in the Wisewood area many years ago and before I saw it had been found my money would have been on Fox Hills or Shiregreen for where to look. As for South Yorkshire's finest, I believe the motto on the side of their vehicles says "Justice with Courage". Most people around here believe they forgot the word "No" before both.

Unfortunately I think insurance will right it off due to cost, front crossmember/ chassis rails are intact apart from front panel it's sort of cosmetic.

It was on road behind basset pub, I think it was more a case of dump it away from a main road than knowing the local.

As it appears aim was to go straight on towards grenoside out of the area.

The problem with classic Ford's is one of supply & demand, people wanting parts & cars with not enough to meet the demand.

Bradders, which village was it & do you know any details of the Capri? Mk1/2/3, model, colour etc?

Got to love the policing system, not only does he have the heartache of having his car stolen, the police add further insult by charging him to recover it 2 miles at a cost of £75 per mile!

I had my van stolen. Was somewhere out of sight of home. Next thing I knew I had a letter from a recovery company saying they had been asked to recover and store. By that point it had racked up £400 in costs. It was done very nicely and stored under cover and I'm sure if it was a valuable vehicle it would all have been worth it - no wonder insurance premiums are so high. I didn't claim on my insurance as I did not want the theft to ruin my insurance record. Payed up and scrapped the van there and then as all the ignition was out and window broken. I just could not afford to rack up more costs. Pity as it was a nice old Relay. So I lost my van and it cost me £400. Its what they call indirect taxation where apart from paying our income tax, NI, VAT and Council Tax we pay for any government's service - seen the cost of a passport lately?! Etc.

Wheres the justice in a bloke having his car nicked, then clobbering him with a fine.

There isn't. You are supposed to claim the costs back off your insurance. You can even recover the car yourself if you like and it doesn't have to stop in the years it's been taken to as you can refuse any forensics.

Yeah it's all a twat that it costs so much and it can be a slow process but recovered and safe* but at a cost is better than never seeing it again.
