quicksilver
Oh Fuck. Probably not funny for the people involved but I love seeing big smart arsed companies like google fucking it up. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-33347866 Correct That just reinforces in rather dramatic fashion what I was saying about Flickr's image recognition in the grump thread a couple of weeks back. If even the mighty Google can't get it right that proves this technology is not yet good enough to be appropriate for use in the public domain and sadly it's taken a controversy like this for that to be realised. barmatt
Just got conformation that myself and a couple of mates can rent the workshop next to my house, had a quick look around, it's big enough for half a dozen cars a few bikes and it's also got an inspection pit in there. :D No more crawling around on the floor outside, thanks fook! cobblers, EssDeeWon, Coprolalia and 4 others
trigger
I keep thinking about selling my car magazine collection, they just sit there taking up room in the garage, I don't read them very much and I could do with the money but I have so many that I wouldn't even know where to start or how much I'd get for them. I've not totally made my mind up yet as I know it will be hard to let them go but I need to be sensible, I must have a few thousand Autocar magazines from 1955 to 1994 and nearly every issue of CAR magazine from 1966. Jon
Conversely, I've only seen Reel Big Fish once in Norwich, but must be on 15 times or so for LTJ. Once twice in a week, just because I happened to be going the same direction down the country. NOFX was Nottingham Rock City, tonight I think is Leeds and then they're in that there London. Lagwagon were ace, really tight. NOFX were off their faces, but funny as anything and their music is sort of better sounding when it's not played perfectly. Can't beat 11 songs in 5 minutes. Alkaline Trio were the middle band, and although technically good at playing all the right notes at the right time had absolutely zero crowd interaction. Can't say I've heard of Lagwagon but that does explain the writing I spotted on this Thames Van at Horopito: I just thought it was a nickname pertaining to its wind resistance. I like a bit of LTJ and Reel Big Fish (but I prefer their earlier stuff, as I'm such a hipster), so will give Lagwagon a try. Stanky
Taff
IMAG1216.jpg These buttons finally work after expiring earlier in the year! IMAG1215.jpg Almost wish the zx had air con but then its probably better for it that it doesnt... nice nail varnish I normally try about once per year to see them - I don't care that as they get older, I get older.... always a great gig. Went to see NOFX and Lagwagon on Monday night. Also awesome, 1500 people there and I reckon 1200 of them were active in the pit I haz grin because I have just bought a ticket for the Misfits in Bristol next month. I really ought to know better, but I can't seem to stop myself. Semi-C and beko1987

vulgalour
Mike left Nugget's lights on overnight and flattened his battery. Strangely, this appears to have fixed the Princess' clutch which now works as well as ever it did and allowed me to turn her round in the yard. I'm still replacing the clutch since I've a new one. Front brakes work but don't inspire much confidence, rust on the discs is inhibiting their efficacy. Engine is hunting at idle because the timing is off and the exhaust is blowing from somewhere, one of those annoying blows that goes away when the car gets warm so it'll be a join somewhere I'm guessing. It is nice to be able to have the confidence to get in the car, turn the key and know it'll start reliably now.

fordperv
I popped into town earlier and bumped into an old friend who I havn't seen for around 9 years, it was great to see him, we had a great chat, what did make me laugh though was the fact I've moved house twice since seeing him last, he asked me "you live on........ Road don't you?" which was right, he said "i only knew because of all the old ford's I've seen there, it could only be you i didn't want to just turn up and knock though" this made me smile as everyone knows my house mercedade, purplebargeken, The Moog and 1 other

Tayne
For those of you who like American cars (and living in the past), this will be worth a watch this evening. ROCK ‘N’ ROLL AMERICA, BBC4, 9pm THIS is a new three-part documentary series about the incredible birth, spread and influence of rock ‘n’ roll. This first episode looks at the roots of the music in the American Deep South and talks to “some of the last witnesses to the birth of a music that changed everything ... and they still feel it like it was yesterdayâ€Â. It starts with a survey of America in the 1950s, where neat, identical towns were being planned all over the country for the returning heroes of the war. A life was being constructed for “plain-living folks†and it would be a world of the perfect family, where everyone said hello to one another and lived a wholesome life. But the 50s was also an era of fear, and the pastel-shaded dream began to vanish as soon as it was imagined: there was paranoia about the spread of Communism, the beginnings of teenage rebellion, and the awful knowledge that a nuclear bomb could drop at any time. Amid this backdrop of desperate hope, and an even more desperate fear, “way down south†a new music was being born which was feeding off the tension and ready to take over the world. alf892

Website here: http://www.horopitomotors.co.nz/ . I took this photo a year ago (thread: http://autoshite.com/topic/3232-horopito-nzs-most-famous-scrap-yard-revisited-twice/?hl=horopito) but it may well still be there, as there's an awful lot of long term resident cars that I notice each time I've visited. They have a reputation for knowing how to charge but I've heard some people get some worthy parts and projects from them on other forums. I have a feeling that they prefer not to strip cars for parts if they're mostly complete though but it couldn't hurt to ask.
cobblers
Just went out to fuck about with our lasses Fiat 500 that's pissing water out (stat housing had corroded to pieces at 5 years old) and to replace the rotten breather pipe causing it to stink of oil all the time.Noticed this on the underbonnet warning sticker: Can't argue with that really. It's a shame my mum never read that cos she's fucked her e46 320 cabriolet up yesterday by running it completely dry of oil.
