New POD
Add that shit about travelling and then factor in travelling for work. We have some warranty issues with a customer in Belgium. We've tested all the returns and the vast majority pass our tests, so myself and a technician who can't drive need to go with some valves. It was suggested last Tuesday before I broke up for a short holiday to Budapest that we could drive, from Birmingham, yesterday morning. I calculated that if I did the driving and took sensible stops I would leave the house at 6 am get to work at 8:30 am, get in the car again at 9:30, drive to Folkestone which must be 5 hours plus stops. Of which I would insist on having 3. So 6 hours. Then wait at least an hour for the train. Plus 2 hours drive the other side. I reckon 10 hours. I sent off an email with my suggestion, that we send the parts in a lorry, and fly next week on Monday All agreed, but he's just asked if we can get a later flight back from Brussels. On the Wednesday. There is no direct flight back after 5pm so I'm waiting for him to suggest a flight at 8pm via frankfurt. I may counter that with a flight via Amsterdam on Thursday morning. And spend the morning in Bruges.

Datsuncog
Ah, so that's what the garage does whenever it fits my drop links, in order to make them utterly unremovable by normal means nine months later... I always wondered. catsinthewelder, dome, Rust Collector and 6 others
Datsuncog
Sounds unwise, especially at a higher speed setting, but hey - we don't kink shame here. RoverFolkUs, adw1977, Rust Collector and 6 others

Brilliant! I had to look that product up and have ordered a similar one from Toolstation. Since my new boiler was fitted eighteen months ago there has been a gap round the flue where it passes into the attic. It wouldn't bother me but woodlice keep falling through it and into the boiler cupboard and unfortunately woodlice are a pet hate. I was going to cut a suitable hole in a biscuit tin lid, cut it in two and fix it to cover the gap but now I can bodge it with that stuff. Remspoor
I prefer Antwerp. Way less touristy, thus not over priced. https://visit.antwerpen.be/en This is a recommend beer stop right by the cathedral. 🍻 https://elfdegebod.com/ Yoss
Remspoor
Spanish airport. They still have restaurant table spacing as per Covid regs. That means they are spread out. This one is right beside the entrance to the toilets. Yes it was in use even though tables with a better location were available. privatewire

Using airport facilities is usually so awful that having a cup of coffee by the toilet entrance makes it very little worse on a percentage basis. catsinthewelder
On my one and only foreign work trip I managed to convince the boss to let us stay in Bruges rather than Dover on the way back (after driving to Berlin in one 19 hour hit the previous day). Being the summer of 2020 tourist numbers were well down so he got us a 3 star hotel in the centre for about the same price as the travel lodge would have cost. I was well pleased but my girlfriend was a bit jealous. We got back a bit later the next day but were paid the same and were far better off with an evening somewhere nice than an afternoon at home, too knackered to do anything. They much prefer crystal meth 😅 Joking aside, glad you're potentially getting some peace. When I lived in a flat in Eastbourne I had some absolute wasters above me who never went to work and would think nothing of playing shit music loudly in the early hours every fucking night whilst alternately falling over all the furniture and screaming the place down. Then once the sun came up they'd normally start rutting on the world's squeakiest bed whilst moaning like hippos in their death throes. It has a big impact on your quality of life having to deal with that. Remspoor
