AKA 'the manufacturers won't sell us the parts as they contain explosives and thats embargo'd goods for Russia' so WGAF lets just make them without the bits we're not allowed to buy in

Mine typically last 1-3 years, on 2-3 hours a day max, not much over 1-3000 hrs.

Just had the one on my staircase give up the ghost.  It has been on continuously for over five years, so at least 44,000 hours.

Thinking maybe the cycling on off on off on off is what drives the life expectancy down. Maybe being constantly on, at a rarely fluctuating temperature is better than being cycled up or down in temp.

Kind of defeats the object of them if you keep them on unnecessarily.

5WLED 8 -12 hours a day or 60W incandescent for an hour total on time.

Depends on which propaganda you want to believe. Renault sells or the Russians nationals the car factory.

Some Supercar Classics arrived in the post from @barrett just flicking though them when I should have been working a reader's letter jumped out at me.

Silly Clubbers

I read somewhere recently that some idiots had formed an Austin Allegro Owner's Club. One wonders about the sanity of these people. Perhaps the same people are about to start enthusing over Mk1 Austin Maxis, Triumph Toledos, Cortina Mk3s, Austin Princess 1800 and Reliant three wheelers.

None of these cars, and certainly not the Allegro, Quartic wheel and all, have ever been of importance to the motoring world, so one wonders why these people wish to waste money on pieces of automotive junk that should have quietly rusted away years ago.

At this rate , people will be enthusing about Simca 1500s next.

I hope you are all proud of yourselves.
