What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Had a day off work, come out in the camper for a couple of nights and had a lovely big long walk up on kinder scout. Feel much better for it as my stress levels were about 9000%

I took the most obscure routes around the quieter areas, and only came across two people all day. One of them was my favourite youtube personality (Pat Dickinson) and we had a really good chat. That's made my week really, what a sad bastard!

sat in the C'van , have had  a few jars last night  , sleep in , walked the dog , bacon buttie breakfast ....

thinking about the Focus ....  its just about finished , it slipped the clutch again on a steep hill doing a standing pull away

but it kept going , suspects its contaminated rather than worn out , it burns oil , some funny noises at times ,

the drivers window is jammed shut , windscreen has a crack , the ashtray is full of junk

BWTF , its only got to last to the 14th April ..

Yesterday my 11 am MoT turned up and parked infront of nextdoors closed shutter door. After a few minutes of her just sat there I went out to get the details of the car. She was on the phone ( to her dad probably, as he booked the time) . Her boyfriend was glued to his phone screen when she looked up " Oh you are here".  Yeah I'm actually nextdoor. Looking over "Oh yeah". came the reply. She has been atleast three times before and all the other workshops are closed with just my door open. From where she was parked I counted six different MoT related signs clearly visable on the walls and doors plus the half a metre by three metre name of the business above the window.

Made me smile due to the fact this airhead is actually a teacher.

I went to see a local band last night (the very excellent Marleybone jelly) at rough old pub in Gillingham and over the road was a secondhand shop with these beauties in the window

I was instantly taken back to the 80's and my succession of MK1 Escorts and pioneer head units.😁

A review for a local car dealer of mine that I have happened across, and their subsequent reply!

I have redacted their name as I don't think it's fair to publicly tarnish them without any direct experience of them myself, but the review is readily available online for any prospective purchasers wanting to buy from them.

What I do know is when I wanted to buy a Focus off them a few years ago, I was greeted with the engine warmed up (I had to give 30 mins notice before arriving because the wife was using the car...!?) and the bonnet lock "deleted" (his words) and naturally not opening. I asked how am I supposed to buy a car without looking under the bonnet, he said "you can use a 12" long flat blade screwdriver but I don't have one unfortunately as I gave it away with the last one I sold with the same problem"

Needless to say I didn't buy the car!

I don't know what to think of that experience or the review above! On one hand it's quite funny but on the other hand the dealer's attitude is shocking 😂

Today has been my wedding anniversary, 24 years.

Somehow I never expected to get here.  I was 38 when I met MrsR and tbh had more or less given up on the idea of marriage.  Next year will be our Silver.  Wow.

It makes a change to see the real none filtered not via a PR machine retailer responce. None if this " I'm.sorry that your experience dropped below our usual high standards" bollocks.

Maybe they are also running P&0 ferries PR ?

Word gets around anyway, but if there are reviews and responses  like that on line they should find business difficult.

A certain ex- @BorniteIdentity purple Avensis went in for its MoT today, I don't believe prep was any more involved than someone taking it for a drive around the block. The verdict:

I got to see it again at the weekend, it's still going well.

That’s made my day. Amazing stuff. What a car!
