The amount of new builds I see on a main road is ridiculous.

My £6.27  nut arrived from the local mazda dealer. Bolt was a smidge cheaper from the dealer than a mx5 specialist which is the grin.  But no one seems to sell the nut so the dealer came through with the nut and bolt next day.

Excellent service

I don’t believe his excuse. Anyone changing after running or other exercise will shower before putting on clean clothes.

I like that in the comments, someone points out that the joke needs explaining to 85% of the Welsh population.

I like to take the piss out of my Dad.  A man who was born in Nelson, Lancs, England to English parents, who has an A level in Welsh or what I like to tell him is like having an A level in Harry Potter books.  It's largely made up* and only really useful in very niche groups.

*I know it's a language that is 1000s of years old, but why let that fact get in the way of taking the piss out of your own father.

thing with welsh is, that unlike english there isn't really a proper codified written down version, but many, many different and distinct dialects.

see, me fathers uncle (by marriage) Evan and his best mate Tommy ALWAYS spoke welsh between themselves.

they were from near Caersws , an attractive if isolated village near Newtown, Powys, and when S4C started they were initially excited, cos, well telly was going to be broadcast in their first language.

in practise they were bitterly disappointed cos they couldn't understand one bloody word of it, as it was in "standard" welsh, which bore no resemblance to the welsh they spoke!!

Every road sign in Welsh and English is something I've never understood , it must've cost millions and everybody can read the English sign , spending the money on making people's lives better would've been a better choice.

I get that, but they are very protective of the language here, and have to be. It was practically outlawed in the 20th century. Bilingual signs help English folk like me because you're learning every time you see a sign.

It's worse.  Every official in every public organisation has to make sure every official email is translated to Welsh.

My sister has worked at Bangor university for 20 years, and the contract included that she needed to learn Welsh to a reasonable standard within 3 years. She reckons there are Welsh language pedants who male official complaints if every email isn't translated. Even if it were to 2 English speaking staff. If it then gets forwarded the whole email chain wants translating.

As per grumpy thread, been to Chester-le-Street.

Took advantage of Tesco's free parking and to compensate went in the shop and bought a bottle of Highland Park whisky - recommended elsewhere on this forum.

£40 where it had been £26 last time I was there - with the Tesco Clubcard.

But was only £35 at the checkout  :)

As per Tadhg I will add the same for parts of Spain and all of Belgium. But obviously not using English as the main language.
