Glorious unforcast sunny day here in the Peoples Paradise Of Cornwall and I was outside painting a new field shelter when I heard the unmistakable noise of a Merlin.Sure enough a Spitfire grumbled past heading west.Do love a Merlin.?. Edit, just as I was typing he came back heading east.Excellent.

Had a pretty shitty week last week, including this:

Little old lady hit the front off my car while Roobarb Jnr and I were stopped, waiting to turn out of a car park.
Why the grin - well everyone was okay, and it’s forcing me (good excuse) to drive my old chod. Other than not having any cassettes any more, I’m really quite enjoying having ‘electric window races’ (who’s is the slowest) and fighting the ‘box to get the right gear without too loud of a crunch. Beats only getting to drive it on a sunny Sunday.

Arranged with a friend to take Phoebe to the beach on ' the next nice day, tides right etc' and today was the day. I need Mark as he (bless him :)  ) carried her down the stairs to the beach and after she had a wonderful time chasing her bally and swimmng for it (though I had to wade out a couple of times to help her when the tide went out and left her stranded in shallow water) he had to carry her back up the steps and right along to the car. For a miserable, anti-social old fucker, I have some good friends :)  .

He got soaked even though I rapped her up in a bath sheet, and so did the car. Covered in sand as well so I have actually done the unthinkable and got the hoover out (Dyson piece of shit really) and hoovered out the inside of the car, cor, don't it look better when you can see black carpets instead of dog hair and gruft ?

Also finally broke out the new shoes I bought over a year ago to reeplace the old ones as they were getting knackered. Of course, 12 months on, I have still worn the old ones every day instead of buggering up the new ones, but as the old ones are soaking wet, full of sand as well as being old and knackered, I really have no choice :)

Repaired this doorbell push on the side of the house- stuck a white LED in it and gave it the same turquoise marker pen the car got. Also polished the surround up a bit because it was corroded and covered in paint.

Move on to the front doorbell push, bulb in this one burned so I asked the wife what color it should be. Purple, she says. Okay, in goes a purple-blue-UV LED, so the thing lights up looking like a bug lamp now.

So I have now a working dingdong for the front door and just the ding for the side, so you can tell which button has been pressed.

Technology!

I have been tinkering with my sister in laws Polish caravan today (her 50th birdthday present from the family).

The little kitchen window had some nasty deep scratches like it had brushed down a brick wall so i thought it's like a headlight only bigger i must be able to improve it.

So i went as it with a 320 grit pad on a DA sander to get the gouging off followed by 600 grit paper and soapy water.

The final effort involved my cheap Argos polisher (very good for £40) and 3M's most excellent green top cutting compound it's not cheap at £34 a litre but way nicer to use than farecla G6 as it's easier to remove and leaves no white mess behind.

All told 30 mins from start to finish i ended up with this.

Well happy with the results / big grin status attained.

Followed a 20 plate Iv*co pick-up last week. It was absolutely on it's arse and had three big fuck off one tonne builders bags on the back that seemed to be overflowing with large rocks or stones. Anyhow, he slowed right down to about 20 miles an hour for a bit and seemed to be travelling very, very cautiously. Just as I wondered why he was doing it, we went past two of those plastic coppers 'Highway Traffic' cars that were parked on the left hand side.

Bet his arse was going big time, there's a VOSA weighbridge about a mile from where it was.
