Spottedlaurel
Pleasing 1980s timewarp moment on the way to work in the week. I was driving the E-reg Sunny when coming the other way I saw this: 1984 Opel Manta 1.8S Berlinetta by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr And then this a car or two back from it: 1987 BMW 528i Auto by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Or it might have been the other way round, it doesn't matter. I don't think they were together, the Manta is a fairly regular local sighting and I saw the BMW 30-40 miles away a few weeks ago. Shame the A-reg Renault 20 that I've seen several times locally wasn't also out and about. Joey spud, Skizzer, myglaren and 3 others

greengartside
Right, as promised I went to view the Astra I mentioned about a couple of days back. It is a one-owner (now deceased) car, 56,000 genuine miles on the clock. Purchased from Edwards Vauxhall in Lowestoft, Suffolk in January 1984 and lived in the area all its life. The owner stopped using it around 20 years ago (after ‘98 as it’s been SORN’ed) and was put away in a lockup and forgotten about. Ive had a look and on the face of it, it’s not too bad. There is a lot of surface rust on the bodywork and the rear arches are looking frilly. The front valance has been bent up (I managed to pull it a bit straighter) and there are rust scabs here and there. The sills look to be in good order and there is surface rust underneath but without having it on a ramp I can’t tell what it’s like. The interior is in very good condition, a lot of period stickers and trinkets, especially in the boot. Original radio (I think). The ignition column has been taken apart so assume there isn’t a key with it. Its a halfway house, it’s good enough to be restored and used or good enough to be picked clean for spares. The yard owner will sell it complete and I have no doubt that it would start and run with some petrol down the carb. He is open to offers. It is still on SORN with the Doovla as no certificate of destruction has been done. David Yarham Salvage - Seething near Brooke in South Norfolk. 01508 482612. I know nothing about it, but my son has been headhunted a few times. As I understand it.... You can be headhunted by a company with an internal headhunter, which probably means you have got the job if you want it. Or headhunted by an external headhunting firm, who recommend you to a company possibly along with a few other people. The Company make the final decision. Once you are on a headhunters books they tend to offer you other jobs as years go by. Mainly because they get huge commission, and it's easy money for them if they know you already. richardmorris

I was young baker of the year for Greggs back in 2001, but lost the love after a while and just never bothered again. dollywobbler
Thought I'd fire up Tinder as I'm in Kent. It's a bit different to Wales! I've swiped right on a Nova, a Ka, a Mercedes and a Savanna(h) so far. These ladies all seem rather glossy though. jumpingjehovahs
Popped into Costco for fuel and stumbled across this impromptu meet - although none of the drivers were to be seen. Having the roof down, I got a good waft of that old Ford smell which was a real nostalgia hit. Pictures taken with my car and my brothers modern Ford both looking absolutely outrageous in comparison. These really were beautiful. This really made my day! NorfolkNWeigh
Parked next to a 2009 Audi A6 estate at the airport earlier, it was a taxi from Suffolk and I noticed the front end was quite stone chipped . So much for Audi paint quality ,I thought. Then I looked up the mileage- MOT'd last week at 347,000 miles, no advises ! Joey spud

You can achieve the same effect but in reverse if you park the RX next to a current Discovery, as I noticed last week..... Tamworthbay
I was heading home when I spotted a car I didn’t recognise in front, it was about 100yds away at first. From the look of it, it looked like a five year old with no eyes on a rollercoaster had attempted to copy the back end to a Rover 75. It was truly hideous and looked sooooo cheap. I assumed it was some Chinese monstrosity I had missed. Nope, as I got closer I noticed the unmistakable RR badge in the back. And to add to the ‘quality’ look the number plate was wonky. I was chuckling to myself all the way home. It’s the small things in life........
brownnova
Had a lovely moment on the M5 last night where a young man in a rather new Golf R seriously underestimated the acceleration skills of a 22 year old 190,000 mile Saab Turbo...
