I wondered what had happened to this !

It belonged to my late sisters man and disappeared after his death. Very happy to see all is well with it.

You're right: that's a truly terrible bit of design. I'm not a fan of Audis but it's unlike them to get a design detail like that so completely wrong.

Probably because it's cheaper to have one Speedo and dash for all diesels. No matter if it's a 2.0 140bhp or a 3.0 TDI with 240bhp. Except the fastest are electronically limited to 155mph.

Same speedo across the range?

The speedo in my GS only went to - IIRC 100 but often hit the stop and continued to accelerate.

Quoted top speed was only 87mph.

I remember reading an article in Car where Setright was extolling the virtues of his bASe GSA, including its ability to continue accelerating way beyond its official top speed.

The speedo in my Cadillac STS went up to 260mph.  This was because it used the same graduations for mph and km/h - if you pressed the button to change to metric it just altered the calibration of the speedo needle so it went round the dial more quickly.

Pleasingly, the Jaguar XJ6 the gangster (Patrick ‘Chisholm’ Malahide) drives in this week’s Luther is both taxed and Moted. And it has that tweed/leather trim you got in early base XJ40s. And lovely original TWR dealer plates.

Luther’s Volvo 240 is still on the system, last taxed July 17 and Mot expired July 18. I would have thought it was filmed later than that, maybe film companies don’t need ‘road legal’ vehicles if the roads are closed.

It's also a 118 plate similar to another red XJ6 on this forum

Obviously I found this by googling 'Ford Puma'. The question is, now she's 42 will she change her name to Cougar Swede?

Johanna Jussinniemi, better known by her stage name Puma Swede, is a Swedish pornographic actress and feature dancer. The first part of her stage name comes from the sports car, the Ford Puma.

Our A4 speedo goes upto 180mph. Being a standard diesel (which probably was the most common spec they sold), the top speed of this car is only around 130mph. That is around mid position on the dash. This irritatingly means that a good quarter of the gauge is even possible to be used. 70-80mph which is going to be the common max usage speed for like 90% of the world its sold in, is less than half way on the range. Sub 40mph you can't easily see as the steering wheel centre blocks it.

Utterly pointless and very annoying.

I usually leave the middle screen on speed as its far more useful.

I don't think I could handle the needle never being above that first half or so - it would drive me crazy.

The saph speedo goes up to 150mph and many years ago on a private test track with sutty2006 in front in his mondeo st tdci I saw an indicated 140 (god knows actual speed you know these old ford speedos) it made me laugh

I did think the mk1 sierra 1.3 and 1.6 speedo was optimistic at 130mph

I once saw 135 mph on the Speedo of a 3 speed automatic mk2 cavalier 1.8 CDI

I reckon it was doing 70 ish.

In Wales.

This story about 11 e34's bought by a Bulgarian hire company then forgotten about. The ultimate barn find? image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

Never registered, no miles.

Not sure how they'd be registered anywhere in EU now, as they don't meet current new car standards. They'll probably end up in Turkey or somewhere less fussy about regulations.

Saw a white VW Golf MkIV Estate SDI at Tesco in Dover this afternoon. The Holy Grail of post-2000 VAG spots. Rare as Hen's teeth.

There's a burnt orange Polo Estate SDI in Deal and that's probably even rarer but it's on a pre-2000 plate. Almost nobody bought an SDI Estate Golf. So far, I've only ever seen two and the other one was in the Fleet Air Arm Museum car park about two years ago.

Brightened up what would otherwise be a miserable day.

Hmm SDI
