Don't discount changing this again soon. The cheap MAFs are generally absolutely dogshit. It'll work for a bit but they don't last and often bugger up the fuel economy too. My TT had a BBT branded unit from Euro Car Parts on it. I was getting ~20-25mpg with reduced boost. Replacing it for a genuine Bosch (only £60 too) restored it to 30+ mpg and all the power back.

decided too buy complete unit ( price for a bosch sensor on its own was naff all difference), wever i just separate it cause i is lazy yet too be decided

The Bosch sensors usually have a weird security screw on the MAF sensor to housing that is a bugger to find. Looks like a security torx but it's not and one doesn't fit.

The complete unit makes sense. Also the air guides on the front are an important calibrated part of the complete sensor.

The fleet expanded yesterday with the purchase of a smol, red thing (Bini R50, Getrag Box, 1.6 petrol) that dumped the coolant someplace near Lichfield. Went rather well before that tho'.
Feck.
Nice man with lorry turned up from Telford and we negotiated a deal with Brittania rescue that suited all three of us. He dropped me at Telford train station about 30 seconds before the hourly train home.
Result.
Got into the Ovlov at the station and wafted serenely homewards. 15 minutes later it's FTP'd. In the rain. With no mobile signal.
Feck.
Trudge 15 minutes up a dark road and summons the Cactus Girls* (wife & sprog), who attend quicker than Brittania Breakdown, and we limp home with sprog towing, wife instructing and me dangling off the back, on the end of the strop, in a darkened car with little brakes. Downhill was interesting.
Result :-)

*Cactus Girls? Comes from the FreeLander terrain mode button - road, snow, Welsh forest, cactus crushing modes. Low ratio box would be better but, hey, it's an SUV really.

The side repeaters on the i10 were looking tired so got a pair of aftermarket ones from China £6.11 delivered (via ebay) including new bulbs! They actually fit and work too. @tooSavvy just in case you need some for the Stan Getz, they'd be the same...I had to finagle one of the connectors tho.

I saw an American saloon car - Chrysler 300c? On the A1 today near pebo.  I thought it was R666rtk but that's a 5er.

@RichardK I saw it and thought of you.  Any chance it's a previous car?

No. though weirdly I do own a physical plate of R666RTK because the dealer cocked up K666 the first time.

The only RTK plate I left in the wild was C6 RTK because I hated the car so much I didn't even want the plate.

I did have a 300C but it was a silver Hemi Touring, a stupid thing to have sold but I was 'going to move to America' and 'going to buy an Avantime' and other bollocks ADHD destructiveness.

After yesterday's double FTP, today's bonus ball was:

'bing' - 'yer airbags' are shite' from the van.
'feck' - 'I left my OBD dongle in the FTP Bini' from me

On the bright side - Ovlov battery (Tanya) and alternator ordered this morning, both should be here tomorrow - that's such an amazing thing compared to what? Twenty years back?

My son has a much modified 300zx Nissan (really not my cup of tea) that has sat unused for about two years.

IMG20230926143900.thumb.jpg.5e7c6bd60e8d05a0c1b26f93e131fd7d.jpg

Back in the summer it was started and wasn't happy so fresh fuel was added and it ran a bit better but then it choked up and stalled. When he tried to start it again the engine had now locked up.

A bit of detective work involving removing the coils and spark plugs and trying to crank it over revealed it wasn't seized but no 5 cylinder was actually brimmed full of petrol that was now being ejected at great velocity onto my neighbours Kuga and cylinder 5 kept ejecting fuel even with the injector unplugged.

I suspected the injector had stuck open where the car had been sat around for so long so it needed removing and testing.

One of the injector hex screws was a doddle to undo but the other one required the intake assembly removing which looked a right faff.

I've never had much success with grinding material away with Dremel type tools but my son had a genuine one so I set to and ground away a big chunk of inlet manifold to access the hidden hex screw.

I gave the injector to my son who was going to get it tested/replaced but he was moving house at the time and lost it for a month or so then found it again and dropped it off a tuning company in Maidstone who also misplaced it for a while before finding it and declaring it perfectly serviceable.

So fast forward to this week and a dry day presented itself yesterday so with new seals added the injector was refitted and the old thing fired up on 5-6 cylinders and sounded very top endy and smoked a bit out of one tail pipe.

After more fresh E5 was added and the oil had got around the valve gear it came up onto six cylinders and quietened down nicely. It took a fair few runs up and down the village to clear the smoke from the exhaust but mostly it seems ok now.

The worry is why did injector five fill its cylinder up with fuel then fix itself and will any of the other injectors decide to copy it later.
