At least the stuff I've bought from ANG in the past has always been decent quality. It might be a good idea to check the length of the new retaining pins before buying the kit. I bought a new spring set supposedly suitable for our Maxi and the pins were about 5mm too short. The rest of the kit was OK but I had to reuse the old pins, which fortunately were in reasonable condition.

vulgalour
@Slowsilver since it's just the washers I need - the springs and pins seem like they'll go another round yet, though I'd prefer to put new ones in if I could find any - that's not too much of a concern at least. Providing the washers are the correct diameter. @SiC that's the plan. No point trying to save the hose since it's going in the bin. SiC

HMC
About 32 in Tavistock, my house has huge thick walls and is partly built into a cliff so it’s nice and cool in the lower floors. Old school “tech” I work in a Georgean Manor House with big windows and that was hot; ironically we are having air con installed but it won’t be on the button for another week or so. Could be alternator, but sounds a bit like a PAS pump running dry. I'd check the PAS fluid level first.
