egg
Mazda back home, no chance to inspect it - but new rad/coolant, oil and filter and apparently the PAS leak dealt* with. I'll update the thread in the morning, but sounds good. LightBulbFun and BorniteIdentity

GrumpiusMaximus
Today’s chariot to Devon to pick up a sofa. Hire fleet poverty spec but is well put together. Steering incredibly light, underpowered because it’s poverty spec but actually pretty decent otherwise. Craig the Princess

brownnova
I was browsing Saab 900 convertibles for sale when I saw this... JohnK
A number of weeks ago, @chatsharris, @richbraith and I were having a group chat on Facebook which determined that Chats would be in our neck of the woods at the end of August for his mates stag do. After much arm twisting* we convinced Chats to come up a day early...i would put him up at mine and Rich would leave the beloved Mrs B for a night to drink beer and also stay over. So tonight, there are 3 shiters in my house and how nice to socialise away from cars etc and also minimal car talk (aside from us all nearly buying a Fiat Punto - see My earlier post, unfortunately the rear outer sill came away in my hand!). A thoroughly great night and testament to this forum that great friendships can result and common interests outside of our car hobby can be found. The 4th chap is a mate of mine and Rich'S.... A mechanic who owns a garage called Retro Performance. I think that summarises why we all got on. dollywobbler
Spent the day meeting Autoshiters yesterday, which allowed this epic scene to occur. I borrowed Six Cylinder's BMW for a spot of wafty indulgence, and visited Mr Schwifty for hot Peugeot action. The Mk5 Escort was just the icing on the cake, and makes me realise how long it has been since I even saw one! What a bloody lovely day. Now back in Wales, still with the BMW, which I like for many reasons, but dislike for the uncomfortable seats and tired wiper blades. May treat it to a new set. xtriple
I like the white plastic pig, can't afford it (I don't suppose?) but if I could/can, then will/woud Proper 'what a wanker!' moment today: was getting grumpy 'cos the air con still doesn't work properly, lots of fan action but the wind blown through the vents is no colder than ambient. Then read the effin' handbook and it was a lightbulb moment, a switch was in the wrong place! Press switch and ice cold air is blasting all over me. But I LIKE little red lights! paulplom

kirton
Brown envelope in today's post; another car tax I thought after donating £265 last month - I hope it's the wife's car at £30; no, it is my second driving licence renewal offer which I reckon really sets me on the slippery slope from wrinkly to coffin dodger. It made me think how many over 70s ignore the licence renewal and are driving around without one, let alone the untruths about medical condition. worryingly the questions don't include anything about general physical ability. There are a good number around the village who struggle to get in and out of the car and/or have badly reduced reaction times. The final question is "any problem which needs driving to be restricted to certain types of vehicle........." ; would this mean a friend who has to have an automatic due to lower limb neuropathy should declare himself? (as he hobbles around on two sticks). "persistant alcohol use?" - looking at the supermarket trolleys leads me to suspect that this is under reported. Me with my needing at least triple heart bypass and a replacement heart valve appear to have nothing to report. tooSavvy and Asimo
brownnova
N180-N194CDB all seem to be Saabs with a couple still on the road. N195 onwards seem to be Vauxhalls. My grandad had a heart valve replaced a year or so ago and had to go through the dvla stuff. Was touch and go for a time, he passed though. During it all Granny started driving again as she hadn't driven for a few years due to health. Would have fucked them right up if he had not got it back... Won't be long though I doubt, I still remember following them with Amy for a funeral some years ago, that was 'interesting'
Timewaster
The reg. look up game is addictive. Strangely, looking up my motorbike the bike before mine is a Suzuki that only lasted 3 years, and the one after is a Yamaha that only lasted 3 years. Mine is a Honda that was last mot'd 2017 and is now 30 years old. puddlethumper and LightBulbFun
Tamworthbay
My first ever bike that I bought brand new from Palin’s in Derby in 88 was still around in 2014 so decent chance it’s in a shed somewhere.
