Good luck with mx5 MOT!

Ghosty - i think the calculation is wrong as that is very high. Found this online (not sure how true it is with everything on the net) supposedly from Mazda Manual:

The 116 HP Miata 1.6 DOHC motor from 1990-1993 is a normally aspirated version of that 323 turbo engine. It mainly differs from the turbo counterpart in higher compression pistons (to 9.4:1), lighter connecting rods and a lighter flywheel. This means that the NA version of the motor is quite over engineered for its applications. (how many NA motors do you know have oil spray cooling for the pistons).

The automatic transmission version of the 1.6 DOHC engine has lower compression pistons to 9.0:1 and the camshafts have less duration. These changes were done for the automatic version to gain torque at a lower rpm and minimize detonation from the torque eating trans. The tradeoff is a less peak HP rating of 100. "

I think the BMW M30 3430cc engine has an oil spray bar for the cylinder head.... we were forever being reminded to check that the bolts didn't come loose.

I'm assuming that the transmission in Ghosty's MX5 is the same Mazda/Ford unit used in my 323, and many other 90's applications (F-4EAT)? 4 speed. Except not listed on the wiki?

Time for some new rubber. MOT upcoming.. also fitted new Bosch wipers and got the front washers working again.

Whilst down here a very original X reg Escort Ghia reversed out of that garage behind, didn’t act quick enough to get a shot. Damn.

It's 7:23am, I'm not sure I've seen anything before 8am for a long time, didn't even need an alarm. Off to the scrappy to rob some bits from a C5. Is it going to be worth being tired and grumpy at work tonight? Absolutely!

List please DD

List will be forthcoming. I know there are 2x Talbot Sunbeam ones and 2x Citroën AX. I’m not going to be at home until tomorrow morning and they are all boxed up and packed in with a load of my other belongings I’m bringing back from the folks!

I wish I was able to get up so early every day, but I work 4pm-midnight most days so it's not really possible usually.

Igot most of the parts I need but being unable to lift the car isn't helpful. It's also very warm and quite rainy, so now I'm tired and grumpy already!

Did Autodata publish anything for the Citroën CX?

I have no idea! I’ve got to have a good look through the manuals and see what there is, what sort of condition they’re in (they range from almost new to tatty).

I’m taking a short break from sorting through all the stuff that is apparently mine at my folks and my grandparents old house, car is nearly full though. I has found more cameras though for my growing collection, inc a Bell & Howell 8mm cine camera!

Local village fete today. It’s a small village of about 500 people,  but some interesting stuff is clearly parked up behind garage doors.

Bonus points for identifying the car in the last picture.

I was due to take the Mini but the tyres aren’t being done until Tuesday and I didn’t want any neighbours communicating their concerns with any visiting members of the constabulary.

Just took the 635 out to buy some mushrooms. It hasn't been out for a month or so. It really doesn't like low tyre pressures. AHOY there me mateys...

Mushrooms bought, strange clicking from rear brakes was worse than ever. Have to pull the handbrake up a notch to shut it up a bit. Think I may have to do some work on it. I'm guessing the shoes retaining clips have failed and they are catching the drum. Luckily I have a set of new ones ready for install.

I'm getting 4 tyres for it too. I'm looking at the hankooks that are on the Merc because they are grippy, this car needs that, I'm also I'm 11k miles deep on the Merc and the fronts aren't even halfway worn. Either that or go with Dunlop blues because I had those on the touring twice and they were a good tyre. I've always put SP01 sports on it but they crack up before they wear.

Looks well posh on its new private plate. The UK number plate is so intrusive on car design, it's amazing the difference another plate can make. Save yourself a few quid, if you are bored with your car... Don't sell it... Instead, get it on another plate!
