The new news 24 thread

Recommended Posts

The Civic needs to be re-insured after all the mods.

I'm going to take it off the road for a few weeks, as at the beginning of August I won't have to declare a claim made against my mum in 2014 any more, where her old Polo's ABS decided not to work and cracked the bumper on a nearly new Jazz. Naturally the occupants claimed whiplash.
That should soften the blow slightly. It's a telephone job as online is just 'computer says no'. It's frustrating not to use it, but the T5 is more than enough fun.

In other news the 305 has departed northwards.

This page of the News24 thread is already making me very happy. There are loads of old Vauxhalls, HMC is back in a happy(er) place, Cavcraft's 2nd/3rd/4th career is taking off, loserone has a new toy (can't quite tell if he's happy or dismayed in that photo), and the arbiter of good taste in most motoring things RobT is perving over the same nondescript Astravan as me.

I left Mike at Dishforth Interchange on the A1M as we both needed to come up opposite ends of the North East Region. I have since heard the 305 is back home in County Durham.

Don't forget to SORN the Civic, so you don't get an automated fine for having no insurance.

+1 to all of that, especially the bit about HMC.  Top shiter who deserves better things out of life.

The last issue of Retro Japanese goes on sale today. I quit for personal reasons, but the publisher decided to call time on it for commercial reasons. What a three years though. I've loved editing this one. Very grateful to esteemed historic Autoshiters Hirst and RatDat for their contributions to this one. How cool was it that I was able to edit a magazine where I could have a Mitsubishi Colt as the lead image?

It means I'm now officially a full time YouTuber. Which is a bit scary, but also exciting.

If you like, you could buy a copy via the link below. Also, keep an eye out for Retro Cars. It has been comprehensively overhauled into something more akin to Autoshite in print.

Wonder did the o ring pop off behind the flange? I reckon if i take off the bigger bolts and the hose clamp and dipstick i can get the pump out without removing the belt again

So took it all off again, removed the flange the pump bolts onto with the pump this time and made sure it was all tight - I think it was a long bolt at the bottom of the pump that i couldnt see when fixing it all back up and was not closing in fully.

so back on the pump, back on the belt and all others and start her up.

Went first tip as per usual - let her run 20 mins or so topping up the water as it burped out. Rad is getting hot so i am guess its pumping. Around the block. All good.

Needs a a longer spin to see if the temp is being controlled. Cos that is what prompted the pump change, but when i removed it, it seemed fine so, fingers X-ed.

As of July 4th I am unemployed, through my own choice.

I've never been unemployed since I turned sixteen and I've never had a job interview. This should go well*.

Stay positive Andy.

I made myself unemployed in February as I needed to quit the bullshit.

It made for an arse nipping moment when I eventually got it right in my head, was too late then though.

Whilst the current job is a stopgap and not what I plan longer term, the previous job was the one last thing progressing my mental health issues and reminding of bad memories. I needed to distance from that and also certain people who I brought with me from previous jobs that I considered friends and screwed me over. Working anywhere was better than that.

Keep focused, tailor the future job applications by individual job spec etc and stay positive.

I've lots of experience recruiting so happy to review a CV, discuss interviews, or chat etc, just drop me a message on Facebook if needed.

Dont know the circumstances on why you've made your decision but it must be the right one for you right now. Good on you for having the bollocks to do it.

Yeah, Henry has always been shit at dog hair 😂

Reckon a nice day out in the sales for it tomorrow, though I'm struggling to get the kids' seats tight enough in the back

Both Sam and Max were straight onto helping clean the interior up and did a sterling job, its 100 times better than what it was.

Some TLC Mike and a bit more time with it and you will warm too it. She is quite a charming old thing.

In other news the guy I bought it from added me on Facebook yesterday. We have laughed about Saturdays events and he has stated he is just happy somebody else is into old tat like him.

I've sign posted him here as his collection was ace!
