dollywobbler
So, Lexus deposit received, so I'm now scouring the classifieds. I didn't want another barge, but then I've been offered a Nissan QX at not expensive. Lexus is heading to the North East, so I'm searching around up there at the moment. purplebargeken, The Moog, DVee8 and 1 other

blackboilersuit
How hard can it be to change a CRV clutch pedal, it's only held in by 2 nuts, one bolt and a clevis pin????Three hours of lying upside down in the drivers footwell with half the lower dash trim removed proved that I really do need all those socket extensions, wobble bars and universal joints in both 1/4 and 3/8 sizes. Still it's done now and I've been rewarded with a silky smooth clutch that no longer creaks like a door in a haunted house. catsinthewelder, xtriple, chodweaver and 2 others

Hence why I've been lubing it up for now. Needs doing again actually. Clutch works great just creaky when dry.

blackboilersuit
My pivot was ok, turns out one of the little nylon bushes at the end of the spring has gone AWOL. This would explain why my previous attempts to quiet things down with a can of spray grease had been a bit hit and miss. While £28 delivered is a fair price for a good pedal assembly it's still slightly annoying that it only really needed a 10p nylon bush.
SiC
Yeah I seemed to remember reading the Honda service bulletin on it being the pedal box assembly that is main problem. Twosmoke will likely know all. blackboilersuit and twosmoke300

Wack
Years ago I saw a guy in a council van cleaning out the changing rooms at some council football pitches , I joked I thought the council subbed everything out these days The guy said they still look after the changing rooms but not the pitches , he said when he started 20 years ago there were 18 guys tending the pitches and 4 in the council office , now there's only 4 of us left but there's still 4 in the office , can't say I'm surprised , they wonder where the money goes
trigger
Looking for used cars in the sub £3000 bracket is such a minefield, I can see why people put themselves in debt for new cars. I own this little 2004 Fiesta 1.4 TDCi Zetec, it was my mum's before me and has only done 35k, has full history and needs for nothing. As a second car I only really use it for work and occasionally meeting friends in so it doesn't get much use but I'm getting bored of it, it's not excatly much fun to drive, now I have two children I really could do with a 5 door car for when I collect them from nursery and I prefer bigger cars so I thought I'd see what's about, I went to see a Focus locally that was ideal but that had sold, yesterday I enquired about a 10 plate Fiesta 5 door 1.6 diesel which was a good price and low mileage, it all sounded good until I checked on the Autotrader site where it came back as a Cat D, the seller never told me and it wasn't in the advert! Crafty bastard. Then today I drove up to Norfolk to view a Focus 2.0 TDCi estate at a garage, again it sounded really nice and it looked really smart too until I started it up and found it ran as lumpy as arseholes and kicking out so much blue smoke that I couldn't see the salesman, who didn't speak English other to say "needs injector cleaner". Everything in that price bracket seems shagged out or high mileage. I'm tempted just to keep what I have now. In other news I went and started the SD1 today for the first time since October, it's been in the in-laws garage and I haven't even seen it since then! I knew the battery wasn't much good so I've got a new Bosch one from ECP eBay which was £30 cheaper than the store with their discount and popped it on, it took a bit of turning over to get the fuel up but once it fired it ran lovely. I can't wait to drive it again! dome, xtriple, Barry Cade and 8 others
Ghosty
I'm not holding out much hope for finding an interesting replacement for my Volvo at around £1500. Especially as the kind of car I'm after is unlikely to come up in auto and has a good chance of being completely shagged. Don't want to end up carless though... Also, I despise that gen of Fiesta, never been in a car so uncomfortable and claustrophobic. They feel horribly cheap too.
Hertz
I've bought another Rusty Renault. A getting rarer these days Clio 1.8 16V. Thanks to D Spares and Tyres for picking it up and delivering it to my mates covert flat. My mate can't stop pissing himself so it doesn't sound good... It was cheap though so plan is to get it up and running, detail the rust then flog it on. The Alpine goes in for it's MOT today, like Triggers SD1 it's not been touched since I parked it in the garage in October. Fingers crossed it goes well. eddyramrod, RobT, loserone and 4 others
alcyonecorporation
Mk1 "valver"? Lets have some shots of it with the lovely alloys then Whether ph1 or ph2 they both had top alloys. Once people realise they can't afford Williamses (?) the prices of Clio 16vs will shoot up; I reckon the RSi might do a bit as well. The bloke who stuck my Leon back together after I modified it with a muntjac is a Clio 16v and Williams specialist and doesn't reckon the latter car is worth the premium. Jim Bell
I had a mk1 valver. Was rottern but they mostly all are. Lots of engines went in other things like Volvo 340s so what ever original ones that survive long term I think are going to rise swiftly in value in the future. Very good cars and no mistake. dollywobbler
Having been met with silence about the £90 Mazda, I'm now frantically searching for an alternative. Problem is, there are a great many cars under a grand that tick many boxes, but given I'm not entirely sure what all the boxes are, it's hard to focus on one exact car. A 1998 Toyota Starlet is proving alluring at the moment. Is it just because I want the polar opposite of the Lexus? twosmoke300

When I met my wife she had a 2 year old fiesta she'd bought new,J reg it was a 1.1 base model, nothing in it except a radio, I drove it to heathrow airport with it's 4 speed gearbox and it was awful, worst driving experience I can ever remember , sold it a week later
