trigger
Dad bought this 1978 MG Midget 1500 last summer from the mechanic next to his barn, long story but it had been in his garage for 6 years and now the owner wanted it sold and dad stepped in thinking it be a nice project roll on about a month ago and we decided to start getting it ready for the road, we spent a few Saturdays trying to get it run until eventually going though all the fuel system and now it runs like a dream, it's needed new switches and some pretty shoddy repairs doing properly but today we managed to get it pretty much finished, par just a drivers seat belt and needing to polybush the front trunnions and then it's going on Ebay as dad can't physically get in the car and them bucket seats are a bit too narrow for my liking. I got the new number plates from fancyplates, I was pretty impressed with them, in the correct pre 2001 font too I must say it's a lot of fun to drive and after struggling to fit a speedo cable to the gearbox i managed to find a 5th gear whilst on a road test! It looks like it has a type 9 box fitted which was unexpected! It also has a bloody powerful stereo that runs from your phone into a amp in the back, the roof is a bit shite though! Lets say it's more of a fair weather car! wuvvum, LightBulbFun, RobT and 18 others

stuboy
The mighty v6 started to cut out, and so I decided to clean the icv, swap the k&n filter for a pipercross, and noticed the multiplug on the coil securing tang had disembarked.. so using the preferred autoshite method of cable tie .. wishing I was more agile and slimmer too. JJ0063
335 is throwing up all sorts of ABS/DSC warnings and saying it’s the right front wheel speed sensor supply so I whipped the wheel off to check the wiring and clean the sensor. No different so ordered a new one, hopefully it’s just that and nothing more. Whilst I was there I ended up painting the caliper yellow as it was originally lime green when I bought the car, I sprayed them all black, that had worn off to a black with bits of green showing through so thought I’d try something different. Going to drive round with just the one yellow for a while to see if I like it or hate it and then decide whether to do the rest. I also need to either get new wheels or have these refurbed. Popsicle
Time to fix the advisory on daughters number 2's Swift today, rear wishbone bush worn, I say advisory, it was a get it done asap mate as its ready to pop out. So armed with a new wishbone time to crack on. Yep that rear bush is not looking good. Bush has come away from the arm. No pics of it finished and attached to the car as it was dark by the time I'd finished, serves me right for not starting it till 6pm. Needless to say every bolt put up a fight and the bottom ball joint took a good smacking and prying to come off. I really struggled to get the new wishbone in, wouldn't line up at all, then I noticed the driveshaft had popped out the gearbox, no wonder the bugger wouldn't go back properly. A nice big splodge of grease over the drive, this Swift really does like to mark its territory! Once the driveshaft was popped back in it all went back together pretty well. Just a quick question for you far more knowledgeable folk, should I be looking to repack the inner CV joint with grease or is it a case of 'fuck it, it'll be reet'? sdkrc, Jim Bell, Rust Collector and 2 others

Yesterday was spent undoing bits, twatting other bits and then hoping bits went back on with no 'where the fuck did that come from' bits left on the floor.
