Split_Pin
Not shite related at all but fuck it, I passed my Pensions and Retirement Planning RO4 exam today. I've been studying for it since January and failed my first attempt at the end of last month. I set my brain to malkie and after 2 weeks more studying, some last minute cramming at the skatepark on Saturday, last night, in the car park and some more before I started the exam I ended up with 70%. It's literally the hardest thing I've ever had to study for, even moreso than my Uni dissertation. Simply because the knowledge would not stick to my brain. I'm never studying again 😂 richardmorris, Supernaut, GMcD and 13 others 15

Rust Collector
I've decided to get the pain over quickly with the new BX and I've booked it in for an MOT on Thursday. For anyone who wants to look at the history and then make a prediction on the outcome, the registration is F126 OLX. The car is presently on 167,7xx miles and so it has only done about 900 miles since the last test... The tester at the place I use is decent, so I know it'll be a fair test. I just hope that I don't have to do too much to put it through a ticket otherwise I will potentially be asked to explain myself by my partner, and we don't want that! Bren
I purchased a serpentine belt for the 545 weeks ago. However I couldn't fit it because somebody had been there before me - and broke the bit of tensioner where the T60 slots in. I had to cut the old belt off just to get a socket on the bolt which secures the tensioner. You can see where the old one was mullered. Not much room. It's all fitted now - ran the engine for a bit and the belt didn't try to flee. mercedade, Shite Ron, JMotor and 4 others

barefoot
I took the Scirocco for an MOT yesterday and it failed, needing unsurprising attention from the sparkly stick. What did surprise me a little was my tame mechanic who spent a long time grumbling about how difficult access was on the bit he was required to attend to. I reminded him of a discussion we had a couple of years ago where we agreed that I'd begin to spend some proper money on it rather than maintaining it on a shoestring. A shiny new carburettor, stainless exhaust & new McPherson struts later, we do not do MOT standard welding , we repair the little fucker properly. And saw 40 or so reviews from the last month where they've made up hidden charges or charged high 3 digits for scratches present at the start even with previous photos. Only lost 3 quid from paying for the cancellation policy so no biggie. Went to the hotels recommended company up the road and this is my steed for the next 24 hours for a grand total of 60 euros. Hybrid model. Has quite heavy brake regeneration and the pedals are too far to the right for me but it drives fairly well and after some faffing we got the Bluetooth hooked up too. beko1987, AnnoyingPentium, richardmorris and 1 other
Stevebrookman
Thought I'd better get on with trying to remove the leaking steering box. I'd disconnected the linkages to the wheels a few months(!) back. Today I removed the servo which gives much better access. Also noticed the master cylinder was leaking into the servo. Have spare servo and master cylinder so will inspect and change over. When my back recovers I'll get the steering box out. paulplom, Sunny Jim and Saabnut

wuvvum
The Caliber left this morning on the back of a beavertail, heading for the rainbow* bridge. It actually started straight up and drove onto the truck fine, but even after running for a couple of minutes it was starting to smoke. This evening I went on a bike ride down to Hickling Broad - I'm trying to get as much exercise in as possible before the weather turns to shite and it starts getting dark just after lunch. There was a flock of these wandering around - can one of our resident ornitholologists tell me what flavour ducks these are? sdkrc and Dyslexic Viking
