Me and a mate have been sharing this for about 3 years or so. Last year it got completely ignored, so this year we are trying to undo the neglect. When I got it, my partner didn’t want to go out in it and that was part of the reason I lost interest last year. This year, she’s asking if she can go out on the boat with me as the weather is nice 😅 That looks nice. I don't know if you were aware of this though, but those things normally drive on water. If you want to drive on mud a Land Rover might be more suitable. DeeJay, Twiggy, Rust Collector and 3 others 2

GMcD
Figured out my starting wows in the Toledo. I'm still only getting 10v on the ignition feed. I took the lower dash apart and it's a veritable hotchpotch of spliced wiring. I don't think it is using a ballast as it has electronic ignition. Now I could rip the wiring loom /ignition switch apart to find out what's going on ....but I won't. I took the starter switched ignition feed and routed it to a new relay to let it do the hardwork, figuring even 10v would be enough for the relay to switch: PXL_20220813_135347959~3.mp4 Low Horatio gearbox, Wibble, Cookiesouwest and 1 other

Rust Collector
We got the boat running, the tide came in up to my mate’s van, and so we did some sea* trials up and down the river. We couldn’t make it out to actual sea, as the tide was so high that we couldn’t go under the bridge - if you want it opened you have to book 2 hours in advance. Successful day though, good to see the boat running again. 2 hours ago, wuvvum said: That looks nice. I don't know if you were aware of this though, but those things normally drive on water. One of the things that we had to fix was the impeller setup that feeds sea water through as coolant… the mooring is tidal and I got in late one day, and trying to send it through the mud didn’t do the gearing inside any favours 😅 11/10 should have used a Land Rover Popsicle, brownnova, Low Horatio gearbox and 18 others
Sunny Jim
Warm isn't it? I'd left a box of parts and some dash cleaner on the front seat of the BX. The box is scorched and the plastic bottle has melted - guess I'm lucky it didn't catch fire. Home improvement top tip: make a small house seem much larger by painting the outside in 30 degree heat! SiC
I happened to see the Bridgewater Car and Steam Show on FB when a notification popped up yesterday for today. Mrs SiC parents and brother+wife are down this weekend. My Father-in-law was supposed to be going on some Hawk thing at the local Hawk Conservancy today but was cancelled as it was too hot for the birds. So instead I suggested him and I go down to the show. I wasn't expecting much but I was happily surprised with the amount there. Good varied selection without too much repetition. Quite small but large enough in this weather that 2hrs was sufficient. PA guy was talking a right load of guff. I should have recorded the conversation he was having with one of the owners of a hydrolastic car. So bad you couldn't make it up.I thought I got everything but the heat was stopping my neurons from firing properly and I think I missed a bunch of stuff. Like for example the front of the Frogeye - but that was probably from me being intoxicated from viewing it. One of the few cars that really excite me about the thought of buying.I'm not a Ford fan but this Granada really did float my boat. This Lanchaster was very nice. Would love to have a go in one, one day. My FiL couldn't understand why someone would spend so much time and money tarting this Mondeo up. I couldn't find anything to disagree with him on that!Another car that I'd love. Bit out of my price bracket really though.I think these Datsuns are ace and look fantastic. Another car I'd quite fancy.I do like classic Jags but the big Jags don't really do it for me though. The Frogeye I was talking about at the top. Well done for getting this far without either getting bored or having your internet connection die.Plenty of bikes. I don't know much about motorbikes but they looked shiny and nice.A banger racer survior car.Not much in the way of steam and hidden away a bit. There was also the usual bunch of stationary engines. I'll upload a video of them separately as they're more interesting when operating. Something hypnotic watching one chug away. Plus bonus Battle of Britain Hawker Hurricane flypast footage at the end.Open again tomorrow. Fiver each entry wasn't too ridiculous nowadays. reb
I've upset someone on Reddit by suggesting that electric swapping a Ford Model A perhaps doesn't destroy automobile history, rather adds to it. I asked them how they would feel if the body and frame were found sans engine and an original engine could not be found, would they rather it be scrapped? Their response was something to the effect of "if it's getting scrapped why would you use it for this project?" I'm about 99% sure they were trolling, once I realised this I decided to ignore, but on the off chance they weren't, I despair. Lankytim
A couple of days ago I filled up the coolant system on the 145 for the first time since it was damaged in an accident in 2010. Amazingly with the engine running there’s no leaks and the whole system got nice and hot, the thermostat opening and closing as it should. I was able to run the engine for 10 minutes or so and even take it for a drive around the garden! Amazing! No clouds of steam or smoke and no horrible noises. The temperature gauge doesn’t work but there’s still a few disconnected earths and wires that need sorting out which in hope should sort it. With the engine nice and hot I was able to do an oil change. The drained oil looked nice with nothing nasty floating about inside it. A new filter and fresh oil was added and the engine cranked over with a coil wire removed to build up oil pressure. The 145 is now a first time starter and sounds lovely! The rest of the day (and following days) were taken up looking for our Budgie which has escaped. We found it high up some trees locally and it was having a whale of a time but it’s since vanished. Either dead of predator attack, thirst or perhaps it’s been taken in by someone local. Facebook has turned up a blank sadly. puddlethumper
Was next to a K plate 205 at some lights today with a couple, probably seventies. and thumbs up were exchanged. Having a trans van, BMW at the moment, I have noticed I don't use my indicators as much as I used to and have caught myself, on occasion, acting with superiority over other motorists. cort1977
After at least a month of wasted time on family holidays, work and other nonsense I finally got a look at the binding caliper on the mustang today. One piston obviously binding, pushed it out, looks clean, bit of brake cleaner, grease and back together. Quick test drive revealed... same problem. Le sigh. Will take it off and strip down properly on the bench. Tried to start the cortina. No joy but the charging light stopped working so that's progress. Reverse progress admittedly Then I spent a long time fiddling with wiring getting the clock in the sierra working. Eventually got it going, backlight went off with the headlights so something wrong, then the whole unit stopped working. Some days nothing goes right.
